I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels like this ride is underrated. This ride is in my top 5 rides in the whole park alongside pirates, thunder mountain, haunted mansion, and space mountain.

There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow is one of the most iconic Disney Parks songs. That song still gets me excited whenever I ride. The ride really is a treasure and deserves more love. An absolute must every time I’m in the park

I absolutely love the carousel of progress! It has a wonderful message and the last reminder of Walt Disneys vision of tomorrow. I hope it lasts many lifetimes. I also noticed you used the Official Soundtrack to 1982s Epcot. Brilliant and heartwarming score.

I’ve only been to Epcot and animal kingdom and even though these are not the best rides, living with the land was so nice. It’s relaxing and you get to see how they grow plants and fruits and the fish, it’s all super cool to see and it’s surprising that it’s hidden there. I rode it at the end of my one day at Epcot and had the whole boat to myself having no clue what it was. I adored it! More of these absolutely.

This ride, and all the other holy trinity rides as you described them, are what make Disney for me. I could care less about the thrill rides and everything else, the parts of these parks that I LOVE have always been these rides and attractions. Seeing them slowly vanish over time breaks my heart, and I know I'm not the only one.
I know I don't even want to go back to EPCOT anymore because almost everything I loved about that park as a kid is gone now.
Also, Universal had some more educational shows back in the day! They had a WONDERFUL "Hitchcock: The Art of Movies" show, and the backlot tour used to be more educational, and I think there were some stunt shows that were more focused on how stunts are done. Universal USED to be a theme park about the magic of movie-making, but now just a collection of action and disaster rides where something goes wrong, and oh no! You have to escape! Except there's no actual fear or tension because you know the danger isn't real. So they have to add more physical thrills (drops, twists, roller coaster elements) to make things scary...
RIP Horizons, RIP World of Motion, RIP World of Energy, RIP The Living Seas...

When I go to Magic Kingdom, this is one of two rides I always go on (other being the People Mover). My only gripe is I wish they had kept the final scene in the 60s as I think it would be fun to see how they view the "Modern World" then (and ties into the rest of the scenes saying how it could not get any better than then...and then does) but I totally understand why they updated it to "today"
Regardless, I love this and always will and live in fear of them getting rid of it for some screen based attraction.

"Hey Walt, why don't we create an attraction celebrating man's capacity to move forward and go places previously only dreamt about?"

    THIS they call progress?

Shootouts to the scene in Jurassic Park where John Hammond literally copies this ride except instead of the animatronics, he makes the ride a tour of the genetics lab at Jurassic Park. Yet even this larger than life parody of Carousel of Progress is probably less impressive than the real thing.

Carousel of Progress is the best ride at Magic Kingdom, hands down. Sure you have really good rides like Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Pirates of the Caribbean, and It’s a Small World but they do not have the same charm and connection to Walt Disney that Carousel of Progress does. Also the 5 minute wait is a good thing because it allows for you walk on and experience this great attraction.

I always lived tye Carousel of Progress and the people mover as a kid. I haven't been to the Disney parks in a long time, but I think I would still love those rides.
Universal only has like 2 or 3 attractions that educate people, the Horror Make-Up Show and Animal actors. Then I'm not really sure about oh the stories you'll here. I do agree that Universal can probably add some rides that educate and inspire people.

(This turned out to be a novella so consider yourself warned.😅)
I have _never_ had a good day at a Universal Park no matter how many times I've gone to one. The last time I tried going again it was to Islands of Adventure to see the Harry Potter stuff after it first opened.
Not only did it cost like $250 for my mother and I to get IN to the park (in 2011!), we had to pay extra to park a _quarter of a mile away_ instead of a _half_ mile with no trams at all.
Once we got back to Wizarding World, the Hogwarts Express was completely covered in a white light diffusing box because they were filming a commercial so we couldn't see it at all, there was an hour+ line for the gift shop, an hour+ line for Olivander's, we found out all of the shop faces were just faces that you couldn't go into save for Honeyduke's/the joke shop which was packed so tightly shoulder to shoulder that I know it was definitely unsafe. The only good thing was the butterbeer even though it was overpriced as hell.
Everything around the rest of the park was starting to look ratty, the Dr. Seuss portion was completely bleached by the sun, peeling, and in _desperate_ need of a paint job, and most of it was closed (along with several other shops and food places around the rest of the park) because it was the "off season" even though admission was still full price.
Our day was topped off by an employee rudely telling the person in line ahead of us, _"If you want nice, go to Disney."_ They hadn't even done anything to deserve it, either. They asked a question about something they were trying to pay for and dared to mention the employee's attitude after they were needlessly barked at.
I know Universal has its fanboys, but I'll always prefer Disney. 🫤🤷‍♀️ To anybody who prefers Universal: have fun there. Sincerely. Have a blast. My experiences are not universal (pun absolutely _not_ intended!) and of course everybody's mileage is going to vary. I've just given up on them for myself. lol

