Still out there hiking - good for you. Judging by the terrain going up 5024, you'd be right at home on the northern Appalachian Trail. Me, probably not so much since I tore my ankle tendon on the PCT last year. - Slapshot
Hello MoonJuice, my name is Samurai and found you by searching videos on AZT. Looks like you live in the Phonex area. My hubby and I are in Wickenburg for the winter. I was wondering if you could give me any names of shoe stores in the area that carry trail running shoes besides REI or maybe your followers might? Love following along on your hiking adventures.
Hello Samurai! I have only purchased trail runners from REI and Amazon. All the shoes I wear you can get on Amazon - assuming Amazon delivers way out in Wickenberg! My favorite is the Altra Olympus, it has the most cushion. I also like the Hoka Speedgoats, Brooks Cascadia, Altra Lone Peaks and the Salomon XA Pro (which is a little more like a cross between a trail runner and a boot). I wear a half size larger than my regular shoes to allow for a little swelling on long hikes and to keep my toes from crushing into the shoe when going downhill.
I imagine with all your hiking/ backpacking experience the thrill must now come from doing unconventional things like hiking flat iron to 5024 in the dark?
I had a couple great sunrises in the Superstitions. Good on ya
Oh yeah, those desert sunrises and sunsets can be pretty epic!
Another great video! Thank you. Going up flat in dark must have not been fun.
It wasn’t as scary as I thought it’d be! Solo would have been a different story

Hey Slapshot! Sorry to hear that man! Hope you heal up and get back out there soon.
@@MoonJuiceHikes Heading to California and the PCT the beginning of May. I'm going to try to limp a thousand miles or so if the ankle holds up.
@@txlombardi If anyone can do it, you can Tony! Good luck, be safe out there

It’s fun to be able to experience and see things very few people have. That sunrise is one of them! Worth a little extra effort.
Still no finishing pose, hike clearly never happened . . . 😔
Lol…got me again!
