Halo Reach has a lot of hidden symbolism, much like the rest of the Halo franchise’s rich and multilayered lore.

Canon fact: Noble 6's "last stand" was canonically about 4 days long.
Wait, seriously?! XD
@@tformerdude6788Or in my words... Fuck it we ball till death
Why didn’t they just glass him?
@jordonmuskego3098 In the Halo books, it's explained that the Covenant avoided glassing that area because there was an underground Forerunner artifact.
But you know how it is in the halo lore? “Spartans never die”
"Six dies alone."
Me, looking at the piles of bodies around him: The _hell_ he did.
Badass comment
True. Also if you look around other dead bodies of Spartans are there too.
So yea he was not alone.
He may not have died among friends, but he certainly died among warriors that respected him.
I recently learned apparently in cannon the final stand mission is 4 days long and didn't get glasses because of an artifact hinting 6 may have lived but would have gone into a hibernation like state @@NaruSanavai
@cendresaphoenix1974 He didn't survive. So tired of this discussion.
Meanwhile, Jun, like a good sniper. Repositions, and runs away from conflict.

@qinxalim9764 and I think tried to recruit buck and palmer
He quite literally climbed out of reach via the space elevator
Can we just take a second to recognize that Emile had AN ENTIRE FUCKING BEAMSWORD shoved in his back and this mf was still throwing hands.
IM READY HOW ABOUT YOU
Emile is the best character, the best armor, the best humor, and the best death. Like I prefer him over Master Chief!
Emile is the fucking chosen one 😂
“Dying is gay, I’m out”
Jun, probably.
It would have been funny if he died off screen because he was always so sneaky.
😂💀
@mysticookami Halo would be better off without Power Rangers in space.
@@grievousmarkv crossover when? 🤣
He tripped and broke his neck on the way out escorting Dr Halsey. Totally confirmed by google
Jorge also said he'd never leave Reach, and then died in orbit above Reach.

@eyelesscargo9952 he could still be alive for all we know
Kat was also the tech specialist and died due to her shields being shorted out by the radiation from the nearby glassing
Every death in the game is ironic and fitting of the character, to be honest.
Jorge wanted to give his life for Reach and die on it to save the planet. But he died in orbit, above Reach, and his sacrifice didn't serve much purpose as the Covenant fleet pulled up right after he destroyed only one warship.
Kat's death, you already said it, was because of a shield malfunction, even tho she was the tech expert.
Jun, the guy that stays behind, went behind and left, ending up being the sole survivor of the team
Carter was the squad leader, giving orders and leading his team, and he ended up dying while giving his last orders and opening the way for Six and Emile, just like a leader would.
Emile, the CQB and blades expert, died to a Covenant's energy blade through the back before throwing himself off the gun's platform with the Elite.
And Six, the Lone Wolf, died fighting until the end, by himself, like a lone wolf.
@@trashoujunior3940 Yes, that is indeed the script from the short.
Solid idea, I like it

Not to sound like *that* kinda halo fan tho, but chief’s whole schtick is basically being the ultimate jack of all trades. There are better snipers, better stealth operatives, better cqc experts. There are stronger and faster and smarter spartans. He’s just the 2nd smartest. The 2nd fastest. He might be the best shot, but he’s damn close. So yeah i just wrote a paragraph and forgot what my original point was, bye-
I play the Halo Reach campaign anytime my therapist thinks he can catch a break

What has this poor therapist done to be inflicted such suffering ?

He would have had to man the gun while 6 fled with Keyes, so no.
@@techypriest7523 not being sarcastic but just imagine if they told a marine to take the gun after 6 and Emile cleared the area of ground forces. Just makes more sense in my mind
So you're just forgetting that he was willingly staying behind to operating the mass driver so the Autumn had a clear shot of escaping, no?
Nah, no reason to be pissed. Emile was ready to die since day one, and his helmet was for sure a Momento Mori for himself. That one day, he, too, would die. When it came to be his time, he didn't just take it and let go. Emile went out like the beast he was. Rabid, angry, and ready to die at a moment's notice. But if Emile was going to die, he made sure he would take his killer with him.

