Thank you so much for this compilation, Smothers Brothers Channel. Many great memories, my parents and I were huge fans of the Smothers Brothers Show back in the 1960s and I loved the next iteration of the show, too. I forgot how funny Pat Paulson was! The guy could sing, too, which I didn’t remember.
I remember his singing very well. It was surreal and unforgettable how that magnificent big baritone could boom out from such a slight frame and hangdog visage.
Love Pat Paulsen. He was actually on the ballot in some states. Love his deadpan delivery.

Ahhh, I wish they included the funniest skit. There was a skit about the Round Table and all the candidates trying to pull the Sword from the Stone. None succeeded and Paulsen later comes by as a janitor cleaning the room, sees the sword, pulls it out and places it in his trash barrel as he then walks off.
I know he's dead but I still think he is the best we got now

If you want to know what a joke our country is, remember that Pat Paulson had to quit doing this as a gag on television because there was a rule that said they had to give anybody else running for president equal time if Pat got up there to do this fake running for president biz. Think about that, they were worried about a comedian and needing equal time.
Yeah, highly unlikely. The gag went on across two elections, as I recall, and the show Was cancelled because of the political satire.
