I even would bet this was the game Rocksteady initially was going to make as a continuation of the Arkham universe but WB’s milk the fans dry initiative focused on SSKTJL turned that corner pushing the unfinished project of Gotham Knights onto WB Montreal. Give them their credit though, they did their best with what they were given, they do a great job with narrative a la Arkham Origins.
Suicide Squad should have followed Gotham Knights example. Like yeah Suicide Squad would have still sucked but at least it wouldn't have sucked as much.

it's quite funny to me how Gotham Knights, a game deliberately NOT in the Arkhamverse, wants you to think it is with its gameplay while handling the death of Batman with some actual fucking gravitas and care, whereas Suicide Squad IS in the Arkhamverse and ditched its robust melee combat for generic third-person shooting and handled the death of Batman with... how did Joker put it? "All the subtlety of a napalm enema."

to me the ss game play kills it for me iam so use to the old arkham game controls.
They could find a way to add another Robin in as Damian Wayne or save that for a sequel, say Batman fell into the Lazarus and is alive again, they could add both Stephanie brown and Cassandra Cain as either batgirls or spoiler and orphan, and there’s a lot more, and what makes it worse is the fact we will never get a sequel with any of these characters
The new Wonder Woman by Monolith studios has some massive expectations to overcome because since Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League both failed all eyes and hope is now on this Wonder Woman game to be amazing.

I actually loved certain aspects of the characters. In the media they just allergic to write Nightwing the way he is in the comics (very charaismatic, friendly, empathetic, funny, but very competent when he has to be). They always want to make him into a dark and broody Batman ripoff (DC Anmimated, Titans, Young Justice etc). We have never got a Nightwing who is very similar to his comic book counterpart. (GK Nightwing has some of the good nature/humor/lightheartedness comic book Dick Grayson has)
Y’know, after the… squad game… I find myself kinda comforted by the familiarity of Gotham Knights. Like, is it better than the Arkham games? No, not really. But is it trying to be? I don’t think so. It’s a game that delves into the mechanics of Batman’s sidekicks, with just enough similarity to arkham to keep you familiar without seeming like a complete ripoff. Honestly, all things considered, the game’s a solid 7/10, retrospectively.

The Robins and Batgirls still felt alot like sidekicks in Gotham Knights due to every villain being hand me downs from Bruce and the antagonists having more personal connections to him than the family, like the court of owls had potential to be Nightwings dark reflection since William Cobb was his grandad in the comics but they never utilized it in game.
They left it intentionally vague since you can choose to play as 4 different characters. They had to make their experiences uniform and pretty much identical. Otherwise, they'd have to make 4 unique plots.

Jason is buff canonically. He is heavier (tho shorter) than Batman canonically. And in comics it shows, when he sands next to Bruce, their height difference is very slight. This is not the case with Dick who is much smaller than both Bruce, and Jason. (Jason is 6ft, 225 lbs, Batman is 6'2 ft, 210 lbs, Dick is 5'10, 175 lbs) In New 52 writers/artists forgot that Jason is actually huge (when he was created he was listed as being 250 lbs!) and people who became the fans of Jason think he is supposed to be a twink. Which he is not. During Rebirth they retconned his original height/weight back. It blows my mind why they artists refuse to draw him bigger thn Grayson.
I agree that DC gaming should be in a better spot. There are so many cool stories to tell! Ive found myself going back and playing DC Universe Online just for the small little story beats in the leveling and raiding.
12:42 - there were Comic Book DLC skins - - DC had a Batman Gotham Knights series (6 issues) each issue had a different skin for weapons for each character, a color drop for the suits, and if you collected all the comics you got a "cowboy" themed skins for each character.

The dumb post launch content update and even it's story and all these random crafting materials just SCREAMS and oozes that this was supposued to be a live service game. Or more likley. They did it to try to salvage suicide squad's chances. You can kinda feel this may of been meant to be the arkhamverse game as Suicide squads story is pretty messy as a lot of things just don't match up with the ending of Arkham knight or the characters. Nightwing has no bakery and that’s disappointing. Barbra is looking great in this game tho 🥵. And Robins traversal is so TRASH. Even worse than Red Hoods. And I hate the way Jason looks. He’s too buff and looks like Rey Mysterio.

