According to art historian Dr. James Fox, the color blue is rarer in nature (e.g., so many fewer blue flowers, or the rare lapis lazuli stone), but it is humanity's favorite color! He conjectures that it is our desire to reach/touch the ethereal blue of the sea and sky.
My real name is Lazuli. I used to hate my name so much because it is not a common name where I live. But I started to love it more and more as I grow older☺
When I was only 13, my grandmother bought me a three piece outfit that you never see on children of that age: a loden green pleated skirt, a mock turtleneck in the same shade of green and a v-neck vest of robin's egg blue, trimmed in loden green. I remember feeling so sophisticated in that outfit.
Can you do one for lilac/light violet? I feel like its becoming very popular and everyone is wearing it but I would want to look more classy and elegant and not so "trendy" 🥰
Light blue and dark green reminds me of peaceful walks through an evergreen forest. So beautiful! With a brown shoe?? 😍 light blue, old gold/champagne, white were my wedding colors. Had an outside wedding by the river in the summer and it was gorgeous! These colors were also my college colors
@@nykka3 unc- chapel hill! The tarheels! The colors are light blue and white. Tan, gold, champagne are common accents in campus buildings. The theater has a beautifully ornate blue white and gold ceiling and that is where I got my inspiration for my wedding colors
Hi Audrey, I really love how you incorporate the different images that show different body types, heights, skin color, and ages. Light blue is one of my favourite colours and I loved how you described it as treating it like a neutral! You’ve given me some more ideas of how to wear my current wardrobe! Thank you! ❤️🇨🇦
The inclusion of the colour samples really highlighted how differently the lighter and darker shades of blue affect our psyche. This video has emboldened me to include more light blue in my wardrobe.
I would also say that light blue compliments well with grey and silver. And this rule applies to older people who already have grey hair and have blue eyes... I think it looks so beautiful!!
Yes! My grandmother was a Greek woman with piercing light blue eyes and jet black hair in her youth which turned icy silver. Such a beautiful color combination.
Thank you for choosing light blue and bringing the hope of spring and warm days into my cold, February morning! I love how you curate the images to support your theme, Audrey. I don’t think there was a single image in this video that I didn’t find inspirational. I used to dislike light blue because I found it was often the colour of choice for generic, fast fashion- tacky blouses and whatnot. I certainly don’t feel that way about anymore, and I agree with you that it makes me think of blue skies and lovely days. I wear it with white and black and thanks to your ideas i will open that up!
Ice/baby blue with chocolate brown....the mix of pale blue linen and dark chocolate corduroy looks very elegant and works incredibly well...bluebells against the earth perhaps in nature......Love this color series...Big Hugs Sweet Girl..
I know for a fact that I don’t suit blue, but I watched this because I simply love watching your videos. Your videos are all so relaxing and beautiful.
I’m listening to you with my headphones on. I received more peace and tranquility when you describe the color palates with that sweet voice of yours. As always great content. Thank you Audrey. 💕
So wonderful! Absolutely adore the light blue with shades of green! I love green but never really knew what to pair it with - a green sweater with light blue jeans will now join my wardrobe. Thank you! X
I would like to see a talk about pastels in general. Spring is coming and that means pastels in fashion and design. How to choose the right pastel and how to combine them with other colours.
Purple and violet look fantastic with light blue. I started a trend in high school five decades ago by wearing purple and light blue to classes one day.
Once I ditched my perceived need to stick to Deep Autumn colors, I saw that light blue, even tones verging on periwinkle, was a color I really enjoyed having in my closet. It was versatile and always seemed fresh.
I loved this. About 5 years ago I decided to only buy clothes that could be described as being the colour of the sea. It's amazing how versatile that can be and it's now so liberating having a wardrobe where everything can be worn with everything
I have light blue eyes and fair skin so I find light blue really complements me. I love your suggestions and think light blue and pink would be fun to try in the spring
I do love blue in every shade. It is my colour. I feel so peaceful in it. My favourite combos are with black, grey, burgundy, white and dark blue. I Would love to try it with green. Thank you for the video, Audrey. See you soon.
Please do purple - lilac and mauve and lavender. Super trendy colors now and one of my favorites! I have been incorporating it into my wardrobe but would live your view on it also!
As always, so refreshing and inspiring! The blue+green blew my mind. During the whole video I was thinking “it would be great to have the same video on orange / tangerine” ... I was thrilled that you mentioned a video to come on this color! Since your 2021 trends’ video, I have been looking for ways to pair it. The grey outfit that you are wearing is stunning.
Hi Audrey! I was very surprised to see green with blue together. It actually look amazing..I'm diffently going to match some of my green pieces which I love with blue..Love!
