    Good thing Drink didn’t agree with that boomer email take and risk the game by taking out his best player to “prove a point”. Everyone including Luther knows he shouldn’t have reacted like that and guess how he responded…by making clutch plays to seal the game for his team. We might be 2-1 if not for Luther and hey I love a receiver that plays with passion & edge even if that means a dumb unsportsmanlike every now and again. Drink set the message by leaving his best player in after mental mistakes that winning comes before everything else and that a teaching moment shouldn’t be prioritized over the team’s results. Sitting your best player to start SEC play to prove a point to teammates who already understand that unsportsmanlike conducts are inexcusable is beyond heinous. Luther Burden is also only 20 years old…he’s still young and will make mistakes.

    learning opportunity. I think Burden learns from this and dodges a bullet because they got the W. Almost every superstar gets a silly penalty once in a while. He got flagged for 2 in a row and that will stick with him and I believe be something that helps him get back to focus and play ball. Mizzou confronted lots of adversity, much self-inflicted. I think they learn from this and move forward. But I sure hope they clean up all the other penalties!

    BC was mad they were getting owned after seemingly having the game in hand. If you have a big bro you know how it is. You get a couple shots in you think you're finally going to beat him then he just backs you down the rest of the game. You result to pettiness. A good big bro walks off that's what we need to learn. Don't waste energy on little bro.

      That is a perfect description of the Kentucky game last year and one of the reasons I am 100% behind Brady Cook. That 300# DL had him on his back, punched him in the face
      Brady just laughed, spit blood back in dudes face and drove down the field to hang more points on them.
      They'll settle in
      I'm proud of our Missouri Tigers

    Luther allowed himself to be baited. He was retaliating. No excuse but also let's also not forget he is just 20 years old. Coach Drink did get in his face about it. I will leave it to Drink. In his post game comments he addressed that he can't continue to let that happen. I believe him. If he does it again...then in a game suspension might be warranted. I am starting to worry about Brady's downfield accuracy. He is still effective but if he can clean that up then it will open up the short throws and run game even more.

    If a coach was that petty towards players, in todays game, u wouldn't get any star players, and would be getting your ass kicked, and be out of a head coaching job. Overall, Luther is a good young man. Not a bad guy

    In the post-game press conference, Drinkwitz answered the question about too many penalties, of all types, by saying, "That's on me." And he is right. Burden's talented and plays with an edge. Great. But no player should ever hurt his own team with pointless penalties like that. And seeing that young, aggressive men are disciplined enough to avoid such penalties is a coaching job. I hope - and believe - that Drinkwitz and staff are doing that coaching job right now.

    Brady Cook. My take is Mizzou won’t win it all with him. Will they make the playoffs… maybe. The schedule is friendly but the thing about Brady is he’s not bad nor great. He’s an above okay QB. He’s a game manager than can run a bit. He won’t have a lot of turnovers but he doesn’t have the arm talent to put up some ridiculous numbers either. He reminds me of QBs Alabama use to have. You have to surround with with amazing talent to win it. Mizz has talent but that that great to win with him as your QB.

    • @markzoole5775
      @markzoole5775 3 місяці тому

      There's a lot here that makes sense, but I'd add that Cook's deep ball is not missing by much. The long toss to Wease down the sideline was about as good a throw as you can make. Most of the other incomplete long passes have been just a yard or two too strong, which I'd rather see than having them be too short. It would not be surprising at all to see some real improvement in this area over the next few games. If that happens such that the best teams have to take Mizzou's deep ball threat even more seriously than they already must due to the receiving corps' sheer talent - in addition to all the other strengths this offense has - then the sky's the limit for this offense this year.

    I'm old too, I became fan in 68 so I remember Devine, but I can't stand old haters whining about culture stuff. Burden messed up he knows it, he has to tighten that up, other teams will test him and I'm sure he will. If you hate Burden go root for Army or Navy, they got wonderful, nice boys that never offend. On other things I like the defense it's still structurally sound it's just not as talented, defensive back field scares me a little. Cook has to get the deep ball thing resolved we're going to need more points than last year.

      I’m pretty sure there were more drops this game than bad throws. Wease dropped 2, one was a screen and went through his hands. The other was a deep ball in his bread basket that should’ve been DPI. Mookie also dropped a medium depth pass. Turn all three of those into catches and you have 2 more “explosive” pass plays
      And Luther did not stand out to me while I watched the game, other receivers seemed to get open more consistently. Like Drink said, Burden has to earn his opportunities just as much as the other WR.

    Brady played pretty well, most of the difficulties in the pass game were due to the O-line allowing pressure on the blitzes. BC blitzed much more than in their previous games, they didn’t get home much but they did shorten his time in the pocket, so he had to get the ball out quickly. O-line has to improve in pass pro for our passing Offense to improve. May end up having to lean on the run game more.

    Luther had a temper tantrum in a previous game this season. The announcers didn't make much of it, but it happened. Probably tired of the dink and dunk offense, and Cook missing routine passes. He has been so vocal about wanting to win the Heisman, and you don't do that catching 5 to 10 yard passes, sideline passes, or running failed end-arounds. There are 15 QB's in our 16 team conference with more TD passes than Cooks 2. There are another 4 that are tied with him, so he is keeping pace with some teams backup QB's. Arch Manning has 5! Even Jalen Milroe, who gets grief about his passing, has 8 passing TD's, and some of those are to a 17 year old! Cook may be good D-1 QB, but he is below average in the SEC. He is also being dusted by most of the conference in QBR. For someone who doesn't have a big arm, you would hope accuracy would be his strength, but it isn't. He almost never hits his receiver in stride(even last year)! Mizzou won't become elite with a QB who isn't.

    • @TTB8126
      @TTB8126 3 місяці тому +1

      According to the actual statistics from 2023 you are completely wrong about where Cook rates among SEC QBs last season. He wasn't the best but he was probably 3rd no worse than 4th. That's just a fact and I think factoring in his run game is important too. He is off to a slower start this year with deeper balls.

    Conservative play but that's OK. How many games can a team get totally amped up for each season? Bob Stoops says 5 or 6 games. I think A&M will be the first time we see a full, amped up game.

  • @JustAFanOfSports
    @JustAFanOfSports 3 місяці тому

    When you’re a top 10 team, the margin for error or small difference in explosive play ability, gets magnified. Safe to say, the SEC teams ahead of us in the rankings are all showing bigger explosive play ability (maybe not Georgia yet but they get a pass). If we’re going to finish 11-1 to make a playoff spot, we need to build up that part of our offense. 10-2 record with our schedule and this many great SEC teams probably puts us in the first team out spot

    There was at least one other play earlier in the game that Luther pulled something green off another player then that player pushed him in the back and Luther did a semi flop trying to get a foul called, so they had been going back and forth throughout the game. No excuse, maybe if Luther isn’t going to put his mouthpiece in he should tape it on good enough it can’t be pulled off.