I'M READY ABOUT YOU!? - Emil before he stabs the Elite that killed him
Kat’s death was so out of pocket
If you really think about it, it makes perfect sense. Kat was the intelligence of noble and always came up with there strategies and plans. So for her to be randomly taken out by a elite zealot sniper while discussing a exit strategy just adds to the reality of the situation. They are all powerful super solders, but in the end can die like any human to a simple head shot. There’s also some symbolism in Kats dead with the fact that she was shot through her most valued organ, her brain, and could have easily been given and new robotic limb if she were shot anywhere else. All the deaths of noble team hit different but this one does feel like it’s out of left field. I definitely will remember completing a hard felt missing by myself rescuing squad after squad to then reunite with my own only to have a team member unexpectedly and un-theatrically die by the enemies that had followed us from our first mission.
Her shield were gone for one second 😔
Nah Emile’s was out of place
Yeah, she's the knowledge and sense, and her death is senseless and caused by lacking information on local enemy positions.

Gravity: Hello there
And Jun does what Jun does best, stay in the shadows and keep out of conflict.
I like too think that Kats death shows that not all Spartans go out in a blaze of glory but there just human and can die just like the rest of us
Spartans don't die they just go Mia
*to
Ive always thought that was the point of Kat's death. To show the hatsh realities of war. Not everyone gets a hero's death. Not every death means something. War is brutal and cruel. Sometimes, heros just die
Sometimes, you just get hit. That's war.
Her brain went mia man
Jun the stealth disappeared
And went on to recruit spartan 4s
He was a sniper who distanced himself from everybody.
Nah he pussy out he big chicken coward face it should have been him not emile
Wow nice comparison. Needs to get pinned
Kat’s death while one of the most disappointing is one of the most important. Because it shows that death isn’t always on your terms and that it can happen to anybody even in the simplest ways
Wow, so many memories, so many emotions. Great game and great time to be alive.
The only one who survives is caboose
True
Jun
"Crevice to the east" -emile
"Crust is made with yeast" -caboose
He becomes an important part of the books after the events of reach
Cortana with human skin: “Say the words please.”
Caboose: “The words please.”
Then there's Jun, he probably went out to get some milk
if you want to know what happened to him, beyond the joke of the matter, read "A Fistful of Arrows" while not explicitly canon both 343i and Bungie have recognized it to an extent, so it's as close to an explanation as we're probably going to get on how he made it off Reach unless we get a novel from his perspective.
Jorge also stated that he would never leave Reach but he died off world. Kat was always very particular about secure communications and the one time she didn’t happened to be the time that she was sniped, the shot was so perfect they had to know where they were.
Damn... I never thought about Noble 6's death like that, he died alone on a burning planet even years later after the war, no one knew about noble 6's Alamo😢
Jun knew which way the wind was blowing, and it wasn't in his favor.
in the lore, he left with halsey to avoid her being captured by the covenant, as commanded by carter. he suffers survivors guilt and was severely depressed
With 6, not only do they die returning to their lone wolf past, but they live up to the hyper lethal title they hold in lore as the book version of Halo Reach states it took an entire army of Covenant armor and infantry to take them out.
The information sheet for Spartans in Halo: Ground Command mentions that "each Spartan is a hyper-lethal special forces operative".
@@GsQDoom True, but Noble 6 was one of only two that ended up earning the distinction of being hyper-lethal, even when compared to only other Spartans. The other is John-117, the famous Master Chief from the original Halo trilogy.
@@1Scimetar if you're referring to the video games exclusively then you would be correct. If you refer to the totality of halo lore, you would be incorrect.
@@GsQDoomoriginal bungie canon stated theres only 2 Spartans who ever existed that bear the title "hyper-lethal" noble six was so good, they're classified as "Oni's personal grim reaper" unfortunately 343 retconned this for no reason
@@leschroder7773 thanks for clarifying the fact of the matter in a more elegant way.
I actually found Kats death the best in terms of shock and realism, there was no final stand for her, no way of knowing, just a swift and instant death, it was ironic for the symbolism (countless others have already) but simply put Kats death felt the most realistic for the sudden drop and shock
Truly a war feeling scenario. Nothings planned it just happens.
Aside from 6, Emile’s Death was also pretty personal. I thought that fit him as well. Considering his back story and all, him always getting up close and getting even when he can. He then kills a zealot, and is killed by one right after, evening the score.
I also LOVE that we see the elite look at him before being stabbed. Reminds me of that halo wars trailer where the elite stabs the dead marine and stares at him before throwing him away.
Reach is proof that stealth builds are the best
Halo reach is such a good game, so many easter eggs and lore behind it. I freaking love it.
Justice for my boy jorge, he carried me through most of the story
@@ThetacomaninnitJorge is is so underated he's defo my favorite I was so sad that he was the first to die
Honestly my biggest complaint with Reach was the lack of lore. It was the only game with an on-the-ground character driven story rather than something with galaxy-spanning lore implications.
@@davidn4956 Bruh the events that happened there led to galaxy-spanning lore implications. If it wasn't for Noble Team's defense of Reach AND the delivery of Cortana to the Pillar of Autumn, Master Chief wouldn't have made it as far as he did.
@@SuperNovaDragonYT I get that, but the game itself didn't explore any cool Forerunner worlds or give us any insight into them whatsoever after Halo 3 decided to continue keeping them mysterious (Halo 4 finally opened it all up), and it didn't expand upon anything new. It was a story that we already knew everything about going into it and it decided to focus on a cast of characters with minimally developed personalities and mission plotlines that amounted to Carter just saying "Okay Noble, we got a job to do, let's get it done".
Noble one had one of the best cinematic last stands in gaming history.

