More business for you from this customer, thats for sure. Definitely didn't need a boiler. They just needed YOU. Way to be honest Steve. We appreciate that.
Maybe in an ideal world with unlimited money they get a new boiler. Steve operates in the real world though. So long as it's safe and not financially stupid he gets it going again. Less cash short term, but more business long term. There's a reason he has all the work he can handle.
@@gregoryclemen1870 WAs an HVAC for a long time and the worst problem with a dry base steel boiler is the chamber collapsing and the flame burning a hole thru the back of the boiler chamber. I've seen them put these boilers in utility rooms against an outside wall which can burn your house down..
a "DRY" boiler base comes from lack of maintenance. it is typical on boilers that are generating "STEAM", and are not being "BLOWN DOWN", so sludge builds up on the bottom of the boiler. also the refractory material must be maintained in the firebox, otherwise you are correct, you will burn a hole in the back of the boiler, if a "POWER BURNER" is being used!!!!.
Hi! I am a healthcare worker in voluntary quarantine in my unfinished basement in Maine! Since I am stuck here, I decided to get to know my home systems! I found your videos and wanted to reach out and thank you for the many enjoyable hours I have experienced watching them on my UA-cam app on Kindle! You have really help me get through this! Keep up the amazing work! And thanks again! I even talk about your videos through my PPE with patients! One guy said to me.... "I think I have seen him. He's the guy with the dog right?". Yep!
Worst part the other guy probably made 200 bucks then the owners have to pay another time. Steve takes the time to go threw it not just jump to worst case or oh I'll make a better buck just having them pay me to install a new one

Nice job. You don’t mind working in the dark. My plumber friend was asked about him working in the dark and he said “I don’t mind, I went to night school “ Good job Steve
Your a good man , Steve. Great tech. and an overall good person. Very very honest which is not seen much anymore. Thanks for your Great Service to the community.
That was one easy oil filter on the tank. Good job on being honest, its easy to walk in and just look at how old something is and say "you need a new one". And I can only imagine what type of install the previous plumber would have done. Thank you Steve.
You're the best Steve, an honest man. You saved that man thousands and thousands! I hope that guy gives you a good review, and a poor one to the company that lied. There is a company in Southern NH like that one of the biggest if not the biggest, just check out their Yelp reviews. I left one, they lied to me.
Could it be, that the bad nozzle made soot and blocked the pipe? Here in germany we do maintenence of the oil heating every year. Steve, you´re a good guy. :-) Greetings from germany
@@James_Bowie Not necessarly, a good and modern boiler and burner don't get oily and sooty. If so there's something badly wrong. For most of the time that I lived in Massachusetts, I always knew we had oil burners. And my Dad taught me that they should be serviced one a year usually in the fall. I continued that after I bought my own house. Never had a furness that failed. In the last 2 houses I have gas heaters and still have them serviced once a year. Nothing worst in the dead of winter on a weekend to have that burner quit. You fixed his problem where the other guy just wanted to screw the owner. The owner should start calling you for that once a year service.
Yeah Mama, Stevie’s a workin’ man! Great job diagnosing the problem and saving the day for the customer. Keep up the good work and keep safe from the old Corona-Rona.
Great Job Steve! Nobody wants to take the time and trouble shoot anymore. Just like everything else and most people who don’t want to take the time and do the right thing they take the lazy way out and try to make the most money.
The bad thing about those corporations or giant contractors is they always got a promotion running to push deals or entire units. I hate it. We need more guys like you in the field who can diagnosis and repair not just replace parts.

@@throttlebottle5906 We had that problem when I was a kid. Dryer lint everywhere. Turns out the dryer vent was rusted out before the lint filter. Dad was unclogging the boiler inlet multiple times a year.

I ran out of heating oil so I went to the gas station and I think the guy may have put gasoline in my yellow tank. I poured 5 gallons into the tank and tried to bleed the systemwhich was in lockout. Thats the problem really pays to learn the basics of oil fired burners they are so simple to fix been doing mine for over 30 years now.Theres nothing wrong with this boiler cant trust alot of people its so common today to make a buck.Have a Bock oil fired Water heater finally going it was made in 1992 lasted 28 years just started leaking a little same electrodes in it since installed, changed the transformer once and cleaned the nozzle a few times in all that time. I dont use Delvan brass nozzles with the stainless tip insert they are junk IMO. I use all steel nozzles. If they only had stainless tanks in the boilers and hotwater heaters oil burner guys and plumbers would go out of buisness. They would last longer than we do,LoL. what meter are you using there?
Regarding nozzle size, what does the second number mean? .75x70, for example, is .75 GPH flow, but what dues 70 mean?
