Thank you SO much for this video. I have been really going back and forth about putting my other cars on different platforms (like Getaround) for a while to determine which is better but I think I am sticking with Turo. It is a bit more leg work but I like the control and I think there is something to be said about the guest experience being part of our success.
Thank you for this post! I am also new to Getaround and listed 1 car. Today is day 30 with them. Car rented 8 days. My experience has been very similar to yours. I initially planned a 5-10 car fleet between Phoenix and Southern California, but now changed my plan to only 2-3 until Getaround gets used more frequently. I will continue with Getaround and not Turo bc i need the less passivity of Getaround. My conclusion is first month with Getaround is ok, but far from excellent. Thanks again
Agree with you completely! I think there is a lot of potential but too much up in the air right now to be certain of which way getaround could head. July is panning out to be a pretty decent month though
Getaround claims took 6 months to repair my car. That was in 19. On the bright side, I had a fleet of 5 cars in SF and they were booked at 95% occupancy, making in the range of 700-1100/mo. all I did was clean each car 2x / wk, so that was a good return on effort.
@@teeshantel9211 the issue is what cars are in your area, that gives you a sense of how low you'll have to charge. GA's pricing model works pretty well in SF, and the full range of cars work here. I'd be more concerned about durability/reliability/maintenance costs and depreciation. In this regard, I have not found a path to profitability with German cars.
hey Aub, hope all is well with you and your family. thanks for the great content. quick question, what tech / device do you use on your vehicles to unlock and lock your doors to let your guest in?
Thanks for the comparison Aubrey; I've got an older Rav4... I'm about to list with get around... Then a New Jeep Wrangler for Turo eventually! Sad to hear about your vehicle being damaged already! Curious to know how that compensation finalizes!
How does it work with insurance on all these platforms? It seems like the cars get damaged multiple times a year. How does that work with insurance and the value of the car? That is my only concern with this whole setup... seems like once a month a car is damaged in some way.. :-(
your comment re: GA being a companion hustle is interesting. i've found that the two platforms serve different customers, both on the guest side, and on the host side. GA emphasizes the short term nature / ease of access, and less the life changing experience of driving car xyz. practically speaking, you can't have more than 6 hours notice on GA, whereas Turo lets you approve guests individually, offer extras (and get paid for it). the feedback systems (rating a guest, rating a host) are totally different.
@@KarelleDIY I hear you. My neighbor is also pulling down thousands of dollars each month (w/some issues) so it depends on who you ask. She has been lucky enough to get good renters. What market are you in?
@@adornmp4692 Yes, good renters are the key! Last year I was getting over 2k a month with 3 cars, but I had to stop. They were not reimbursing me for tickets and gas. You'd give some of these renters a full tank of gas they would return it empty or tell you to come pick the car up. It's not worth it renting your car out for 2 days and making $60 but then you have to pay a $75 red light ticket from that rental! Also tolls are another big issue. Hyrecar also states that now all tolls and ticket fees are the responsibility of the owner to collect from the renter. Good luck with that! I hope your neighbor can keep those good renters.
@@adornmp4692 I am in Baltimore. The demand is huge here, but if you come across renters that aren't long term, the majority of them will not reimburse you for their camera citations.
That's a good question! I am not sure to be honest, I didn't install it, getaround made me take it to cartoys and they installed it and I am not sure how they did it
Man not going to lie the negatives on Getaround are pretty bad. Especially the payout system. It’s too passive a for business that needs to be somewhat hands on
The payout is my favorite part. I have 8 vehicles on getaround and 12 on turo. So I get constant deposits from turo then 1 big one every month I then take my getaround earnings and they usually cover all my car related base expenses payments, insurance and parking.
Getaround in Europe sucks, still. No communication possible with hosts, and worst of all NO filters, so if you’re looking for a specific car and there are lots of them, you literally have to go through pages and pages of cars to find the cheapest one! No kidding, you don’t have the possibility to sort by price or distance!! FAIL!!

Use code "GETAROUND" to get $25 off The Car Sharing Masterclass found HERE: aubreyjanik.teachable.com/p/the-car-sharing-masterclass
On the website it says it has to be under 125k miles

Outside of the claim, are you making great income monthly? Would you stick with mid size cars for Getaround vs. high end?

thanks for your service putting out good content on this subject matter. Cheers.
I searched for a car in La and the nicest car was an Alfa Stelvio...I hate Turo's fees, but as far as selection goes, nothing compares at the moment.
Thank you for your great video! Hope you feel much better soon girl!
What is your remote process with Turo? I'm looking to get into the business and would love to learn from someone experienced!
Tried to sign up for your class. Cannot get past the sign up page. Strange. Finally gave up. Will just watch your you tube videos. Thanks for sharing.

Would love to know this as well
These companies are essentially insurance companies. You run insurance and claim through them. Not through your personal one.
Excellent info thanks keep up the great share 👍🏽
The good news is is that the market is changing quickly. In the next few months there will be huge savings from dealers who are over leveraged.
Yes!

could you explain me that please? i am new, what is the different between turo customers and GA Customers
Love this comparison can you do one for Hyrecar? And what happened to Justin? Take care of yourself...we need you in The Metroplex!
Hyrecar sucks really really bad. DO NOT do Hyrecar. You’ve been warned

When your car hits over 130k miles do you have to pull it from your fleet???
No, not from Turo.
I’m in Austin, my battery drains from the Getaround. Connect on all my cars. It’s so annoying. I get calls from customers in the middle of the night!
Wow, there's now way to adjust the frequency of the GPS tracking? Maybe leaving a back up battery- jumper kit might be a (not cheap) solution!?
Can you hook the box up to an auxiliary power source so it is only on when the car is turned on?

I have a question you can’t not have one car on both turo and geta around
Awesome video!
Aubrey “Platform” Janik .
I’m joking but this was a great video 💯
Which is better in the Chicago Market?
Very helpful video
I cross list on Getaround and turo though
Careful, definitely against Turo ToS.
Thank you
what about hagerty drive share??
Very nice thank you
What about avail?
How do you list your car on getaround? Been trying for like a week. It’s telling me they’ll contact me but never do.
what state are you from?

You can only list on turo....
"How Will They Know?" 🤔
You shouldn't list on multiple platforms reason why you don't want your vehicle booked at the same time.
Take a few days off, you're overworking and wearing yourself down
