I’m a Registered Nurse and it surprised me how much watching that shocked me. Probably because, with a human patient, I know what to do, but I have no idea what a sheep intervention would be. I thought you handled it very well, trying to calm & support her. You are so caring for ALL of your animals. The entro was adorable and love that you included Mark❣️🐑🐑🐑🐑

I'm sitting here in tears after watching Billy's Mom having a seizure. We used to have a dog that had a seizure disorder. We lost her just over a year ago after a large cluster of seizures. There are medications for seizures, I don't know how effective they are in sheep though. Sometimes even the meds don't help :(. Sending you and everyone that has had to deal with seizures in the past and currently big hugs, it's a horrible disorder to live with.
We are currently dealing with our 12 yr old toy poodle and seizures. She has been taking medication for about 2 years, but here lately the seizures are reappearing and much more severe. The vet has prescribed additional medication which has helped a little bit, but causing her to have severe diarrhea during the night, which is unfortunate as she sleeps in our bed. Have taken her off the new med and have an appt with vet next week. With no cure and meds no longer working, we are going to be faced with a very difficult decision within the next week. Noel was a surprise Christmas gift from my husband to me twelve years ago, and I might add the best gift I have ever received. She is my little girl.
@@sharonhatz9157 I had the same issue with my toy poodle. He was on meds for years and suddenly started having multiple seizures, sometimes 2 or 3 daily. We tried addl meds and it didn’t help. I stopped giving him all the meds and he almost completely stopped having seizures shortly after that. The only time he would seize is if he had a crazy busy day like if we had company or a lot of noise in the house. Ask your vet, of course, but he did fine after stopping the meds. He lived to be 17 years old. Man, it was like we lost one of our children when he passed. Good luck to you and your precious fur baby!❤

I had a dog that used to have seizures. The Vet told me that it upsets us more than the animal and in the dogs case wouldn't hurt him. He said unless it was a daily occurrence it really wasn't worth putting him on medication. He lived to be 16 years old had seizures for about half his life. If you're really worried about her casting tell Jack to set up some cameras on the golden girls so you can check in on them like you do with the barn.

You will do what is best for Billy's Mom. She recovered quickly and is having quality of life right now. If she suffers I know and trust you will do what is best for Billy's mom even if it breaks your heart. Unfortunately it is the price we pay for love and then we do it all over again.

Many years ago, our Finnish Spitz dog was diagnosed with epilepsy. Scared the daylights out of me when I witnessed her seizure. She lived a full happy life. I learned that she wasn't aware of her seizures, she would just "wake up" lying down and could be a bit sleepy after for a while. So it was scarier for us than the one seizing. Yeah, Vlogmas!!! Our first living lamb is adorable!!!!

I needed this. Billy’s mums seizures are truly tragic. Poor darling. But you are giving her the best retirement, with all the love and attention she deserves. Made my heart break and the tears rolled down my cheek knowing what she was going through. My daughter has Epilepsy and I have witnessed many Grand Mals . Sad and I feel for you and Billies mom. I had a cat that had seizures and I was able to give him phenobarbital pills to control them. They were really cheap to buy, but that was 15 yrs ago. It is hard to watch them during the episode, but calm, soothing voice, and gentle touch is the best response. The side position is the best for humans and cats…it keeps them from choking on the excess mouth saliva. I don’t know about sheep, but I sure understand your concern. I love your sheep and your sharing your life with us.
It’s really amazing that lambs grow soooo much in the last days before delivery. Merely a few days between life and death. Momma keep those babies in the oven until their done! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄💚🙃

