I just picked up a Lenovo system with an i7 7700, 16gb DDR4, 512gb SSD, Quadro P2000 5gb GDDR5 (similar gaming performance to a 1050), 400w Platinum PSU for £41 / $52 so crazy deals are still possible!
Is it a pick-me-up? If so, good pricing. The ram and ssd alone are worth more than the cost. If you intend to hold on to it for the long haul though, that's a worse idea. It has no upgrade paths, and all upgrades involve other upgrades to the point where starting fresh with 400-600 dollar build is better.

I used to use hot swap bays. It made it easy for sharing files with a friend of mine, who also had one. Of course this was long before there were even 1gb thumb drives. No need for them once the size of thumb drives grew. This was late 90's/early 2000's.
Hot swap bays are used for parenting. Use a small OS drive with no room for games mounted in the case and Install games to the removeable drive bay. They can have their game drive back after homework, chores or end of punishment/grounding.
I used swappable disk bays for years when I worked at a training facility. It let us load drives for the next week while machines were being used for this week, as well as for trainers to have their own dedicated drives they carried between rooms. Super handy. But not a normal use case!
FX Processors aren't as bad as people say they were but like, right now, if you wanna build Budget Budget, you can get a six core, for like 10 bucks, with motherboard for like 20$, many people overlook them even for like basic workstation tasks 30$ pc, if you count case and psu

On something like this, I'd be taking it a part first.... clean it up and put it back together..... upgrading the ram on the way and putting in the hard drive(s). definetly a recycled PC... they gave it away, and all you paid for was the shipping!
I once back in 2017 found a deal for a Phenom II based PC for around $50. I spent on upgrades and daily drove that b*tch for awhile. I Regarding the fan, It's easy to fix seized fans with some weed whacker motor (or any) oil, by lubricating the spindle. pop the blades off, use a q-tip, or syringe, pop it back in and spin em. I've done this with some fans I got in a trade with an older build.

I have an ibuypower with a fx-6300 from back in the day. Upgraded the 1050 2gb to a 1650 4gb and upgraded ram to 16gb. With Bazzite linux on it the rig plays everything I used to play on windows just fine.

Two 8GB DDR3-1600 DIMMs DVD Drive Memory card reader Semi-modular PSU NZXT Source 210 case I am not a gamer so it works fine for my needs. Its not my primary system, might upgrade it to a AMD FX-8320E for the right price.

Hot swap bays where the cheapest and fastest way to move heavy files. Hell, it probably still is because in general a hdd in a hotswap bay is faster then a usb based external drive or flashdrive. I installed a hotswap bay to my girlfriends computer and it made it real conveint to just swap in a whole hd full of movies.
What hurts this pc the most is single core ipc. Same weakness as when fx was current and competing with intel core 3rd and 4th gen. I remember an i3-4130 slapped the snot of a fx-8350 in terms of average fps and 1%lows.
6 bay icy dock on my TrueNAS server loaded with SSDs. Got sick of having to pull the system out to get at internal drives if one started to fail. So yes, big fan of hot swap bays. Though I use it for easy access. I still power down before swapping out a bad drive.

Amd FX was a great CPU, I built at least 15 of them and personally used one for 4 months as well I always go Asus 89% of the time and particularly with those AMD FX i used Asus board and that it was a great combo just both worked together perfectly and quite fast as well i had the GTX 760 OC in most of the 15 builds and few had GTX 660 if I remember correctly. im quite certain even in 2024 it's still a very capable system and the 900 series GTX overall a great combo everything!! $77 shiiter with tax ay yo what a hell of a score!! Just the 900 series GTX sells for 50 all day!! Even 65

this would be a good computer to get if you have other better parts that you can put in from previous builds that died for various reasons, like lets say the psu died on one and you can just transplant a better CPU, provided you got one that's compatible with the mobo, and a better gpu, then you might have something that might be able to keep up with newer games, if you're looking for something that runs older games just fine? then this pc might be great for those looking to play some classics.
run 1600 by 900 or 1440 x 900 or 1360by768 even if monitors 1080p on older cpus for fortnite it makes the game run way smoother and does not make it look much worse 82% res scale also helps.

PLEASE do a video about the RX 560 4gb cards that fit in the 2.5" slot of a EliteDesk Mini 705 G4. You could build this tiny system for 200 bucks and mount it to the back of your tv and it will play esports and stuff like baldur's gate 3. The cards are 75 bucks on amazon and the elitedesk computers are like 75 bucks on ebay. slap some t force 16gb of ddr4 in there for another 30 bucks and maybe 30 bucks for an nvme and screw it onto the back of your living room TV

There are a lot of different tax rates across the us so they don't usually show that until after item goes in cart.

11:50 "FX is struggling" while having 60-70% CPU utilization in-game. Similar for graphics. It is quite strange too, but it does not seem to struggle.
