  • This video is part of a special FAQ series designed to help answer questions about my 12-week online nervous system rewire program, SmartBody SmartMind. In this video I cover whether or not someone who lives with chronic fatigue is a suitable for my online work, specifically, my 12-week group program. The short answer is YES. And, the key is taking a route of ease and personal pacing so as to digest the information and practices in bite-sized (titrated) pieces. Enjoy!

    Today I can't even sit on a chair. I just stay in bed. People think I am lazy but I'm already doing my best and no one says thank you when I destroy myself for them. I just stopped explaining myself and let them be ignorant.

      It so darn hard to stop trying to explain it to people. And the more wishy washy I was it seemed the more people honed in on that to get me too to destroy myself trying to do things that just hurt me. I've finally realized at a late age that I am better if I just don't engage. Its never mattered and those people aren't around anymore anyhow.

      My father thinks he knows me but he is the one that misunderstands me the most. I told him this many times and he doesn't want to get it. I think it's best to accept that we are all ignorant in our own way.

    I didn’t have much stress or trauma as a child but did have a traumatic, verbally abusive marriage. I was healthy all my life until a year into that bad marriage. Could that be the cause of my CFS? It seems a lot of focus is on childhood trauma but could trauma/stress as an adult also cause this?

    • @teamlyon3109
      @teamlyon3109 4 роки тому +2

      Hi David, Jen here from Irene's team. Yes, accumulated stress experienced as an adult can certainly be a factor in causing CFS. It's also possible that someone may have in utero or birth trauma and not know it. I'll link to Irene's free Healing Trauma training. If you're interested in learning more, Irene talks about this in the series.

    Hi Irene, love your videos. Thank you. Does the nervous system have some kind of time-limit if these traumas are not treated? I saw family members who got into a very bad condition after 16-18 years of constant abuse and stress. Is this the tolerance limit of the nervous system? Thank you. Krisztina

    • @teamlyon3109
      @teamlyon3109 3 роки тому +4

      Hi selyemperzsa1, Jen here from Team Lyon. Nope, there's no time limit. You can heal from trauma at any age with the right support (though it does tend to happen more quickly when we're younger as our patterns are less ingrained).
      Symptoms related to trauma can appear at any time. In some people they happen early, in others they can take decades to develop, and sometimes a life change or event will be the trigger that leads to symptoms and/or an illness developing. If you haven't watched Irene's free Healing Trauma series yet, I'd recommend it.

    Hi Irene & team thank you for all you do!! I know this will be a tricky thing to answer but...
    Do you have any general stance or words of advice on ‘recalibrating’ and detoxifying ancient medicines like KAMBO (it’s an ancient frog poison medicine) when healing from this sort of long standing early trauma which then develops into chronic fatigue/pain syndromes?
    The practitioner tells me he would do less of it, knowing that the nervous system is more sensitive..
    I would really listen to you if you could say anything on it.
    Thank you!!!! Truly appreciate you! 🥼❤️🙏

      Hi Carly, Jen here from Team Lyon. When someone has early trauma we generally recommend people proceed with caution when it comes to using ancient medicine. When we have early trauma, we simply don't know how the system will respond. Always follow your impulses first, and if you're feeling cautious it might be worth doing sound foundational work (as Irene teaches in her online programs or with a trained practitioner) before exploring the medicine. Here's an article Seth Lyon, Irene's husband and colleague wrote on a related topic.

      KAMBO medicine cant heal trauma. It can maybe detoxify youre body for a while. It uses youre lymphatic system to clear it out. It is not a psychedelic expirience. It is bodaly. I tried it. In situation when you wnat to clear youre body wich will help you to feel youre body more but progressing, you need a lot of time and procedures. We like to heak yesterday wich is not possible. Our nervous system is too stressed in this world with many factors, but it supose to heal itself if we are not in survival stress. We should be able to know should we eat somwthing, how much we train our body, and we dont know it because we live in chronic state disregulation. So, Ive tried KAMBO, you cant heal trauma by it, but you can clear some toxins from the body wich is helpfull. Irenes work goes deep. It is not the point when trauma is going to reveal to us we dont have thw caoacity, or wires in our NS to heal it. And that is a bad idea. Her work is on regulation and pracitce tools to know what do to do when that energy of trauma kicks in. No medicine cant bring this up for you or me. We need to practice basic natural stuff each day by bit.

      Ah. Yes.
      Here's a possibility. Your system could be "stuck" in the freeze response.
      (see this video for more on that - ua-cam.com/video/9EyqPOI3auk/v-deo.html)
      When we're in freeze our system is focusing on surviving. It's exhausting work! Especially because under the freeze response is fight/flight energy which is most likely causing those kidney adrenal glands to be working extra hard, or even be totally depleted. (irenelyon.com/adrenal-fatigue-webinar)
      The reason why walking up 8 flights of stairs is no problems is because when we're in the freeze response, the focus of the system is to preserve - ie keep the heart beating slowly. So. When you're climbing up those stairs you're not getting out of breath and your heart isn't beating faster - therefore no problem.
      Healing/coming out of freeze is totally possible. My suggestion is to work with someone who is trained in Somatic Experiencing and/or has studied with Kathy Kain/Somatic Practice.
      Also, keep watching Irene's content for more insight. Education is a big piece in moving forward.
      Let me know if you have further questions on this.