Wow!! Watching that seizure really got to me. We lost our 3 year old Chocolate lab to seizures. They looked almost identical to hers. Our dog's got so bad that he was having 10-11 in one day. He was on 3 different medications for seizures and costing us over $350 a month. He woke us up one morning having one, and he had a stroke while seizing and lost function to his legs and had to be put down. He was 2 weeks away from turning 4 years old. Even with his health issues, he was the best dog I've ever has the privilege to meet. He was so smart, loyal, loving and caring. I have permanent sciatic nerve damage due to 3 back surgeries. And he was such a help to me. He will forever be in my heart and mind. RIP Koda. 💙🐶
So sad watching Billie’s Mom. I cried but I know there is rarely anything you can do. She seemed to come out of it well. A lot like epilepsy in humans. Billy’s Mom! Oh my heart. ♥️ I have a pet with seizures and one thing to watch for is temporary blindness after the seizure (transient cortical blindness or TCB.) It was unclear in the video if she was bumping into the fence because she couldn’t see it or if she was just unsteady on her feet. You’ll want to watch for it just in case she needs help finding the barn at some point. Sending her (and you) lots of love! 🐑 ♥️ 🎄

Diazapam is a rescue medication for seizures that have been used for sheep and goats, there are a few studies that have come out in the last ten years looking into other medication options as well. Maybe speak to Rex about having some diazapam in Billy's moms barn as a rescue medication for her, adding a camera in the barn would allow you to see if she becomes casted. Just some ideas for you, you may have already thought about them or spoken to Rex about medication. Praying for Billy's Mom!
I found myself saying, “Hey, it’s Vlogmas!” So I think that means I’ve been around watching this channel for a while! Also, I found myself saying, “Oh no, shhhh….shh…..shhhh…..” to try to calm Billy’s Mom through the screen during her scary seizure. All the feelz!!!!

Sandi, I’m really sorry that Billy’s Mom had a grand mal seizure 😢 - my husband is epileptic and used to have them until his meds got them under control (unfortunately meds aren’t available for sheep). Whether these wonderful girls are with you for one day or a thousand, each day is a gift to cherish and be grateful for🙏🏻❤
My Mom had grand mal too. I grew up with watching it (she had an traumatic head accident when I was about 3), so I really watch more for people that don't know how to watch it rather than the person having them. Sorry to see you Sandi be so upset, but Billy's mom looks like she recovered really well.
I want to thank you for sharing your life with everyone. I look forward to you vlogs every day during lambing and every few days during planting/harvesting. I have had a rough few years with health issues and when I lay down for bed or just need to relax your channel is one of the channels I look forward to watching. My kid knows when he hears your voice or the lambs that it's my me time and I'm trying to unwind after my IV therapy, babysitting, or taking care of my mother and step father (who just happened to have had a heart attack this past weekend). Thank you for doing this and educating everyone.
Sorry about “Billy’s Mom’s” seizure. Scarier for you as her human “mom” than for the patient. My daughter has had grand mal seizures since birth. Hardest thing ever is letting her grow up and move out on her own. We can both worry ‘bout our sweeties together, and pray they will be okay.

I thought the same, but I looked into antiseizure meds for sheep, and couldn't find one that any source would say helps sheep. The same for goats and cows, so I wonder if the fact that they are ruminants may make medication hard for them. I may have also not searched the right things to find what I was looking for.
@@nene00760075 it's probably not something that's been studied as they're typically culled for neurological issues. They could try something like gabapentin. Gabapentin can be used for pain in ruminants, and was originally developed as an anti seizure medication. Gabapentin has the horrible side effect of making you feel like you're drunk though and can be sedating.
@@dosdoggiesit doesn’t actually make you feel like you are drunk. Woozy ,almost like a dizzy spell, sometimes.I take it for my neuropathy every day. I’ve never experienced anything close to feeling like I was drunk. My late husband took it also.
since she had t had one in month a Vet won't usually prescribe meds for seizures, every medication has side effects and some seizure meds have pretty bad ones, so as long as there is so much time in between the seizures meds are not really necessary. Seizures themselves do not really harm the animal and with so few seizures in a long time the meds would probably do more to harm Billie's mom than one seizure every few month. They look horrible but thankfully they are mostly no danger to her.

