There are many different reasons why you would be replacing and removing the tipm fuse box. Sometimes it will cause malfunction in abs system, air bag system, check engine light, etc...I've seen it all and it is a common thing for totally integrated power module to fail on Dodge Grand Caravans, especially 2011 - 2013.
I suggest removing the battery first to get more space to work. Then remove the 13mm nut which is securing the fuse box and then unclip 4 clips, one in each corner. Raise the TIPM and unplug all of the connections on the back of it. That's it.
    Thanks for watching.

Thanks dude!!!! You helped me save my brother and sister in-law a ton of money. I hate auto mechanics. They are a bunch of spineless crooks.

I removed the tipm , cleaned the electronic circuit, cover with some locker on some spots and so far no problems at all. It was draining my battery, when turning it was turning on belt light, stuttering when starting the van etc

Hi hard to say what is going on without looking at the vehicle but code points towards communication error between pcm and transmission module. If there is no drivability issues I would first make sure software is up to date and for that vehicle would have to go to a dodge dealer to update it

When you replace the TIPM I expect there needs to be some reprogramming. Does that require a sophisticated scan tool?

No programming needed on grand caravan. But it has to be the exact same part number

I broke the hinge of the whitish lever of the first green clip you demonstrated - even though your directions were very clear. (my bad big time). What is the likelihood of it working without securing that clip back in with that lever? I was taking it off to cleanup the internal TIPM connections in an attempt to not shell out more money for my 2009 Grand Caravan with 230k miles. Hoping I can get another year out of her. I believe the TIPM is the source of my starting problems.

Hi, sorry to hear this happened to you. It will work once you plug it back in, but the problem is if you will be able to secure it good enough so while you drive it doesn't disconnect. You could hit a bump on the road or it could just pop out over time due to vibrations. If that happens you could be in lots of trouble as the van will shut off probably. Best idea would be to just replace that connector

The new TIPM would have to be programmed, wouldn't it?

No, its plug and play. No programming needed. But it has to be exact same part #

@@QuiteAlright ok. I need one, but was told by mechanics I have to go through the dealer with the excuse it needs to be programmed. But it would be loads cheaper to do it myself.
So if I buy a new one, I should be able to do it myself? And worse case scenario I guess I take the new one and van to the dealer service center I guess.

@@ReverendDrRed Just go to the car wreckers and pull out one and install in your van. Will cost you max $50. Thats what I did

@@ReverendDrRed And make sure all the fuses & relays are installed in same slots as your old tipm

@@QuiteAlright did the one you got from the wreckers work? Like the key to open doors still works and you didn’t need to reprogram the TIPM from the wrecker ?