This game had so much potential and thats what frustrates me the most about it. I bought it on sale and was still horribly disappointed. Now I just have a game that i have no intentions of finishing sitting in my library lol.
Gotham Knights was okay to me. I still go on patrol with my buddy and do endgame stuff but i enjoy the general gameplay. Game could move faster but I'd take this over Suicide Squad anyday.
The only thing I can say about this game is potential. Make combat little bit faster, polish traversal system with some improvements and add more character growth.
The writing for that scene where the kids tease him while he's making the video in case he dies.. the writing works and I enjoy what its doing but there's this weird vacuous energy to it. Like there's soo much empty air between almost every line and so much of the delivery feels muted. Idk if it needed a score underneath or to build to some kind of crescendo or just a quicker pace but idk, something about it just feels off
The Gotham Knights is clearly a game rebooted from scratch a lot of times and suffered from behind the scenes shit, considering we had leaks of Damian Court of Owls ever since Arkham Knight.
There is enjoyment to be had with this game but there's no mistaking it's flawed. I've been playing it and I do recommend trying it for yourself, primarily with a friend. There a small tweaks that could have pushed this game much higher, I was okay with the the combat not being 1 to 1 with Arkham but there's almost a stutter to both that and general movement
well Harley does seem surprised that we showed up and only then realizes that batman is actually dead. its possible most of the other big villains are waiting to be sure and would have been bigger in a sequel to this game
I’m ngl this games campaign felt like it was made purely for red hood to me, red hood can mostly relate to Bruce with the pit and almost all the dialogue seemed to make red hood the character that’s supposed to be doing everything

To be honest I feel like the only reason I got through this game was because I was playing with a friend. Knights, Avengers, & SSKJL all had promise but like the newer Assassins Creed games, the RPG look sucks, micro transactions, the traversal is too stupid & too gamey like Fortnight (Nightwing) *and some dialogues in all games, either the writing or acting isn’t it. Didn’t play any of them but watched gameplays & cutscenes. Sometimes they didn’t feel like they were a family, friends, or had good chemistry.
Tbh I thought everyone was a bit too chumy. And u expected more infighting and conflict within the group bc they all had different ways of handling things. Especially Jason. I felt like the interaction was very Disney movie and the environments and missions were boring. A Gotham city without batman? Every villain and villaness should be amped up to a 10! Police too!! I imagine Gotham almost becoming a police state overnight lol. But anyway, I did enjoy the story overall and what they tried Todo with the chars. But I wish they took more inspo from the comic books.

How to make We Are Robin game work, is make it more 3D Beat em up inspired by Warriors 2005 game including Parkour. Or Persona 5(you the know the comparison both teams of teenagers having a double life they both take the train, both of them have A Member who do Mission Control like The Robin has Alfred aka The Nest, and Shug-R while The Phantom Thieves has Futaba. Really similar to Barbra Gordan being Oracle) You control one character and the other are CPU in your commands just like the Warriors. The Robins’ tech is not Bruce Wayne Batman level. So they don’t have any gliders. They just grapple hook guns later in the game made by DaxAtax. Each Robin has their own unique stats. And their own unique. While Robina has reliance on speed and Dre-B-Robbin is Heavy muscle. I was thinking this game is the chance to expand more on TheTroyWonder until he dies. And not just the high levels of criminals, Also High levels of Cops to be avoid including James Gordon and his mech Rookie aka *“Rabbit Batman.”* with him and GCPD arrest criminals and vigilantes it would give stakes to the player. 4:37 I was thinking at the Beginning in We Are Robins game you have runs from the Cops and Rabbit Batman, but the most missions and bosses you beat later in the game Rabbit Batman and Cops will help The Robins out. Even give the Robins upgrade armor like Luke Fox gave to Duke. The Robins will fight street level criminals but Their main villain would be the Court of Owls, no League of Assassins. As Talon in the We are Robin was out killing people in the streets and there is the Robin War event. Also We Are Robin game can also capitalize the Batman villains, Mister Bloom. Seriously why he hasn’t appeared in other media. The game can use other villains, Anarky, Fire-Fly, Mad Hatter, Professor Pyg, DollMaker. Like Duke Thomas fought against Penguin and other Batman villain by himself. That can work in both We Are Robin and Gotham Knights. Clownhunter can be a good addition as the Loner type. Or Azrael. Also Duke Thomas won’t use his Metahuman super powers. This game will be All fist and Skill. I know it is silly a bunch of random kids fighting super villains but it something interesting. If Harley Quinn a crazy woman with no powers can do it anything is possible.

This game had so much potential and thats what frustrates me the most about it. I bought it on sale and was still horribly disappointed. Now I just have a game that i have no intentions of finishing sitting in my library lol.
Gotham Knights was okay to me. I still go on patrol with my buddy and do endgame stuff but i enjoy the general gameplay. Game could move faster but I'd take this over Suicide Squad anyday.