Fred had seizures his whole life. When ever they stopped Ethel would always go lay right up next to him. Love the new introduction ❤

Seeing Billy’s Mom having a seizure reminded me of my grandfather who died of brain cancer. He started having seizures and then was diagnosed with brain cancer on Valentine’s Day 16 years ago and passed away in the middle of august same year. Keep an eye on Billy’s Mom to ensure she’s not suffering.
I am so sorry about "Billy's Mom." I used to have a ferret that had seizures, and what the vet gave me for them was predisone. It worked for him, but I am not sure about sheep. Ask your vet if it would help her.

Noel was a surprise Christmas gift from my husband to me twelve years ago, and I might add the best gift I have ever received. She is my little girl.
@@sharonhatz9157 I had the same issue with my toy poodle. He was on meds for years and suddenly started having multiple seizures, sometimes 2 or 3 daily. We tried addl meds and it didn’t help. I stopped giving him all the meds and he almost completely stopped having seizures shortly after that. The only time he would seize is if he had a crazy busy day like if we had company or a lot of noise in the house. Ask your vet, of course, but he did fine after stopping the meds. He lived to be 17 years old. Man, it was like we lost one of our children when he passed. Good luck to you and your precious fur baby!❤

I had a dog that used to have seizures. The Vet told me that it upsets us more than the animal and in the dogs case wouldn't hurt him. He said unless it was a daily occurrence it really wasn't worth putting him on medication. He lived to be 16 years old had seizures for about half his life. If you're really worried about her casting tell Jack to set up some cameras on the golden girls so you can check in on them like you do with the barn.

You will do what is best for Billy's Mom. She recovered quickly and is having quality of life right now. If she suffers I know and trust you will do what is best for Billy's mom even if it breaks your heart. Unfortunately it is the price we pay for love and then we do it all over again.

Many years ago, our Finnish Spitz dog was diagnosed with epilepsy. Scared the daylights out of me when I witnessed her seizure. She lived a full happy life. I learned that she wasn't aware of her seizures, she would just "wake up" lying down and could be a bit sleepy after for a while. So it was scarier for us than the one seizing.

Made my heart break and the tears rolled down my cheek knowing what she was going through. My daughter has Epilepsy and I have witnessed many Grand Mals . Sad and I feel for you and Billies mom.

I had a cat that had seizures and I was able to give him phenobarbital pills to control them. They were really cheap to buy, but that was 15 yrs ago. It is hard to watch them during the episode, but calm, soothing voice, and gentle touch is the best response. The side position is the best for humans and cats…it keeps them from choking on the excess mouth saliva. I don’t know about sheep, but I sure understand your concern. I love your sheep and your sharing your life with us.
It’s really amazing that lambs grow soooo much in the last days before delivery. Merely a few days between life and death. Momma keep those babies in the oven until their done! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄💚🙃

Wow!! Watching that seizure really got to me. We lost our 3 year old Chocolate lab to seizures. They looked almost identical to hers. Our dog's got so bad that he was having 10-11 in one day. He was on 3 different medications for seizures and costing us over $350 a month. He woke us up one morning having one, and he had a stroke while seizing and lost function to his legs and had to be put down. He was 2 weeks away from turning 4 years old. Even with his health issues, he was the best dog I've ever has the privilege to meet. He was so smart, loyal, loving and caring. I have permanent sciatic nerve damage due to 3 back surgeries. And he was such a help to me. He will forever be in my heart and mind. RIP Koda. 💙🐶
So sad watching Billie’s Mom. I cried but I know there is rarely anything you can do. She seemed to come out of it well. A lot like epilepsy in humans. Billy’s Mom! Oh my heart. ♥️ I have a pet with seizures and one thing to watch for is temporary blindness after the seizure (transient cortical blindness or TCB.) It was unclear in the video if she was bumping into the fence because she couldn’t see it or if she was just unsteady on her feet. You’ll want to watch for it just in case she needs help finding the barn at some point. Sending her (and you) lots of love! 🐑 ♥️ 🎄

Diazapam is a rescue medication for seizures that have been used for sheep and goats, there are a few studies that have come out in the last ten years looking into other medication options as well. Maybe speak to Rex about having some diazapam in Billy's moms barn as a rescue medication for her, adding a camera in the barn would allow you to see if she becomes casted. Just some ideas for you, you may have already thought about them or spoken to Rex about medication. Praying for Billy's Mom!
I found myself saying, “Hey, it’s Vlogmas!” So I think that means I’ve been around watching this channel for a while! Also, I found myself saying, “Oh no, shhhh….shh…..shhhh…..” to try to calm Billy’s Mom through the screen during her scary seizure. All the feelz!!!!
It was so sad seeing Billy's mom start off with a seizure, but so happy she pulled through without a hitch.

