Carousel of Progress WDW - Martins Ultimate Tribute
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 жов 2015
- Finally. Another HD edit I've always wanted to do. Start with how and why Orlando got the attraction, where it might have gone and why it went where it did. Following a look at how it fitted into Tomorrowland phase two, experience the original 1975 version in multi angle video from a combination of 1980s and early 90s footage, a remade 1975 act IV with source 1985 and clean live 1975 audio.
Next see the changes made through the 80s and early 90s, then look at the major changes made in 1993.
And then, walk into 2015 Tomorrowland for a full look around the attraction in HD. Watch a reconstructed source quality full preshow video, then board the carousel for the full attraction, shot from multiple angles in full HD with a new stereo source quality audio mix.
Shot without a recording ban. 67 minutes long. - Розваги
Never remove this attraction disney! It should serve as a historical landmark that gets updated once every few decades.
it does. but once you realized how much packaged propaganda is in it you may not like it as much... but it's so much better than the original version with tons of misogyny included
This aged terrifically! The final show scene is updated
here's hoping they don't remove it
All that progress and not a single word explaining how their house is TOTALLY FRIGGIN' HAUNTED!
It’s a great big beautiful tomorrow,
Shining at the end of every day!
It’s a great big beautiful tomorrow,
Just a dream away!!!!
Great tribute to the greatest ride ever created!
There's not It's.
And a great tribute to the man himself. Walt Disney! His hands were on the original for the 1964 worlds fair!
Walt would be so proud of you, Martin.
I just wished Other Disney parks would get the rides and I hhope Disney revamps the last scenes again cause we have vr they should keep all the animatraniv but have a machine that makes the food and the machine runs out of controll and the thing blows up smoke gos everywhere and then they say agh jeus see what you did well lets get cleaning but lets chear up real quick then goes to the song
Of course.
Bro wait dead
I think seeing Carousel of Progress in 70's and hearing Now is the Time is the earliest memory I have of Walt Disney World. We sang that song for years after coming home. Nostalgia can be a very fun thing
This may be stupid, but I loved being able to sit in the first row and be right in front of animatronic dog and it seemed so real.
Same here!
His name is Rover
My favorite attraction! This is such a great tribute and I'm so happy it's here just in case the days are numbered for father and mother. Beautifully done!
This amazing tribute captured me within the first 15 seconds after hearing both "Now is the Time" and "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" together. Excellent work, Martin!
I was always wondering how the scenes looked in the past...now I know! Thank you for putting this together...fantastic !!
Another outstanding video, I wish I had discovered Martins footage years ago, The design and engineering of the property is unbelievable,as a retired construction electrician These videos just blow my mind!Thank You so much Martin for all your hard work producing this footage!!!
This was my favorite ride at the NY world's fair... The next time I rode it was in '77 in WDW, great memories for a great ride.
Which one do you think is better though?
Of all the attractions I and the family saw at Disney World, a good many, many years ago, this one is my favorite. I guess, because there is no attraction that connects more closely to Mr. Walt Disney himself, and his futurism, than this one, and the show particulars that are in this version. It was the brainchild of Mr Disney himself, and that makes it very special. I still sing or whistle this song often today. Thank-you for this video. By far, this is the best one I have seen on this wonderful attraction! Bar none! I sure wish more folks were seeing it. It is a shame so many are missing this!
I love all of the construction photos and schematics! So cool!
Spectacular! Great job Martin!!
I got to see the Original GE Progressland at the 1964 World's Fair as a 7 year old. Carousel of Progress is still one of my most favorite attractions at WDW; it brings back those memories. My daughter and I take a photo every trip in front of the Carousel of Progress sign.
After almost 50 years since this came to disney world, there is still a great big beautiful tomorrow.
Excellent! I'm from the "Now is the Best Time" era and had some difficulty with the transition to "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow", but after watching your tribute, I can appreciate the difference a bit better. Thank you!
Only found out today (via youtube) that the song has changed. Visited Epcot once, in '87 so "The Best Time of Your Life" (often mistakenly "Now Is the Time", the first lyric) is what I remember.
"Written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman in 1974 as a new theme song for Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. The attraction was being moved from Disneyland to Walt Disney World, and a replacement was sought for the original song, "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" (also by the Sherman Brothers)."
