I marinated this for 24 hours and am now roasting and have the carrot and daikon pickling. I am looking forward to this sandwich as are my guests. Your videos are awesome. relax, dude. it's just a recipe -- a suggestion. he made one version. i'm making one for dinner tonight that uses roasted Cajun white boudin with roasted red bell peppers and pickled jalapeno slices, with a mayo/stone-ground mustard spread mixed with black pepper and celery seeds. and i don't have a baguette, either -- just a store-bought French onion loaf, like a sub roll. it may not be what YOU consider to be kosher or *de rigueur*, but it looks and sounds delectable! in the future, i'm considering making a version with pulled pork, too. just think of this offering as *Banh Mi a la STCGO*.

Have you ever been to Vietnam? There's countless variations on the Bánh mì. Mayo, no mayo, pate, no pate, pickles, no pickles. Christ there's even Doner Kebab Bánh mì's available now with mayo. You say there's different kinds in regards to the meat, it varies by regions - the meat is almost always interchangeable. Saigon will have the corriander, pickles, cucumber, other areas maybe not. His baguette also wasn't made with rice flour, does that make it 'not an OG Bánh mì'?
Vietnamese person here: This looks amazing. The pork isn't done in the traditional way but honestly with the inclusion of fish sauce in the marinade and the pickles I'd serve this to my mom any day. Side note: we usually use butter rather than mayo on the bread but mayo sounds good too.

Yeah, just had to come back to an olde fave. Made it many times pre-pandemic, but with things being weird/up/down/all around here in Canada, it just fell off the radar for a few years. I do a lot of the recipes from STCG on a decent rotation: substituting the Gluten based stuff for GF. I'm SO SORRY, wee Banh Mi. My other half is SO EXCITED for this tomorrow night....well, because, a decent 24 hr marinade never hurt anyone. Keep on Rockin' STCG. As for tonight, it's fend for myself night. GF Pasta, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, parmesan cheese with a mix of lean ground pork and beef....as a casserole -style dish. Cheap, fun and yum. Thanks again, STCG! Honestly your channel is entertaining I don’t even make any of these recipes. That being said I did make this banh mi. Subbed the Japanese mayo for regular mayo and used sriracha instead of jalapeños. In case you haven’t tried it. Make pho and banh mi together and dip the sandwich in the pho…..life changing. If you like this Bahn Mi recipe, search for Sam's earlier vids. He does one with chicken that is also amazing. It's from 2014 and I don't know why, but many of his early shows barely got "liked". The chicken got just over 200, while this has 1.7k. I dig them all. Thanks Sam!