Sandi, I’m really sorry that Billy’s Mom had a grand mal seizure 😢 - my husband is epileptic and used to have them until his meds got them under control (unfortunately meds aren’t available for sheep). Whether these wonderful girls are with you for one day or a thousand, each day is a gift to cherish and be grateful for🙏🏻❤
My Mom had grand mal too. I grew up with watching it (she had an traumatic head accident when I was about 3), so I really watch more for people that don't know how to watch it rather than the person having them. Sorry to see you Sandi be so upset, but Billy's mom looks like she recovered really well.
I want to thank you for sharing your life with everyone. I look forward to you vlogs every day during lambing and every few days during planting/harvesting. I have had a rough few years with health issues and when I lay down for bed or just need to relax your channel is one of the channels I look forward to watching. My kid knows when he hears your voice or the lambs that it's my me time and I'm trying to unwind after my IV therapy, babysitting, or taking care of my mother and step father (who just happened to have had a heart attack this past weekend). Thank you for doing this and educating everyone.

Sorry about “Billy’s Mom’s” seizure. Scarier for you as her human “mom” than for the patient. My daughter has had grand mal seizures since birth. Hardest thing ever is letting her grow up and move out on her own. We can both worry ‘bout our sweeties together, and pray they will be okay.

I thought the same, but I looked into antiseizure meds for sheep, and couldn't find one that any source would say helps sheep. The same for goats and cows, so I wonder if the fact that they are ruminants may make medication hard for them. I may have also not searched the right things to find what I was looking for.
@@nene00760075 it's probably not something that's been studied as they're typically culled for neurological issues. They could try something like gabapentin. Gabapentin can be used for pain in ruminants, and was originally developed as an anti seizure medication.
Gabapentin has the horrible side effect of making you feel like you're drunk though and can be sedating.
@@dosdoggiesit doesn’t actually make you feel like you are drunk. Woozy ,almost like a dizzy spell, sometimes.I take it for my neuropathy every day. I’ve never experienced anything close to feeling like I was drunk. My late husband took it also.
since she had t had one in month a Vet won't usually prescribe meds for seizures, every medication has side effects and some seizure meds have pretty bad ones, so as long as there is so much time in between the seizures meds are not really necessary. Seizures themselves do not really harm the animal and with so few seizures in a long time the meds would probably do more to harm Billie's mom than one seizure every few month. They look horrible but thankfully they are mostly no danger to her.

I caught myself saying no, no, no along with you. Plenty of tears in my eyes also. Was happy to see her recover and get up. I had a set of durox pigs as pets growing up. Fred had seizures his whole life. When ever they stopped Ethel would always go lay right up next to him.

Oh Sandi, it broke my heart and I'm currently in tears after seeing Billy's mom having such a violent seizure. I'm praying that she doesn't have anymore seizures and sending warm hugs and much love to her and the rest of the sheep. I look forward to seeing your videos and love the lamb rodeos with them all running around and in circles. Some of them are just so adorable that I don't think I'd be able to part with them at all. Seeing Billy’s Mom having a seizure reminded me of my grandfather who died of brain cancer. He started having seizures and then was diagnosed with brain cancer on Valentine’s Day 16 years ago and passed away in the middle of august same year. Keep an eye on Billy’s Mom to ensure she’s not suffering.

I am so sorry about "Billy's Mom." I used to have a ferret that had seizures, and what the vet gave me for them was predisone. It worked for him, but I am not sure about sheep. Ask your vet if it would help her.
