The Shifter Pure Form is easily my favorite Flood form. The three forms that it can take on and swap between on the fly make it an enemy that makes the player switch up their own tactics to match. Keeps players on their toes, like the Flood should being such an atypical force to face in combat.

The Infection form is a bit iffy when it comes to infecting before the spinal tap. Halo:The Flood, chief had an infection form dig its tendrils under his skin but not his spine. Chief ended up fine.
Wonderful overview of the most scary sci-fi infection! Though I do have one question, if the Primordial's consciousness is perpetual, and Graveminds can coordinate at a seemingly unlimited range, why is there still feral stage outbreaks? Once flood forms come out of stasis, shouldn't they instantly connect to the nearest Gravemind? Unless that's the catch and there has to be an active Gravemind nearby, and the one on 05 was only reactived after the breach of containment on Alpha Halo.
Think of the gravemind as a wifi tower with limited range. The primordial is in the internet somewhere and needs a gravemind signal to take control of the flood forms in it's range.
This is exactly why the Elite Commander says in Halo 3, right after the Flood outbreak on Earth is contained, “One single Flood spore can destroy a species. Were it not for the Arbiter’s council, I WOULD’VE GLASSED YOUR ENTIRE PLANET!!” 😱😅
I always enjoy hearing about The Flood, regardless of whether or not I’ve heard some of it before, 9 times out of 10, I do learn something new. We need a horror game set in the Halo universe with flood or another game with them in it that's new and not a rehash or something or a cash grab game 🤤
The Primordial is/was by no means the last Precursor. There are even still some in the Milky Way (they just don't DO much), and they most certainly were not limited to the 2 or 3 galaxies the Forerunners hunted them in. For every Precursor the Forerunners killed in the Milky Way, 30 more were just chilling on some random planet the galaxy over. Maybe alone, maybe taking the form of a primitive hunter gatherer, or maybe in an alien casino. The Precursors are perhaps one of the most ridiculously OP species in all of sci-fi. Perhaps THE most OP. The Forerunners had no means of actually wiping them out, and they got as far as they did because they got lucky with shooting the ship down on a dead planet. If that hadn't happened, all of them would have showed back up instead of having their minds get lost in the Domain. Even THAT might not have actually killed them. The Domain is a sentient mega library. It contains ALL of the information the Precursors had. Which includes everything from your memories to the cure for The Flood to the recipe for the perfect cake. Kind of a "monkey on keyboards" thing. So getting lost in there could take billions of years to get out if they had the capacity to.
I perfectly understand the keymind retcon, "traveling" is too iconic a name to not refer to the character of the traveling in all possible incarnations
Despite how we can tear at each other online, the story binds us as one. An army adorned in a single suit of armor, and in the end, many corpses in one grave. I’m proud to have gone through the journey this far with all of you, through the best and worst of experiences. We are the Master Chief, and so we embody all that he represents. More than anything, we are lucky. Lucky that we persist strong and pure while devs fall to Flood-levels of corruption. Never forget that Covenant that binds us here, as a community, together. If I had to pick a favorite form of the flood, it has to be the Gravemind from Halo 2. That was my true understanding of how terrifyingly dangerous the flood were when I first saw it. In Halo 1 i thought they were a scary zombie-esc fungus species that were scary to fight thanks to their swarming capabilities. But Halo 2 truly showed me how small minded I was when I met that giant.....mound of whatever kind of mass it is. Its words were spoken in a way that I could not help but listen, fear and respect. And it is the reason why I love when villainous characters speak like that when other characters have more modern speech patterns.
The Flood could be seen as a metaphor for black holes-universal forces of entropy and unification. As black holes represent one of the ultimate endpoints of cosmic evolution in real physics, the Flood consumes and assimilates all life, unifying everything into one collective.
I like the Jackal Carrier variant from SPV3, know it's not cannon but it's still quite cool, if you've never seen it, it crawls on all fours and lunges at it's prey and then explodes from there.