The videos you’ve been doing on colour combinations have absolutely been inspirational. I’m looking at my closet very differently because of you; bringing colours and our clothes to life expressing them in the way you do is so fresh and unique. Love 💕 your thoughtful and kind approach in these times of anxiousness. Thank you 🙏
I love the combinations of light blue and pale yellow, purple and light blue, pink and light blue. When I wear these color combinations {especially in the winter}, I feel it brightens my day. It is never a dull day in the winter when I wear these color combinations.
This made me smile. While watching, I happened to be knitting a hat with a light blue yarn. I chose that color as I thought it would go well with my black coat and my dark green wool coat, as well. It's nice to have your confirming opinion!
Light blue paired with cream seems so obvious but I hadn't thought it that combo - thank you! I think that will help me wear my light blue sweater more often....
Being a true spring with light red hair, bright orange looks GREAT on me. I'm on the hunt for the right orange piece for my wardrobe, now that I've found a great saturated pink. All the color!
I love light blue with various shades of denim. The light blue button up is such a classic, along with tan or brown accents such as loafers, a leather purse and camel jacket.
It's so nice to watch a video about color combinations I haven't one like that before. You also mentioned bright orange which happens to look good on me, but my relatives don't like orange to wear. So thank you for appreciating the color, light blue also.
Hi Audrey! Thanks for another inspiring video! My favorite way to wear blue is with light pink, it reminds me of cherry blossoms against blue sky, such a dreamy combination, especially for spring! Another favorite is light blue with caramel or (pastel) yellow. II never considered wearing blue with green/khaki, that's a really cool idea!
Thank you for expanding my use of light blue! I was stuck pairing with summer white. I am now inspired to use a light blue tunic with many colors and fabrics in my wardrobe.
This video definitely made me want to wear blue! I would absolutely love to see a video on purple (lighter purples in particular). It's such a beautiful colour on so many people, and so spring!
light blue is a spring/summer stable in my wardrobe for years, I don't like to wear it in the colder month. It reminds me of the blue sky and makes me happy. light blue with white/cream/beige is a combo I love and wear for years but since last year I like to mix it with a soft mint green or a strong (not pastel) pink, too. Something fresh and new to me.
I love blue with whites and winter whites. Just seems so classic to me. Whether it’s light blue, a blue/gray or a Smokey blue, I am a real fan of blue on blue as well.
Some fave office and event outfits for me: Light blue soft blazer + white tee + navy pants; Light blue blazer + white and blue sheath dress; Periwinkle sweater + pink floral skirt
A couple of years ago, I shopped online for a secondhand trench coat and found a great one that happened to be light blue. It's great for the wintry days of February and early March because it's a refreshing change from dark winter wear and breathes new life into everything. My powder blue gossamer scarf is often paired with a black top and I've loved that combo - so glad you brought it up!
Love this series of videos, Audrey. Thank you so much. They are really inspiring and so helpful for being more thoughtful about how to style specific colours in my wardrobe. I have acquired some pale lilac pieces recently and am finding them quite tricky to style. It would be great to see what you would do with this colour.
I just love blue. I have it all throughout my house and some pieces in my wardrobe. Sadly, I hardly wear it, not sure why. thanks so much for including this color in the color combination series. I’ve learned through this series about burgundy and pink, and now dark green and blue as well as blue and camel. Great content.
My lifelong favorite color which I am finally embracing. I'm incorporating it into my home as well. My favorite is with green. Here in the NW we have beautiful summer days with dark green tall fir tree and blue sky.
I loved this video. Light blue Is one of my favourite colours. Your voice and your positive energy make me feel so calm, especially through the third lockdown in my country.
I was in London last week, having afternoon tea in a hotel and a woman walked in with camel coloured trousers, and she'd paired them with a pale blue shirt. It looked beautiful and simple and chic, and was a combination I've never considered before. I have the camel trousers, so now I just need the shirt! Also, what pleased me was that you showed a lot of dark haired women wearing pale blue. Here in the UK magazines etc nearly always show pale blue as a colour for blondes only, so I was inspired by the outfits you showed on dark-haired women.
I’m really enjoying this series, each video has been thoughtfully put together and I like the wide variety of images you use to illustrate the point (including diversity of bodies). I love blue, probably own a little too much of it! Since currently pregnant with my third child I’ve realized just how sadly limited maternity wear is. I don’t enjoy black and wear grey in a limited way, preferring tans and blues as my neutrals but it’s virtually impossible to feel truly dressed my best when pregnant 😞looking forward to my usual floral dresses already!
