Why The New White Dial Omega Speedmaster Pro Is SO GOOD (And Why It’s Priced Right...Technically)

- A few days ago Omega released the new white dial Speedmaster Professional “Daniel Craig” after teasing us with the new watch last year. There was a lot of excitement but now that it is finally here is it actually as good as we thought it would be? I sure think so. So much so that I would love to add one to the collection to join my 1863 black dial sapphire sandwich Speedy.
So in this video we're going to go over what this watch is all about, why I'm loving it so much, but also whether I think the watch itself and the price is worth it. Because despite the big price tag, I actually think it’s priced right…well technically.

I have been lusting for a Speedy Pro for some time now. With this white one- I am totally torn. Can't wait to see it in the metal.
When some people are paying well over 30k for a chronograph that’s named after a Florida race track, this white dial moon watch seems like a bargain to me.
The Barbados raceway? Sounds like a lovely chronograph well worth the 30k.
I completely agree TWI, this white dial Speedy looks fantastic. It takes some cues from the SMP300M 'Great White' in some ways, black applied hour markers (black surround plots on the SMP) and hands, red 'Speedmaster' compares to the red 'Seamaster' in a similar font and the red tip to the second hand. Like you I have the old 1863 and never felt the need to change to the 3861 but with this new model it could be tempting someway down the line if I could justify it. I have no intention of selling my trusty old 1863 though so any purchase is going to be long after the fuss and buzz has calmed down. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I’ve had the vintage 145.022 Caliber 861 for several years, which incidentally being serviced with Omega. I’m in to purchase this latest white dial. Hope I’ll receive it very soon.

The announcement of the white Speedmaster prompted me to take my white Seamaster out of the roll and wear it again.
I own the Hesalite 3861, pre-microadjust clasp, but I've always kinda wanted a display back. While those two things won't necessarily compel me to immediately put myself on a list, the new dial is interesting and tempting.

1:42 there's a regular production white canopus gold speedy pro as well. All white dial (less of a laquered dial and more of a silvery finish but still looks all white overall).
Held both in my hands again yesterday and yes indeed the Canopus Gold is more silver than white per se. Nothing beats the pureness and glossiness of the “Craig White” white-dial. Even compared to the SMP 300m “Great White” the white is even more pure on this new release. Someone needs to see it in person

Omegas done well with this one the black indices really do make all the difference but I must say the inflation conversion the off quite a bit bc I was expecting the price of your watch to be far less but numbers work in a funny way😅
Yeah there black/gray indices and hands are going to look so good in real life I can't wait to see the watch in person. Yeah numbers are funny lol I do wish that my sorry was worth 7800 tho right now bc it would have made my mental calculus very interesting given how tempting the watch is😅

Nice white omega but i hope there are not going to do like rolex and became to sell it only to grey merket and soon it will 3 time the original price...perhaps swatch will do it soon too...

Yeah I was really surprised when I found out as well but not having hacking seconds here doesnt irritate me as much as not having hacking seconds on my SKXs. Quite possibly since the SKXs dont have hand winding on top of that lol! Glad you enjoyed the video😄

I wish they went with a deep matte blasted black color for the indices and hands, not this gunmetal grey shiny pvd, in certain lights it's not very legible at all, plus it looks worse.
Yeah matte or brushed hands and indices would have been pretty cool for full legibility bc like you said some angles its not the most legible but the hands and indices on my seiko SPB313 slim willard are finished the same way and i havent had any issues with legibility overall since the dial is stark white. So hopefully it would be the same case for the speedy if one day in the far future i get one lol😄
Honestly i prefer the Speedmaster 57 automatic in white
"Dot over 90" what do you mean by that? New to Omega's 😅
No problem! Dot over 90 or DON for short is referring to the 90 on the tachymeter bezel (just by the 8 o clock position) and the placement of the dot that marks the 90. Early speedys back in the day had the dot above the 90 and they are highly sought after by collectors. Newer speedys like mine had the dot next to the 90. So with this latest upgraded version, Omega as a nod to the collector community put the dot over the 90.
It's such a bizarrely minute detail but it makes all the difference to many hardcore speedy fans. I'm relatively indifferent about the placement of the dot, but I love the fact that this is even a thing!! If you want more info on this just search dot over 90 on Fratello Watches' site and I'm sure they'll have a far more detailed explanation😁

I feel this is a watch for people that have too many watches. If I had to have a speedy the black looks better and if I wanted a white. Dial the explorer 2 is similar money and for me personally it’s a no brainer.
For me this feels like style over substance, it’s just too flashy for me . That said it does look good.
It isn’t like you can go inside a Rolex AD and go out with a white Explorer 2. That’s the painful part.

Ah you need to try the 3861 bracelet. I have a tiny wrist too but managed to wear one.
for me the major down side is the shitty clasp especially when you compare it to the silder that rolex offers for that similair price point
Rolex doesn't offer that clasp for the Daytona. The clasp they offer is similar to what Omega is offering here.
Rolex uses a much better quality bracelet that’s not made in China so there’s that.
