I'm sure there's an expert out there somewhere that know how to code it off. I actually enjoy the function as it allows you to be stopped, and just briefly tapping the gas lets the car slowly roll in situation where you don't want quick movement.
Or any f10, not limited to m5 (except m buttons) DCT is just Auto Hold on for automatics. Tap on the gas to keep rolling when Auto Hold is enabled. Also no need to wait for 800rpm. Active vents inside (any f10, not grilles) will heat it up asap. And BMW recommends to begin driving immediately. All the higher rev limit does is warm up the catalytic converter, not engine.
My daughter bought the shirt for my Birthday...I think she may have went to Amazon, but I'm not 100% sure.....I think I need to get into the Tshirt business :)
Hi Bob I'm looking into purchasing a M5 F10 2013 face-lift model competition it has 53k miles and run in service was done at 3000 miles its my first M5 what are your thoughts does it sound OK Full BMW Service history
The facelift (LCI) didn't happen till model year 2014...there's some significant improvements. The 1200mile service didn't happen till 3000...don't think that'll make the car fall apart :) If all other services are documented it sounds ok. Look for signs that the car may have been tuned previously. If so be a bit more careful. If you're not sure let a qualified BMW mechanic go over things for you
To all that were curious what the Park release under the cupholders is supposed to look like, here's a link with pic: f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1052180 I got conflicting info from a couple folks saying theirs is different. If someone can confirm two variations please....
Sorry for not posting vids.... my daughter does all the filming and editing and she's been super busy! She's working on some more stuff though. I'll try to post more soon.
It revs high because of cold start for heating catalytic converter. Nothing to do with oil, it’s only because of stupid emissions. The car will not distribute oil properly unless your driving, you should never leave it idling to warm up.
Good catch. I think someone else caught it in an earlier comment, but you're absolutely correct...don't know what I was thinking...hard to film and think sometimes lol! On my current X4 M40i the car goes high idle for 30sec!....hot or cold....drives me nuts!...but that cats are doing there thing then I guess ;)
"Tap-to-roll" oh yeah, tap and it does roll. The electronic safety brake is a modern anomaly, at least there is no mechanical release button force to over-power. "Tap-to-roll" - I love it (and so do my neighbours now).
While I would agree that sitting and idling for 10 minutes is suboptimal, waiting 20 seconds for the idle to come down is always a good idea. When BMW says drive the car immediately I'm sure they're referring to sitting and 'warming' up the car for 10 minutes, not 20 seconds for the cold start idle to come down. Good catch though.
+Bob Mac The cold-idle is nothing to do with oil distribution. It is a mode where the engine runs very inefficiently, putting a lot of heat into the exhaust and catalyst. This is to ensure the catalyst reaches a critical temperature as early as possible so that it can convert harmful emissions into N2, co2 and h20. It is around 10-15 seconds as that is what is required on regulation drive cycles to warm the catalysts before the vehicle drives. All cars from the last 15 years do this. Incidentally all engines will go through cold shock tests where the engine will be turned on and then immediately go to peak power to test durability.
@@grahamconway6923 Thanks for re-iterating...I was schooled on this a bit earlier on when I first posted this. Makes sense for emission reasons...now I want to figure out how to turn off cold start :)
+Bob Mac most ECU flash (for performance) come with the option to remove cold-start. Cold-start is especially problematic if you have a sports/race exhaust and and have removed catalysts. Then you just wake up the neighborhood!
Bro, you cannot wear an M5 shirt while doing an M5 video. That is like wearing a t-shirt of the band you are seeing in concert. Interesting video otherwise. Thanks.
Perfect, concise and to the point. Many vloggers should learn this from you!
The extra 12v power sockets are if you have option "465 - 12v power sockets"
I can’t wait to try these features on my imaginary m5 😭😭😭
Lol! Prices are coming down quite a bit...be patient :)
😭😭😭
a trick : you can watch series on Flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Jaxtyn Crew yup, I have been using Flixzone} for since november myself =)
As anajj amigos zkw a haiwnwoow
thank you! I wondered why the car would randomly roll or NOT !
hi bob, thanks for showing the features. can you explain more about the tap to roll function? any ways to turn this function off?
I'm sure there's an expert out there somewhere that know how to code it off. I actually enjoy the function as it allows you to be stopped, and just briefly tapping the gas lets the car slowly roll in situation where you don't want quick movement.
You can't turn it off. Why would you, it engages the clutch. If you turn it off, you ain't going anywhere!
I have a F80 dct and did not know about the dct latch to put to neutral. Thank you.
Saved the best tip for last! Thank you for this info....very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Bob! Digging the M5 shirt you're wearing in this video!! Where can I get it? Thanks!!
Never knew about the M button features and the wiper blade functions. Great vid
Thanks! I'll be posting new stuff soon hopefully!

Put on your seat belt and the handbrake will automatically release ;)
Thanks, I caught it while watching the final video LOL!
yarre123 nice job
This guy is great !! Thanks
Why didn’t you demonstrate the neural position?
The high idle on startup is actually to pre-heat the CATS it's got nothing to do with oil.
Yup...you're correct...answered that years ago ;)
The only problem is with setting your M1 mode manually like that is you don’t have the opportunity to turn off the traction control our the MDM.
How reliable was the m5 to you? Where is the car today?
I couldn’t wait to get home and see/try some the features. lol
Awesome video .I'm wondering if you can show a video on transmission fluid service on the m5?
I did actually se my 12v in my 550i today by an accident😂 had the car for about 2 years

HI Bob, Could you demo how to remove those cupholders to access the transmission latch? I tried and was afraid that I'd break them!! Thanks, S
Seamus,
I unfortunately don't have the M5 anymore. Maybe someone else here could chime in. What year is yours?
Last little bonus tip with no seat belt on ;))
LOL! I was so shocked that it didn't work...it wasn't till I was editing that I noticed my belt was off
Very informative, great video.
what color is that interior??
Silverstone Merino Leather
Awesome video Bob. I love the shirt. Where can I get one

Yeah...I definately misspoke on that one...did turn off the coldstart on my X4...annoying! A little less heat in the cat for 20 seconds...lol.
The primary purpose of the cold start is to warm up the cats, not to distribute oil.

last fact you need to have set belt on then it works
lol...yes. Because of the video I didn't have it on. Good catch!
haha Your wife Part was good 😂
I have a M550i
I like your shirt
Ahhh! The first to notice! I usually try to wear M related clothing when doing the videos
