Ive had toyotas the past 40 yrs...and loved them . The most reliable toyota right now is the 4 runner, because it is made in Japan. Lately, the past 5 yrs or so many of them made in usa ....have not been consistant. The 4 runner, meanwhile, has the MPG of a fiftys vehicle.
These days i like the reliability of Mazda,
Hard to go wrong with Honda and Toyota.
Fast in a straight line.. around any corner.. having fun driving.. Toyotas do that wrong, and I'd never rent one.

I had a brand new 2013 Sentra. 3 years ac went out and eventually after 7 years kept breaking down. Nissan was Never was able to diagnose it. Probably transmission.
Question do get more local guest or to you deal more with airport guest? I'm looking to get a second vehicle for turo and all my trips have been from airport guest I'm in Tampa fl
Recently it has been a lot of people coming to Dallas, but I think a big part of that is Summer/Post-Pandemic Travel. Historically it's been mostly local

I had a Hyundai Sanata FE 2.2 diesel Automatic 4wd drive. Excellent engine, excellent car, very good fuel milage. Super reliable. Get a dieser and no worries... However i have no idea how common they are in US.

Love your videos but in your top 10 to buy you said the ford focus 2012 was good. In this video your saying that it is not. Probably just a mistake in the years could you please clarify.

Had me in my feelings about your comment on the BMW 3-series. I have to two of them. Putting one on the platform next week and my BMW 328i coupe is doing pretty good on the ROI, but I will agree they can be pricey to repair. Make friends with a German car repairman. It will save you some bucks :)

I was thinking the same thing. Every car report list the 3 series as reliable. However, they can be expensive.

I only have BMWs on Turo. They do great, and I’ve literally had no problems with them outside of regular maintenance. I’ve got a great oil-service plan with BMW that costs next to nothing, and there are plenty of good euro mechanics in my area charging 10% of what the dealerships charge. People love these cars, and want to rent them!

Great advice I totally agree with hyundai (howyoudie) , totally stay away from kia and hyundai, ford, the best cars are toyota where you only needs your fluids, tires and brakes...
Im gonna have to disagree with the mitsubishi mirage even if you have a transmission issue, a new trans can be found dirt cheap....400-500 dollars.
You talk about BMW 3 series. What about the BMW 5 series ?
Also if anyone watched doug demuro he did a vid on the mitsubishi mirage. He showed how much of a chappy car it was and it was super cheap but not in a good way. It didn't even have power steering
So what happens once you hit the 130k miles does it kick you out?

I'm surprised you didn't add the Honda CR-V in the list, especially 2011. I got a 2011 Honda CR-V and it has some mechanical issues and nearly impossible to fix cause it's so expensive. A new engine and Transmission by it's self will cost me around $10,000-$20,000 if I were to get it repaired at the shop that I got the car at. The vehicle is only worth maybe $4,000-9,800 depending on the year and model of the car. I'm paying $14,000 for the car. I had the car for a year and a half and it's have issues with the vehicle.
Lesson learned NEVER BUY A HONDA CR-V and expect it to be a good car for you.

Same thing as Honda Odyssey is those years. Certain years of Honda has issues with transmission. I would rather get Kia and Hyundai nowadays instead of Honda. Yes Toyota is great. No, Honda is not what it used to be. Same as Acura.

Not bad as long as you arent above market you should be ok.
Parts are pretty cheap for Hyundai as well.

Audi's are killing it up here in AK. Renting for 200+/day. They are pricey to fix but it's extremely tempting. I'm going to be looking at a Q5 today.
I bought a Audi Q7 and been having problems repeatedly. Worst car I have had. Stay in the shop and it's always expensive.
Only investment in Audi if you are a good mechanic or know a good one yourself. The dealership will quote you the price of the car itself for regular maintenance smh. Brakes are 1700 for all 4 with resurfaced rotors at the dealership!
But they are beautiful!!
LOL @ The types of people who purchase and bring in Audi's for service. That's me! My Turo guests and profit margins in the Miami market LOVE my Audi. So much so that I am adding two more this month.

I have been wrenching on vehicles as a professionally for 15 years and yes - Audis consistently pay my bills.
I have a Camry Le 2008 I bought 4 years unfortunately it hasn’t been what I expected. Already spend over 4K in car repair overs the last 2 years & probably gonna have top replace evap system & tires. I’m planningto sell it then buy a new Honda civil before it brakes down again 😤
Toyota’s are overrated my uncle had to fix the transmission on one of them & he’s actually a mechanic 🙄

agree with the beetle being niche, however vw parts are plentiful and cheap. i don't know why they get such a reputation of being expensive to repair. they specialize in economy cars and share parts for all their vehicles (especially anything on mqb platform)

What’s your opinion about a Mini Cooper on Turo?
I have a Mini Cooper Countryman! It stays gone the problem is the maintenance 😢😢😢. It is expensive. If I had to do it again I would lease one to avoid the maintenance costs
Ask me about a Ford Fiesta and the transmission issue? Go ahead, ask me? Such a great car to be saddled with such a terrible transmission. Ford let the car out knowing the transmission was bad. When my daughter's transmission died, it was about 900 miles over the 100,000 extended warranty. $1,500 later I got the issue fixed and sold the car for $3,000.

Stay away from Nissan .my pathfinder cvt went out in the first 30 days and at 97k Miles. Glad I had the Geico extended warranty. Paid 250 to replace transmission.
Advice number 1 : Never buy a car for Turo with more than 60K Miles on it , considering you could easily get 20K miles/year with Turo rentals and if you plan on keeping the car for at least 3 years do the math. Any car of any brand after the 90K miles threshold is subject to bigger issues such as transmission etc.. if you think long term that will help
VW is known for electrical gremlins...great cars otherwise though.
