The Carousel of Progress still is one of the best memories of My child hood . As now an Adult I love it just as much as I did then . Love 💝💝😘 Robert in Philadelphia
I first saw this version of the Carousel of progress ride in 1988 on my first trip to the magic kingdom at walt Disney world and it was awesome for an 11 year old.
90s Walt Disney was awesome I still hold it close to my heart after the 90s some improvements they made are ok and even good but it doesn't come close to what we all grew up with
I went on this in 1988 and it went 101 on the 'turn of the century' scene. The show scene looped at least three times before the carousel began rotating again.
Missouri Spartan the reason the song was different was because the sponsor, GE, didn’t want guests to wait til the future to buy their products, they wanted them to buy their stuff today. So they asked the Sherman brothers to write a song reflecting that. They didn’t like it, as the original was made for Walt and meant a lot to them, but they had no choice but to do it
Failed when the Carousel of progress open in 1964 there a great big Beautiful tommrow when it went over to magic kingdom now is the time now is the time Played from 1975-1993 and the they bought there a great big Beautiful tommrow back from 1993-2021
Andrew Duggan, character actor who starred in the western series "Lancer" and appeared in movies like "In Like Flint" (as the President) does the voice of John. In Act IV, Grandpa's voice is James Gregory (Inspector Luger from "Barney Miller").
I used to love this ride - because there was a modest chance it would get jammed or malfunction - resulting in an impressive shudder and jolt on the mechanism.
I went to this ride a couple of days ago and it did malfunction so we heard the first part twice and the same one as well, then theyd just shut it down for that day 😂
in this version the theater moves before the song starts, but in the current version the theater moves at the same time the song starts, I think that's cause in the year 1992 making the theater move at the same the song starts was not a thing.
Only now noticed the dog has multiple names in this version 'Buster, Sport, and Queenie.' The current version being 'Rover.' Everyone talks about the second sister but what about the multiple dogs?!
While this version is harmless (enough), it sure is lifeless! It just seems like they're going through the motions instead of showing genuine emotion like in the current version.
Idk how everyone is like, " its so good!" Yet im over here like gurl i could never ride this, animtronics scare the crap out of me j could never i would cry.
Yeah, its not the original attraction to be sure, but unfortunately you can only get what you can get with the technology of the time. Thanks for the "ride".

This was my carousel. To young me Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow was the horizons song. Love this.
Yes!
I love Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress! Especially in 1992! I wish I could've gone to Walt Disney World in 1992.
I was there in 1987, 1989 and 1990. I loved this attraction too and look no one is glued to their smartphones. I miss those days.

Kinda same in Jan 2017, looped 4 times in scene 2 because some idiot tried to leave and triggered exit.
@@jerseyforhawks I Was There When That Happened
I didn't know this attraction had a song different from Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow! Interesting.

The people that made the props wanted more money
Yeah, General Electric (the sponsor) wanted guests to buy their products NOW! Not TOMORROW!
Thank you for uploading this. :)
Two years later, a new show and the original song take ovsr.

its a shame we can't get a view of the sides

Like the old New Years Eve scene. "Avec Jambone" line. Didn't really need the side bars. I remember them in my mind. Thank you.

Yay we finally have all of John's movements for this version since the camera never turns to the turntables!!
Turn back, turn back. 1:33 I wish this version was revived.

fathers voice was improved a lot. here he sounds straight up mean
I've never seen this version and it's funny that John says GE's former slogan( bring good things to life) in the final scene.
Only now noticed the dog has multiple names in this version 'Buster, Sport, and Queenie.' The current version being 'Rover.' Everyone talks about the second sister but what about the multiple dogs?!
Wow this is the first video I see of the show filmed on a tripod!

Can't forget the New Year's Eve spectacular omelet superb ethnic jump boom. Never forget.

I love carousel of progress I always go there in Disney

There is no turning back
Bit of modern history ☺️
And there are changes to the script compared to the 2000's
The Magic of Disney Animation - January 10th, 1991 (5000 Subscribers Special)
I think it was a little delayed. At 17:47 you started rotating before they started singing. Also the rotation is loud
this version started rotating before the song for some reason
Boy_of_the_Cones okay
that's probably the fireworks in that scene that are loud 🤪
@@boy_of_the_cones the song might be a few seconds short.
@@The_Original_Alex_Channel the nitt version was shorter as a whole, but it did always rotate before the singing began
Was this in Florida or California?
Florida, California had America Sings by 1974.

I do like that song
Do the side stages look different in 1992?
Yes
I like this song better than the one they use now for this attraction.
Where is this at??
Magic Kingdom
Mars?
Bring back Best time of your life song...
@Greg agreed!
It's a good song but it's not very fitting for the attraction.
@@rroobnz I agree. The change was appropriate.