if anything this ride belongs in EPCOT since the original Disneyland install had the EPCOT city model as it's post show the 2nd floor of the Disneyland Carousel Theater. the GE demanded Magic Kingdom one is a single floor and only a section of the model made it to the MK Peoplemover. it would fit as a 3rd attraction at Imagination pavilion.

The art of edutainment is lost within modern Disney. Even within their studio productions, little is left to the audience for artistic interpretation. It's just blatant socio-political propaganda for the company to earn ESG points. EPCOT deserves a proper overhaul. World Showcase should be a place where host countries share their cultures and folklore with guests, not just another delivery mechanism for Disney IP. Futureworld or "Worlds Celebration, Discovery and Nature" should return to its original premise of edutainment in the physical and natural sciences and their connection to humanity through communication, imagination and innovation. Does EPCOT need to be a "kiddy park?" What's wrong with looking for Nemo (the clownfish) in the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios? What's wrong with appreciating the worlds oceans for their own natural beauty and wonder? If narrative is necessary to attract an audience, why does it necessarily have to be common Disney and Pixar IP? Why can't guests learn and be entertained by the various world narratives about the sea from Neptune to Captain Nemo and his Nautilus to Moby Dick to Polynesian, Viking and Spanish exploration to a futuristic Sea Base Alpha? An entire backstory to the front half of EPCOT would be built around the timeless "Society of Explorers and Adventurers." Sea Base Alpha could easily be a present day research base of SEA. The base commander would be a descendant of Mary Oceaneer (of Disney Cruise Line's Oceaneer Labs and Typhoon Lagoon's Miss Adventure Falls). The Land Pavilion can host a number of SEA members involved in botany, ecology and agriculture. Even Mission: Space can involve SEA members exploring and adventuring beyond our own planet. But, most importantly, Horizons needs to return to EPCOT. Horizons is what connects the various pavilions in the front half of the park. It's also the second volume of stories presented in Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. It was EPCOT's underappreciated masterpiece. There could even be a SEA member from each country represented in World Showcase. Perhaps the Italian member could be a descendant of Marco Polo himself. And I'm sure the member from France is a relative of Samuel de Champlain. Heck, even Canada's David Thompson is no mere fur trader of the Hudson's Bay Company, he too was a SEA member that explored and surveyed western Canada (Rupert's Land), discovering the Columbia River, creating a new trade route connection between the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. There are so many stories that could be told, rather than rehashing existing Disney IP to sell merchandise. Stories rooted in folklore, history and science that could better reflect a nation's culture and heritage than a rat longing to cook in a Parisian restaurant. (And concerning Nemo the clownfish in Disneyland's Tomorrowland. He deserves the boot over there, too. The Submarine Voyage should be a futuristic Submarine Mission of the SEA perhaps involving a mission to Sea Base Delta on the floor of the Arctic Ocean which gets interrupted by a giant squid attack resulting in a need to return to Tomorrowland Dock for repairs.)

This was always my favorite I’ve gone every year since I was little with my entire family and this was our go to ride that we could all go on at any age or any disabilities anyone can go in. 🩷🩷 I’m so happy to hears it’s there still I thought I heard it closed down ❤ sadly I have not been there in 5 or 6 years and and so much has changed and the crowds are so much bigger and different now. I’d love to go back to my childhood and have things the way they were those were the days ❤