It's insane how beautiful the original trilogy makes you think its a regular humanity vs aliens thing only to throttle the story into a much larger cosmic scale that the entire namesake of the series is based on the weapons to be used against the flood
The blightstalker reminds me of those beasts we find and fight with Juun on Reach. Perhaps the flood takes inspiration from their body structure, taken from an ancient sister species not local to Reach. That or the primordial remembers that he made those things with his pals a few million years back and reused the design for their consumption
Something I've realized about the flood tadpole is that it's the flying infection form Origins Part 1. Either this is some sort of retcon and the flood tadpole is a separate form that can both fly and swim or they just reused the design.
So in the book The Flood an infection form pierced chiefs suit and skin (if I remember right) before Cortana saved him by overloading his shields. But shouldn’t the infection forms tentacles piercing his skin been enough to transfer some supercells into Chief if the flood can infect just by scratching?
I wish flood spores existed. Not only would I make a ton of money off of Raytheons brand new bioweapons division but it would create an introvert paradise when released
@@4realm8rusirius correct, but do they actually look different? Or do they look the same. I'm just wondering if there is any way to tell them apart visually?

Why don’t we just all work together and coordinate an entire halo project made by the entire halo community and make it all about the flood. I want to experience true horror! Imagine a halo experience playing as an elite and a human soldier. Two main stories with a set of classic style halo missions with clever new game mechanics and twists where we play as a first a human where it’s a covenant invasion where we are invading a covenant corvette as a human and then something passes by us in space where it is a piece of the original halo ring that was left mostly intact and even still holding its lands and chunk intact but is smashed into the ship causing the switch to play as an elite on the ship having to deal with the threat leading to you invading the connected halo ring chunk to leave a bomb that would destroy it and the ship along with the fast spreading parasite. Idk just an idea but I truly think the community is capable of us all working together on a halo project
The very first time I encountered infected Elites back when I first played Halo, I never realized that the slumped-over neck was just that. My 15-year-old brain registered the neck and head as just the thing's head, as if it was still facing forward but had no facial features. That's 2001 XBOX graphics for you.
I believe the smaller infection forms are literally rats or fish where you said the super cell in the form of gas will mix into the cracks and makes alot of sense
If they ever add the Flood to Infinite, it would be the perfect spot to properly give us the Juggernaut. Like the size of Infinite Map would allow it to be effective to its best cuz of its size.

So in the book The Flood an infection form pierced chiefs suit and skin (if I remember right) before Cortana saved him by overloading his shields. But shouldn’t the infection forms tentacles piercing his skin been enough to transfer some supercells into Chief if the flood can infect just by scratching?
The Flood is just what happens when not enough people have clapped for Jeb Bush.
I wish flood spores existed. Not only would I make a ton of money off of Raytheons brand new bioweapons division but it would create an introvert paradise when released
Slap unysheck
16:09 so I know the shifter can change into a stalker, but is there any physical difference between them? They look the exact same to me.
The stalker form is merely a morph of the shifter.
@@4realm8rusirius correct, but do they actually look different? Or do they look the same. I'm just wondering if there is any way to tell them apart visually?
@@chipsdubbo5.56 They do have a "default" form? No, there is no lore on them for that. They probably come out as one of three morphs.Unless 343 changes it.
@@4realm8rusirius thank you
Flood has always been my favorite thing about halo
Babe wake up new video just dropped
29:05 that's incorrect they did not use that to open a portal to the ark they used a separate portal entrance that was made on Mars
Ik this doesn't have anything to do with this episode but in halo 2 McCain u can jump on the back of hunters and punch or put a grenade on them I found this out yesterday and it was sick😁😁
Luke's Declassified Flood Survival Guide. Saturdays at 8pm EST / 7pm CT. Only on Waypoint!
1st stage, spicy cells. Last stage infinitely intelligent Lovecraftian horror
My favorite way that I have described the Flood to newcomers is as "The Godplague" or "The disease that makes corpses scream in terror".
Man, love a good Flood video
Always love a good halo video 😊
How come no matter how many different UA-camrs make a video on the same topic I have to watch every one?
2030, the Flood explained and milked by hiddenxperia for the 343rd time.
35 minutes of the most dangerous and intelligent beings in the Halo universe? Sign me up!
Basically every brute in that halo wars 2 cutscene should have been infected...
If they ever add the Flood to Infinite, it would be the perfect spot to properly give us the Juggernaut. Like the size of Infinite Map would allow it to be effective to its best cuz of its size.
28:30 Lovecraft?
Lovecraft was a horror writer that somewhat came up with cosmic horror. Highly recommend.