I love this video! I've recently embraced more shades of blue in both my wardrobe and home decorating, especially since moving to Charleston. I gone from all neutrals except navy, to choosing navy, black and white, with accents of sand and gray. Thank you for inspiring me!
I came to love light blue since 2019 but hadn't thought about pairing it with green or orange! Thank you. I always had gray, beige, and navy with light blue.
Was imagining that a cool light sea foam green might be a different color to pair with blue denim, perhaps with a dark camel colored belt. Have done so many of the classic color combinations that I am now trying to find different pairings.
I loved to see your approach on light blue as denim! I struggle to wear my jeans because I sometimes think I look too young or laid-back, but this video changed my mind! I know it might seem obvious that denim is blue, but it's easy to get lost when dress pants were all I've worn for many years. I'm looking forward to exploring that side of jeans!
This was really eyeopening. I love to wear light or midtoned blue with light grey plus navy (instead of black) belt, boots and bag. I always feel very calm and secure in that colour combination which makes so much sense to me now.
I'm always in love with your 'Colour guide' videos, I've learned so much from them. I love having colours in my wardrobe but before I only knew to match them with black or white, most of the time I would just wear all black because that's what everyone around me does. I'm much more comfortable with wearing colours now, still a lot of hit or miss, but I'm glad I've stepped out of my comfort zone and really embraced my love for colours
Like your colour pairing hints! I am not a light blue person as I am more of a green, brown, orange, what they used to call an Autumn. However, it is an option and nice to see that I can pair it with colours I have. Love your videos! I am shopping my closet and having a blast dredging up past gems and recombining them with newer styles! I have found lots of treasures I had forgotten!
Audrey I always like your video before watching it because I just KNOW I am going to like it. Beautifully presented as usual and such great ideas. Stellar work!
My colour palette is the same for every season: white, baby blue, navy, light grey, creme, beuge and turquise. Although I look really light and I lok a little bit strange in winter when I wear total white outfit or total baby blue but I stand out of the crowd in a good way, I think. People notice it but its not unpleasant. Cause everybody in my social group wears dark colours in winter, my looks are so refreshing
Audrey I think the burnt Orange almost rust color would look gorgeous on you. I’ve been loving this color and in winter purchase a slip skirt and sweater and yes I love it with light blue.
I love the examples of both fashion and interior color combinations. Please create more of this type, it's always good to have a place to find examples of different ways to put colors together🥰.
Thank you so much. I just bought a gorgeous light blue and white tweed jacket and this helps me to style it with other colours besides white and blue. Thank you.
I was here struggling with what to wear tomorrow and this video completely solved my problem. I have a sky blue duster, off white v neck sweater and black form fitting pants. 👏🏽👏🏽Game Changer!!! Thanks Audrey.
I love this so much. I have a cooler-toned light blue blazer I love, and I'm looking to add a light blue t-shirt as well. Really enjoy all the images you selected. And I LOVE your soothing voice.
Audrey light blue and red go fantastically great together! Its a very friendly and lively combination. I thought u'd mention that one! Im a fan of urs, love all of ur videos, tips and looks!!! Ur wonderful!!! Kisses from Argentina in South America.

For me, BLUE is the most abundant I see in nature. It is the color of the sea and sky. And, where I live, I see these everyday!

Wow! What a fashionable Grandma! 🥰
Your inclusion of interior and exteriors to illustrate the points you discuss is very useful.
I love that you instruct on true style in a meaningful and artful way. I dislike fast fashion and you are the absolute antidote. Thank you Audrey!
You've expressed it so beautifully 💙
I agree.
Can you do one for lilac/light violet? I feel like its becoming very popular and everyone is wearing it but I would want to look more classy and elegant and not so "trendy" 🥰
I was going to ask for the same - purple - my favorite color since I was a little girl......
Yes. I also love purple. I like a deeper blue-purple shade personally, but I also like pastels.
Yes! Purple for sure!
I was going to ask for lilac/purple. I'm glad I'm not alone with this one :)

I came to love light blue since 2019 but hadn't thought about pairing it with green or orange! Thank you. I always had gray, beige, and navy with light blue.
Light blue with yellow makes me think of sunflowers against a blue summer sky. Longing for summer up here in snowy Canada.
I'm a natural redhead (well, I used to be!) and I've always been able to wear black and pale blue together. I love it. Thanks for the video Audrey.
I often pair light blue with yellow / light yellow. I feel it creates a combination of sunshine and youth vibe, but also classic and elegant.
Was imagining that a cool light sea foam green might be a different color to pair with blue denim, perhaps with a dark camel colored belt. Have done so many of the classic color combinations that I am now trying to find different pairings.
