It's a way of doing things that can lead you places you didn't know you could go.
I could barely afford a shitbox a few years back, but wrenching on them to keep them going lead to the right people seeing my work-ethic, technical understanding and ability to learn. Helped me land a job where I make enough to have a decent car, and the skills to take care of it.
I've already saved loads on doing all the maintenance myself, so I can afford to do more preventative maintenance and get some upgrades instead of getting gouged by mechanics :P
I bet the "ghost" behavior is leading up to a... "We're moving into a new shop!" anouncement.

It's an ongoing gag, you can see the wire/string connected near the bottom of it when it was pulled from off cam. It was obviously pulled, do you think it was a coincidence the camera was perfectly positioned to see it?

I would love to see a full engine rebuild episode. I know that it is a lot of hard and specialized work but it would still be pretty cool.
Yes! And it would be worth it. No need to build the engine, just find a healthy one and swap it in. This combination works. Like mine.
It would fit, but you'd have to notch the frame to fit the trans that goes with the 2ZZ. It's also a lot more work than installing the 2ZR. I thought about it before I did the research and discovered that the 2ZR is more than capable of handling 8 - 10 psi boost.

Oil starvation from that shallow oil pan, is where I'd place my "All In" bet. Make it deeper, with the sump to match. Add in some baffles to help prevent excessive sloshing during the G's.
Known problem on the 2AZ-FE, as well as the 1GR-FE which came in the X-Runner street truck. Uncle Rodney was always waiting, like and uninvited guest.
Could also try and go full on dry sump to prevent oil starvation issues
@@CarGuyz16 . Of course. Another option. All comes down to cost bias.
2AZ's also naturally burn oil. Had my tC blow on me during a road trip. Oil pan had zilch in it. I checked it before I left and it was fine. 800 mile road trip at about 80mph average and oil's gone.

Yes america gets folding ryobi lights. I have 2 in my garage and they are the best light I've ever used for car work.

YES! I'd love to know the real cause of the failure, because a healthy 2ZR should have handled the 200whp they put down. And what's with no gauges? No AFR, oil pressure, boost IAT EGT? Mine works great and isn't babied.

You have to know the difference between rod knock and simple, innocuous piston slap. One goes away completely after a short warm up, and doesn't get worse, the other means you didn't check your damn oil.

Where are you taught that this differentiation happens? South (of Panama) makes sense. So, is Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, el Salvador, etc. all part of the North?

@@CheckeredPony Most likely hydraulic lifters in case of your car if you were driving it for quite some time like that. Bearing failures get worse quickly and end up in a catastrophic engine failure in under like 100 kms later...

Yes, save her. All she needs is a healthy 2ZR engine and some gauges to know what's going on. I've had no problems with mine, same engine, similar turbo.

i've heard that in dragrace if the engine blows just after finish it means it was max out perfectly and the team is happy about it. so Yaris hilton was maxed to get that sub 1:00 mark.
spool conrods, hypereutectic pistons, tri metal bearings... rebuild it, don't throw in a new wrecker engine... or get a new wrecker engine and build that one
New engine, less boost and more fuel. Will still be fun.

Why on earth do you want to put hypereutectic pistons on forged rods? They are like glass with boost lol :D
You realise most engines come with +12% silicone pistons right? Modern day cast pistons work quite well under boost, provide daily drivin reliably without excess bore wear caused by piston slap which forged items do.

Yes, we do (i did) get Ryobi bendi-lights in the States.....And because I saw how frickin' cool they were on your show, " Mighty Car Mods", I went and bought a Ryobi bendi-light....And then proceeded to buy a whole bunch of Ryobi tools, batteries, chargers, and many awesome Ryobi accessories.......All because I saw how reliable and useful all those Ryobi tools were on Mighty Car Mods on UA-cam...........Honestly though, I love them all, and thanks............and your welcome...........many love, much props