@@adlad75 The latest audio track for the People Mover gives a nod to "The Best Time of Your Life" as your car approaches the loading area at the end of the ride.
this ride is truly a gift to the world and a reminder of how good we have it and remember others in the past had it way harder then we do now
Absolute favorite ride at the Magic Kingdom. Still don't know exactly why. But for some reason, since my first visit, it has stuck with me. First thing I go on every time I visit.
Tim Alcoser It just has that Walt charm thats how I think of it
Carosel of progress is a show not a ride
What do you mean, this show is lame as fuck lol. Walt wasted all of his time on it.
It's amazing how they touched on smart houses and smart technology during the mid-1990s. However, I think it's time for another update.
I just experienced “Carousel Of Progress” last week. It was awesome!
Another great documentary. Always liked the music and lively, colorful orchestrations.
Thank you so much for this, this is the best filming of the ride I have ever seen.
Thank you Martin. COP is one of my favorite attractions. Since I've only seen the 1993/current version, I am happy to prior versions of the show via your videos.
Always a must do every time at the Magic Kingdom. Even though the future can need an update.
Always a walk on. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Sometimes it’s good as a time-killer and a place to cool down
this is a nice thing to go on if you want to get out of the heat for a while...nice and air conditioned.
I do miss this attraction. I say that because it was one of my favorites when it was at Disneyland. Since it was moved to WDW, I've seen it once in 1981. When they pulled America Sings I always hoped they would duplicate the Carousel so it would return to DL. Not a chance, the original CoP building has been the home for Innovations, M&Gs and now it will be a Star Wars preview area until the new Star Wars land is built. This a nice tribute video, it brought back a lot of good memories.
+Mark Raymond was the song "now is the time" in Disneyland?
+jacksonsuniverse No, Disneyland only had the "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow"
Mark Raymond good :D
+jacksonsuniverse The first time I heard "Now is the Time" is when I saw the CoP at WDW in 81. My first thought was WTF? I'm glad they went back to the original song. I do miss the original Christmas scene from Disneyland but it was dated by the time the CoP left Disneyland.
Nostalgia 🥺🥺🥺
Best evolution video ever
Thank you so much for creating such a great film of my favorite attraction!
This has always been one of my favorite attractions. What a clever way to tell a story. Thank you, Martin, I really enjoy the work that you do.
The best tributes online! Great job.
One of your best ones yet! As always it's really a perfect, all encompassing history and documentation. Thank you.
Excellent production, Martin!
WOW! Your videos are amazing. I love learning about the history of these rides and you really capture the spirit of them all! I especially loved your World of Motion since I had a very hard time remembering what it was like! Thanks for doing these!!!
Wonderful video, many thanks for this!
you are.... so studly!
I get why the Sherman Brothers and various Disney execs like the "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" version, but "Now Is The TIme" was the COP from my childhood and I'm a little sad that when I take my littles to WDW it won't be the same. Awesome job, Martin, per usual!
Ah man, wish I could place the change in voice actors between the original WDW version and the World's Fair and eventual '93 update versions, great to see this vid pop up.
Great video. great editing. only thing missing is a narrator. much better than having to read captions imho.
I agree, captions are hard for us slow readers! 😢
Great tribute once again Martin!
Well done, once again!
Dude you have the most complete and interesting Disney attraction fact videos I've ever seen, I don't even know where you get half the rare photos and videos and ride plan diagrams and I appreciate every second of them! The wiki is so lacking in the history of these rides!! :D Which is a crime because it's so interesting!
i like how this attraction's two theme songs are the same length and tempo
This will always be one of my favorite Disney attractions. One of my must see's every time I go to Disneyworld. The last scene is really dated now. I'd like it if they would expand CoP and do 00's, 20's, 40's, 60's, 80's and into 2000. Then expand Tomorrowland to include the Horizons Attraction from EPCOT. You could have progress through the 20th century and into the future.
You lost me at Horizons. That would be amazing, but highly unlikely.
Why Horizons that's more of epcot then tommorowland
@@jaydenchrist6152 Horizons was a continuation of CoP.
Well, since I grew up with the original, it's hard for me to like this one. And I so miss the voice of Rex Allen, as he was the voice of Disney since the 60's. But fortunately, thank God there is an CD with the original music still intact.
Rex Allen, in point of fact, was only the voice of Father on the World's Fair and Disneyland version. The WDW Father voice in the "Now Is The Time" period was Andrew Duggan.

So good! Thank you!
