Congratulations on the great looking purchase. I bought a manual VYSS wagon sight unseen from Adelaide many years ago and drove it back to Victoria. Admittedly the car at the time was only six or seven years old and pretty low KM so it didn't seem too risky. Turned out to be a good choice as all needed for RWC was set of wiper blades and I still have the car after about 14 years of ownership. Based on filming location you are in or near my neighbourhood, so hopefully see this beast out on the road one day
Happy to catch up anytime! I’m near Kilsyth! It’s always a big risk when buying interstate, but it’s pulled through so far! All I needed for RWC in the end was a couple of globes and a windscreen washer motor!
Very nice HSV VS CLUBSPORT! My pride and joy is a HSV VT CLUBSPORT 5L manual. Build 1692 18th may 1999. Last month of production for series 1. 6 year project and over $20000 so far. I'm keen to see your future vids.👍
I did the same over here in NZ bought my Vr senator sight unseen but my drive home was only about 700km. Nice car mate👌🏽 I’m doing a few vids on the progress of mine too. I’ve subbed to your channel🙌🏽
I did watch your video! It was about right at the time I had bought mine originally and I was amazed by the timing! Thank you! I’ll jump over and subscribe to you now!
@@ShannonSmith-z6g yeah nah I took them off and put them away. The same which will be happening with the rear brake lights. Can’t stand the amber, car is old enough, don’t need to make it more obvious
Love the vids. I see you’ve put the orange on, looks better, but to be correct it was the rectangle ones for series one VS. Not sure if you trying to be 100% correct. Gary West can do your gear knob too, to the HSV spec, he did my VR
I’ll be keeping all original HSV parts. Someone just sold similar seats for $3000 in worse condition. So I’ll be keeping them in the shed, but I do want to change the trim and wheels.
I paid less than $20,000. The cheapest at the time of purchase was $26,500. Currently in VIC there is a cherry black listed for $17,500 but it is on the WOVR and has a broken auto. This was by definition, cheapest running, driving, manual hsv.
I was seriously looking hard for a VN SS, but this came up and it’s always been my second favourite. I owned a blue one about 10 years ago which was also manual, I always wanted another.
An LS will probably happen IF the motor or trans ever gives up. Looked into the price of stroking the fivey out, and just comparatively it’s just cheaper and easier to go the LS route.
@@RicksWorld91 The new-style tri spokes aren't my thing and will destroy the period-correct-ness of this car as it sits, but up to you. Personally, I would find out what offset could help the wheels sit where they need to fill out the guards and then lower the car just enough to make it practical (ish), subtle and still looking like a classic - which it is. It isn't a modern car and won't ever look it, so best to lean into the styles back then. Different strokes for different folks i guess though.
Had no significant issues when I bought it other than a small vibration at low speed, which over the next few videos I’ll upload will address it. But all things considered, was no significant things of concern.

I posted in the previous comments, I don’t have a reason to talk shit to anyone, it was unregistered and sat for SEVERAL years so I got lucky and was willing to make the commitment driving from Queensland to Victoria
Great buy mate and awesome combo! Good luck with the build 😎
Thanks mate! Sometimes I wish I held out for cherry black! But it’s great regardless, happy I opted for the manual!
@@RicksWorld91 would've been more cash easy if it was cherry black. Best colour!

She sounds a beaut mate! Gotta do what we can to keep these girls alive!
nice I had a cherry black one back in the early 2000s, loved it
Cherry Black would be a dream, but the price difference is insane!

@ awesome man thanks for the support!
Put the original guard indicators on it. They never came with clear oval.

Less than 20k is a steal. Its a HSV keep it original and it will be more appreciated.

Your dead right mate there is just something about the old aussie v8's that you can not beat!
Yeah, you can’t really beat the old fiveys for noise. Everything else, yeah.. noise, no way.
Great video! Keen to see some more
Appreciate it, more coming soon!
How much was it? We keep seeing these "cheapest hsv in the country" vids but no one says what they actually paid. 🤦
170xxKm and manual lol idk bout cheapest in the country

Black? Looks green mate. Anyway, not a bad looking example of a Clubby. Nice
Its definitely black, but has green metallics/pearl through it!
Thats awesome man one of the best looking hsv's

@RicksWorld91 vn ss is a pretty cool car when ever I was able to buy one they always seemed to vanish from the market
How did you drive the 1700kms to Vic if the vehicle is unregistered?
Bought an unregistered vehicle permit from QLD. It allows you to travel from Point A to Point B or for the purpose of getting a roadworthy.
Nice car, get rid of the nasty 3 spoke wheels and stick an LS3 in it.👌👍
An LS will probably happen IF the motor or trans ever gives up. Looked into the price of stroking the fivey out, and just comparatively it’s just cheaper and easier to go the LS route.
Under $20k and 178,000 ks only averge 6,300 ks a year assuming it is 1996 model, thats a steal. I swear I see green in some of ya shots
Yeah it’s a 96 model, and phantom mica has green metallics through it!
@RicksWorld91 Good luck with the build dude. Kudos for taking the gamble, sight unseen. I am too chicken shit to do something like that 🤣🤣.
Please don't change the wheellssss
I am strongly considering doing the tri-spoke 20” wheels. As I am very fond of the tri’s, but prefer a larger size wheel to fill the guards in

@@toddscarsAbsolutely 👍
It’s not necessarily the offset that’s the concern, the guards are just so wide and big for the smaller 17s
Why so cheap huh didnt say any problems or nothing

185 LOL
Hey for the time, it was no powerhouse, not compared to today’s standards. But this was a different time, performance wasn’t exactly - priority
How much or you just talking shit like the rest for viewers