The only thing I can say about this game is potential. Make combat little bit faster, polish traversal system with some improvements and add more character growth.
The writing for that scene where the kids tease him while he's making the video in case he dies.. the writing works and I enjoy what its doing but there's this weird vacuous energy to it. Like there's soo much empty air between almost every line and so much of the delivery feels muted. Idk if it needed a score underneath or to build to some kind of crescendo or just a quicker pace but idk, something about it just feels off
The Gotham Knights is clearly a game rebooted from scratch a lot of times and suffered from behind the scenes shit, considering we had leaks of Damian Court of Owls ever since Arkham Knight.
I said: still better than SSKTJL.
A sequel that fix and improve the shortcoming could only help.

There is enjoyment to be had with this game but there's no mistaking it's flawed. I've been playing it and I do recommend trying it for yourself, primarily with a friend. There a small tweaks that could have pushed this game much higher, I was okay with the the combat not being 1 to 1 with Arkham but there's almost a stutter to both that and general movement
We better get some DCU posters and marketing materials with Nightwing doing the butt pose

Ikr that has to be the worst red hood version design I've ever did see
I’m ngl this games campaign felt like it was made purely for red hood to me, red hood can mostly relate to Bruce with the pit and almost all the dialogue seemed to make red hood the character that’s supposed to be doing everything
It must be a matter of interpretation, because I play almost exclusively as Red Hood and feel like this is Dick’s game.

One thing I'll say in regard to Batman's suit in this game:
The belt needs to be yellow. Makes the symbol kinda stand out like a sore thumb.

To be honest I feel like the only reason I got through this game was because I was playing with a friend. I mean its fun to play it in co-op but if I played it alone I think I would've gotten really bored quick. Doesn't help the enemies are so dam spongy. To me Gotham Knights is more canon to the Arkam universe than SSKTJL
Knights, Avengers, & SSKJL all had promise but like the newer Assassins Creed games, the RPG look sucks, micro transactions, the traversal is too stupid & too gamey like Fortnight (Nightwing)
*and some dialogues in all games, either the writing or acting isn’t it.
Didn’t play any of them but watched gameplays & cutscenes. Sometimes they didn’t feel like they were a family, friends, or had good chemistry.
The trinity of superhero games devs should avoid making.
Tbh I thought everyone was a bit too chumy. And u expected more infighting and conflict within the group bc they all had different ways of handling things. Especially Jason. I felt like the interaction was very Disney movie and the environments and missions were boring. A Gotham city without batman? Every villain and villaness should be amped up to a 10! Police too!! I imagine Gotham almost becoming a police state overnight lol. But anyway, I did enjoy the story overall and what they tried Todo with the chars. But I wish they took more inspo from the comic books.

I think this game should’ve been *We Are Robin.* What do you think? How to make We Are Robin game work, is make it more 3D Beat em up inspired by Warriors 2005 game including Parkour. Or Persona 5(you the know the comparison both teams of teenagers having a double life they both take the train, both of them have A Member who do Mission Control like The Robin has Alfred aka The Nest, and Shug-R while The Phantom Thieves has Futaba. You control one character and the other are CPU in your commands just like the Warriors.
The Robins’ tech is not Bruce Wayne Batman level. So they don’t have any gliders. They just grapple hook guns later in the game made by DaxAtax.
Each Robin has their own unique stats. And their own unique. While Robina has reliance on speed and Dre-B-Robbin is Heavy muscle.
I was thinking this game is the chance to expand more on TheTroyWonder until he dies.
And not just the high levels of criminals, Also High levels of Cops to be avoid including James Gordon and his mech Rookie aka *“Rabbit Batman.”* with him and GCPD arrest criminals and vigilantes it would give stakes to the player.
4:37 I was thinking at the Beginning in We Are Robins game you have runs from the Cops and Rabbit Batman, but the most missions and bosses you beat later in the game Rabbit Batman and Cops will help The Robins out. Even give the Robins upgrade armor like

The Robins will fight street level criminals but Their main villain would be the Court of Owls, no League of Assassins.
As Talon in the We are Robin was out killing people in the streets and there is the Robin War event.
Also We Are Robin game can also capitalize the Batman villains, Mister Bloom. Seriously why he hasn’t appeared in other media.
The game can use other villains, Anarky, Fire-Fly, Mad Hatter, Professor Pyg, DollMaker.
Like Duke Thomas fought against Penguin and other Batman villain by himself. That can work in both We Are Robin and Gotham Knights.
Clownhunter can be a good addition as the Loner type. Or Azrael.
Also Duke Thomas won’t use his Metahuman super powers. This game will be All fist and Skill.
I know it is silly a bunch of random kids fighting super villains but it something interesting. If Harley Quinn a crazy woman with no powers can do it anything is possible.