You can actually hear the original carousel theme in the audio loop in tomorrowland it's just a futuristic techno version
both songs are in the tomorrowland loop
Thanks! I always wondered what the original ending to Carousel of Progress was or at least earlier versions. I didn't see it until 2002 when I finally got to Disney World.
Thank you for this relly good tribute to the Carousel of Progress. I have been wating for you to do a tribute of this show from 1975-2015 there were somethings that I never knew about this show and now I know that now because I watching this video from you today. I can't wait to see the Wedway people mover 1975-2015 video from you and the timekeeper tribute video coming soon from you. Thank you again for this tribute video I hope that you keep the Disney tribute videos coming. PS this is chrisps from mousebits I made a UA-cam account and added to my list of videos on my UA-cam account page.
Walt would be so proud of you, Martin too!
this is one of my favorite rides in all of Disney world
Terrific! Carousel of Progress is one of my favorites!
"Rover, don't interrupt whole Sarah's interrupting."
I just love that line. 😂
Love it, love it, love it! Perfect 👌
Great job as always MartinsVidsDotNet
I love your videos thanks for the many hours of entertainment
Excellent work, one of my favourite attractions. I brought my wife on her first trip recently and she suggested we go on CoP a second time! So, she’s a keeper.
Thanks I really enjoyed seeing that again. Seems like might be time for an update again of that attraction due to current day.
Great video documentary with the performances of the old (Best time of your life) and new (Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow) Carousel of Progress.
Love it!!!!
Starts in 13 minutes .So
Nostalgic
for the old Disney!
Walt would never have allowed entry prices to soar to $100.00 a person. He wanted his place to be affordable for everyone. He must be turning over in his grave.
Agreed! He would also NEVER have allowed food and store prices to be high either.
+Chant124 how right you are.... If you're lucky that $100 gets you on 4 rides and lots of waiting in long lines, even fast pass is slow, as everyone uses it. It's becoming almost a diminished return.
+Amber Shores Not to be sounding rude, but I don't think you know how to go through Disney World properly if you can only get on 4 rides. Sure, there are some lines that are 2 hours long, but you just have to plan out your day. I can get on 5 rides before 10 am.
Reb you are most likely correct. I've been going to WDW since the 70s twice a year. The crowds are definitely larger each year, except for the times around 9/11 and 2008. When my kids were young we would also hit 4 rides before 10am and run all over the parks to a planned schedule, but I didn't think that was a pleasant way to spend my vacation on a tread mill. Now I go once a year to the EPCOT WnF, haven't missed one yet. The crowds are still larger every year., but since I've seen just about everything I just take my time going on what's new and joying the WnF around the World Showcase. Have fun and enjoy the parks!
$100.00 today was around $40.00 back in 1982, when EPCOT opening. That is taking inflation into account.
I love how since the grandpa is Rex Allen his singing part sounds like the original song!
Probably used the original recording.
the Entrance has gotten a NEW Paint Job this year.
And new signage!
yea! I like it
55:13 that’s what they call progress dear
Awesome!
Thank you for making this. Awesome editing skills sir. Should have 4 million subscribers, not 4 thousand subscribers.
Hello my friend! your video was very interesting.I like it 👍
Quite a Tribute!
It's interesting to see how Carousal of Progress has changed... lot's of comments on gender in the version that first came and in current times not as much. Also, I am curious as to why in a lot of the scenes from the current version, the characters are dressed up in costumes instead of period-specific clothes.
Probably to go with the theme change so they could have a different major holiday for every scene, hence going through a "year" while jumping between decades to give it a more definite sense of flow than "well it's fall now I guess and stuff"
This is one of my favs in Magic Kingdom.
Well done. I still cook chili for New Year's.
Fantastic Video. It must of took you ages to edit it. I never knew there was a different sound track when it first launched in Orlando.
I am only 4 minutes in, and I am freaking out about those great People Mover shots that are in frame with the DL version of CoP. I don't know where you get all this great footage. There is no rail on the pure white people mover track, which is great. Too much to take in. Thank you!
Wow Carosel of Progress is a Greta attraction a good classic ride
I like how WDW has gone back to the original 1975 logo now and dropped that stupid other logo.
i liked this sign better then the other one. Gives the logo theming
The radio background music at 54:17 is so catchy! It's driving me insane not knowing what it is
If they ever made a movie out of this, I could see Tom Hanks playing the dad
The original WDW CoP narrator sounds EXACTLY like Kevin Spacey.
