It's not always about speed. This is a cruiser with a living room, a couch and two Easy boy chairs surrounded with a LS note. Nothing wrong with that. Nice car.
That's a good looking cruiser! Thumbs up to the owner. Once again, I didn't event know this car/model existed. First I thought it's a sister car to the Opel Omega/Cadillac Catera but it seems bigger so probably a different platform. Nice video Ross!
I've always loved the Statesman they're big comfy cruisers I nearly bought one instead of my FG XR6,but I'm happy with the Ford she's been so reliable & trouble free for 8yrs now best car I have ever owned, top review mate another home run 👍
Vx calais gen3 seem to be cheap too. I got one for a good price with extractors and exhaust otr and tune. Does the job for a summer cruiser. Low and wheels and I’m set 😊
As a Ford guy, have always had a soft spot for these, timeless design I remember racing one off the lights as a P Plater in my BA 2 XR6 N/A, got him by a car length but he sounded way cooler 😊❤
I miss my 94 VR Caprice with the Iron Lion 5.0Lt V8! Was an absolute lounge suite on wheels and absolutely soaked up the kilometers so effortlessly. Had to move it on when fuel started to head towards $1.50 per litre and I needed a station wagon. Unfortunately some of the plastics in it were starting to deteriorate, especially the rear valance on the boot lid, with the dreaded cracking starting.
I have been looking at stato’s for last couple of months & there a few nice ones on carsales atm. There is a nice one in W.A now Ross… 2002 model & in excellent condition… silver, 190,000 k/s, $11,990. Untouched bro.
Thank you for sharing the video Ross. Thank you for sharing this Holden Statesman. I enjoyed the video looking at the car. I hope you get a Statesman/ Caprice. They should have sold this car in the United States. They did with the Caprice PPV ( stripped) not loaded like this or this generation.

A proper cruiser is a VQ - VS statesman with the proper holden V8, cant beat the sound of the iron lion over the LS, good cruiser doesn't have to be fast.
Funny enough you have always been able to get these so cheap. I only paid 3.5k for mine in the video. Needed a bit of work but just maintenance stuff. Dunno if they will go up or not time will tell
Yeah it's the same for the other heavy LS1 cars too, like the V8 Holden Adventra and Crewman Cross8 etc being legal on Ps but they have the added advantage of being AWD.
@@craigsampson3386 I don't know why I haven't seen much of these cars on the road at all. Having one of these built and tuned would be really cool and because they are awd they would get off the line even better.
@@Pia-ho9dm haha probably because they were expensive when new and most of Holden's AWD Commodore based vehicles were aimed at off-roading which not everybody was into back then. Holden's love affair with AWD based Commodores only lasted from VY to VZ based vehicles. VE was in prototype stages but got cancelled mid production, but has the floor pan still and wide enough flares to accommodate their AWD system still if you wanted to convert one. HSV did some magic on them too, Ross has actually reviewed a HSV Avalanche on his channel which is the sportier version of the Holden Adventra. HSV also made a sportier version of the Holden Crewman Cross8 called the Avalanche XUV. HSV even put Holden's AWD system into the Monaro and called it the HSV Coupé4 which looks cool with the colour coded wide bodykit wheel arch flares, the lower spec'd Holden AWD cars wide flares were unpainted black plastic for the off roading appeal as thats the market they were aiming for, similar to Subaru Outback type buyers I suppose. I bought a 2005 Holden VZ Adventra recently in LX8 trim, the LX part stands for luxury and the 8 is for the V8. Its quite nice, sort of a mix between Calais and Statesman levels of luxury, even got a factory sub and factory rear air shocks Holden call level ride for heavy towing so it doesn't sag. Mines still got some rare original optional extras from Holden dealership like a Holden nudge bar, bash plates underneath and even a Holden first aid kit 😆 Previous owner added some extras like an aftermarket larger trans sump and trans cooler to help keep the 4sp auto 4L60e trans from over heating when heavy towing or slow off roading, as it can tow 2.1T (Crewman Cross8's can tow even more at 2.5T). Also got a Kings suspension lift kit, larger all terrain tyres, a Trutrac rear LSD so its pretty capable off road, even did a full LED headlights conversion and light bar with spotties. It's also got a full stainless steel exhaust and extractors by Di Filippo (now known as Manta) and retuned on 95 octane. Stock VZ Adventras made 250kw, mines probably atleast 270kw now with those mods, so similar to the HSV output from their Avalanche that Ross reviewed before, so mine would be a similar 0-100km/h time to that probably. Others have added a turbo or supercharged them and they hook up well. They only came out factory with the 4sp auto, but there are now aftermarket conversion kits you can buy to 6sp manual swap it from a VE the TR6060 or even the 6L80e 6sp auto if you wanted a better auto. I've even seen somebody AWD swap a Statesman like this one in Ross' video, as they have the same long wheel base floor pan as the Adventra/Crewman Cross8. Such a rare, niche but awesome AWD platform Holden made back then, shame it didn't sell well enough.