It's cool that Emile still took out the Elite that stabbed him before he died, showing his proficiency in close quarters even in his dying moments.
Then there's Jun. The stealth and Sniper of the team, survives and escapes without a word
6, Carter and Emilee went out like mothafuckin badasses
It's never mentioned that 6 dies just that the lone wolf battle lasted 4 days cannon wise because they were hesitant to glass the area for an artifact. In a sense it's very possible 6 gained the artifact and is currently in a hibernation-like state.
All of noble team death was quite sad
Facts
How? Their flat and boring personalities were shit. I didn't give a flying rat's ass about any of them at any point throughout the game. The only emotion I felt playing that game was happiness when the credits rolled because that nightmare of a game was finally over, than annoyance that they saddled me with a pointless after-credit mission.
Halo 3's storytelling might have been bland, but at least it still has some memorable moments in its missions. Reach was proof that Bungie was a dying studio and I'm glad Halo was taken away from them when it was. For all the issues 343 has had, Bungie wouldn't have been any better.
@@regnumsolipsi5935bro what? reach tells the story leading into Halo CE. it sets up the main games PERFECTLY. Character development was perfect, and seeing each character die definitely made you emotional. Noble 6 was a hyper-lethal lone wolf who noble team didn’t trust coming in, and then trusted him with CORTANA, after everything he did to ensure noble team fulfilled their missions. i could go back to reach and follow the story perfectly, and could even write an essay on the story, and on each of the squad members.
@@blackopsfan55 I didn't say the story was incoherent or hard to follow. I said it was absolute garbage and wasn't a game worth making. Besides it just not having any kind of meaningful characters or events to speak of, it is absolutely rife with plotholes and inconsistencies that screw up the already-established canon of the far superior 'Fall of Reach' story.)
@@regnumsolipsi5935 You are either troll baiting or need to be put in a mental ward as your bipolar schizophrenia is clearly on the fritz again
The player character's death is also fitting thematically, as the player we can get through anything given enough time, attempts, and brute force. But ours was a mission that the game never allows us to complete, a genuinely impossible objective that no matter how much struggle we put in, always ends the same.
And Jun goes down as a family man after years of retirement, surrounded by family
Noble didnt die alone we witness his bravery and strength. He had an audience with millions. Watching George die was hard. Seeing 6 fighting to his last breath destroyed me. Best game ever
God how pathetic
And Jun… went on to live until July😂
Also a clever bit of wordplay. Carter says: “That Lone Wolf stuff stays behind” in the intro.
The Lone Wolf did indeed stay behind in the end
My favorite thing about this whole game is we kind of knew already how it's going to happen what's going to end and yet watching it all unfold and still hit us to this day
Was 7 at the time when I beat it and I had no idea none of these things will happen. I thought it was just a one-member death and it was all. I remember just having 2 other Spartans, and then 1 in the missions until it was just me. I stayed in denial at 6’s death and realized years later that he actually did die. Game hits good.
when everyone realizes that jun just vanishes into the ether
Jun, the sniper, the opportunist, gets lucky and gets the opportunity to just leave
There's a few more layers to Jorge and Kat's death that I think people miss. Jorge was also a heavy weapons expert, since he operated a heavy machine gun, and the fact he dies operating a _very_ heavy weapon is even more ironic.
Kat, on the other hand, was the technical specialist, and her death was the result of a technical malfunction on her shield's part, thanks to the radiation from the glassing beam overloading her generators. The fact it went through her head is just perfect.
Also, in old Bungie lore, it's never really known what happens to Jun after his final appearance, which is very fitting with his character being the enigmatic but full of information type of guy. His departure isn't exactly a mystery and yet we're left with very little information on what happens to him after. I feel like that works so much better than what 343 did.
When chief and the other Spartans return to reach and find 6, he is surrounded by a literal army of dead covenant...