My absolute FAVORITE attraction at Disney World
I was at this attraction in 1988. Omg.
I've only been once, in 1987... Need to go back! 🙂
They should build it again at Disney Land. That’s what tomorrow land needs.
Does anyone else notice that the length of the daughter’s hair keeps changing in the 1970s final scene?
The VR headsets are finally relevant. LaserDisc and HDTV, were they living in Japan?
The future of the ‘90’s, ladies and gentlemen.
Martin, can I ask you a bit of Disney trivia around the Carousel of
Progress (COP) that has remained unanswered in my family for years?
According to your video, the 'Best time of your life' was played in WDW
COP from 75-96, until 'GBBT' was put back in the show. Here's my
question - as someone who went to Disney World as a kid (born in the
70's) , I always recall associating 'GBBT' with the COP attraction.
However, I would have never heard that song on the ride until '96 when I
was much older. Where else at WDW would I (and my siblings) have heard
'GGBT' if not at the COP? I've never been to Disneyland, and have no
idea how I would have even known the words to 'Great Big Beautiful
Tomorrow' as a kid. Strange question I know, and maybe it will just
always be a Disney mystery...
The change from "Best Time Of Your Life" came with the overhaul in 1994, not 1996. "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" could be heard in one scene of the EPCOT "Horizons" ride during the part looking back on future visions from the 1940s early in the ride. That ride was also sponsored by GE and debuted in 1983 so your impression likely comes from that ride. But if you saw Carousel of Progress in the 80s, you heard "Best Time Of Your Life."
Thanks for the reply epaddon. That has bugged me for years...I appreciate the detailed explanation and it makes sense that is likely where I became familiar with the Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow song. Now I'm off to go watch a ride through from the Horizons ride!
Nice editing and great video! So out of curiosity, how long does it take you to put a video like this together?
wheelie90 on and off (in my spare time) a few weeks to a month or two.
Is it possible to see the rotation behind the fake round walls?
The desperately need to update the final scene of this show. Car phone? The clothes, etc.
+Marlon M I think currently it's represents the whole of the 1900s from beginning to the late 90s. I don't think the final scene can go any later or there will be a major gap in time.
Even the grandfather mentions Laserdiscs. Very Dated.
The Land Before Time Nerd Perhaps revise the Carousel of progress to be a compilation of all the last act scene revisions. Someone else suggested scrapping the 1900s, 1920s, and 1940s scenes. And the original 1990s scene was supposed to be a vision of what they thought the 21st century would look like. But now we’re in the 21st century.
or they could add the 60's scene from the end of the disneyland version and add another scene
At 58:51 When John sings I Love the beat to that line
Also..who is that little girl supposed to be helping with the wash in the first scene????
Her Mother :-)
@@dianefoulkes7242 Not Sarah, the girl pulling the lever back and forth.
49:36 My favorite part of the show
How'd you get the source preshow video?
Nevermind
Lmao, okay mother, just get those wrinkles out of my shirt!!!
lol
“Papa...all these people...I’m...I’m...indecent”
“Don’t worry Patricia, they’re friends”
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow,
Shining at the end of every day.
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow,
And tomorrow's just a dream away.
Man has a dream and that's the start,
He follows his dream with mind and heart.
And when it becomes a reality,
It's a dream come true for you and me.
So there's a great big beautiful tomorrow,

hey.
Where is the cat in the 3rd scene! I cannot find it!! And cast members have told me that there's one in every scene and I can't find it in the halloween scene!
isn't it under the table watching jimmy carve the pumpkin? or am i imagining that?
The cat in the third scene is at 56:48 on a Halloween party card.
Yeah I figured out finally that that's the cat they meant. I thought they meant their physical pet cat@@kuluke2002
How did you get the pre show video?
It's not the real one. Cow Missing posted the real one, but it was taken down.
I always liked the Now is the Time song better than a great big beautiful tomorrow.
Somebody also did a recreation of the 1967 Disneyland version mostly of old photos and a few clips from the Disney Channel. 😊
The best ever attraction
And the son went from 70s plaid to 80s workout pants.
lol

I miss the Carousel of Progress ever since they removed it from Disneyland. They replaced it with America Sings, which was pretty good, but that was replaced in 1988 by some lame attraction called Innoventions, and later Star Wars Launch Bay. Bring back CoP, Disneyland!