I don't think it's very hidden, not all symbolism Hass to be hidden. The developers definitely meant for us to see that the brute went out with a bang, the smart girl went out by her brain, the knife guy got stabbed, and the commander went down with his ship
Oh and the Lonewolf went out alone
"And remember, that lone wolf stuff.. stays behind."
“Kat, the intelligence officer dies in the dumbest way possible.”
jun survived because he was one of the silent one and the other ones specialized at making noise and getting attention as an ops team that had lots of information makes sense jun would survive
Lmao what the fuck kind of reasoning is that 😂
@@red_menace1829 im saying jun drew less attention to the covenant
Jun was far from silent, it's even stated that his tendency to talk on operations goes against UNSC noise discipline protocols. If anything, the one who should have survived by that reasoning is Noble Six, because they were the quietest and most discreet member of the team yet.
I guess we got different type of symbolism because George shows how things can quickly change. Cat shows that no matter who you can trust, you'll end up trusting that person. Carter sacrifices himself because a good soldier puts down their own life for victory, Noble III died because of his own cockiness, that noble 6 said he'd promised Carter to leave that lone wolf stuff behind died alone
I KNOW you did not just have Caboose die to those elites, when he’s got Church’s sniper rifle

Spartans never die, they're just Missing in Action.

he didn't run away, he was commanded by carter to escort Halsey out
Theres a non canon fanfic that talks about what happened afterwards. Its a good story, but i woukd prefer Juns death at the end, hes a cool character, but i feel like knowing the rest of his team was dead, would probably sacrifice himself aswell.

Noble 6, the only guy to earn the same threat designation as chief.
One of the best lines of that game and.mind you the first time I played Halo properlt was at 26, im 27 but all those years i missed
But the greatest line in reach was when Emile get stabbed fighting that last Zealot and says "I'm ready how about you" and goes down killing that zealot too. That one line just resonates with me
Me and my brother recently played this game together and it was fun but now I know why halo was so popular back before 2010
This was also my first halo game
I remember hashing out theories while playing Reach in the old days. This was one of mine. I used to grind the campaign on legendary and really immerse myself in the world. I called these deaths out every. single. playthrough.
Brains got brained, Close Quarters specialist got snuck up on and stabbed, captain always goes down with the ship and George died for the planet he loved.
6 is alive in a cave rebuilding humanity .
and my boy Jun?
Doesn’t die 😎
(Que Beat It instrumental)
You made me bring back a dark day. I cried when I watched them die, and now I can’t let NPCs die in game, or I get really sad
I think there is symbolism in Jim serving, the Sniper watching the fight from afar. Had to sit back and watch his team die without him.
You could say Kat, the smart one, died because her tech failed. Or she didnt pay attention to small details that would have fixed her shields. She also made a mistake in pressing the elevator button a bit late.
And Jun, the long-range marksman, watches all of it happen from his seat on a ship going away from the fight
Mean while Jun
Teaches can't run from death
I have never, ever, replayed one campaign more in my life than Halo Reach. I’ve played a ton of solo story games but Halo Reach is the one I always come back to. My favorite mission is the pillar of autumn.
I remember hearing this back when reach was big during a game of swat. Those were the days
And Jun, the sneaky dog, sneaks away from Reach falling and certain death 😂
crazy how he got stabbed through his back in two spots then immediately turned around and started throwing hands again
I really like that at the beginning of the story Carter tells you to leave the lone wolf stuff behind since you’re now in a team and at the end of the story it ends with you the only member left being a lone wolf for the last time.
I like to believe jun goes down with his team on reach silently off screen... like a true sniper
Jun must adopted the red vs blue Sarge’s plan to make an immediate retreat when everyone else has died.
I still remember playing this back in the day, good memories
This is by far my favorite Halo game, with it being the I grew up with playing the most of after finally owning my own 360. And I wish more every time I see a video that not only the characters dying wasn’t spoiled for me before getting a chance to play it, I wish more than anything I could experience this game as a fresh experience not knowing anything about it. This game is awesome.
Jun: climbs a freaking space elevator to get better positioning.
I saw on another video stating how Kat died due to the covenant triangulating their location when Carter asked her to communicate with some one on an unencrypted line.
Goddamnit I love halo reach anytime I’m reminded of it I get immediate goosebumps
Bro I shed a tear after getting the "The soldier we needed you to be" achievement
I’ve heard at least 3 meanings behind Jorge’s death
jorge the heavy weapons expert dies from a large explosion, kat the tech expert dies from a shield malfunction, jun vanishes like a sniper does
And Jun, the sniper who was always distant from the others was separated and then found his way off reach.
