I picked up a janky HP tower at a pawnshop for $50, when I opened it up it had a 750 watt ps and a 5700xt inside. I guess they thought it was a stock HP tower. 🤷♂️

Nice pick up. 2400g is at least the 4 core 8 thread version iirc. Been so long since i seen one. Rx 5700xt are a strong used gpu too. I bet you got a tidy profit on that rig.
@@Jwalker76 I swapped the case out with a newer non HP one and sold it for $425 then bought a new 7900gre.
I lived in Vegas for 7 years; every time my friends and family would come to visit they would always want to go see the Pawn Stars shop. I would always tell them, "Sure, I can take you. But you need to know that it's literally just a pawn shop and there's nothing special about it." They would always dismiss my warning and then always be so massively let down whenever I would take them there to see it.
There is a small gift shop section that they keep out of frame on the TV show, at least last time I was there about 10 years ago. Otherwise, yep just a pawn shop lol.
@@enragedbacon470 Yeah, they added the gift shop about 2 years after the show came out. The look of complete disappointment on all my friends' and relatives' faces whenever I would take them there was mind boggling to me; like they refused to believe me until they saw it for themselves.
Not to mention the items are catered/filtered for the show.

The pawn shop probably gave the person that brought it in a $300 loan and when the person didn't come back for it then they sold it for $678.00. So while the price may have been low, the pawn shop made a good profit off of this PC.

Always negotiate at a pawn shop. At a minimum you can normally get the tax knocked off.
I bought a gaming PC from a pawn shop a few years ago and it had a 10600k, ASRock Z490, 16 GB RAM, 2070 Super FE, Cooler Master TD500 case, Arctic Freezer 34 and I can't remember what else but, I sold the 2070 for over $600 and the MOBO, CPU & cooler for over $320.
Made my money back and still had parts left over for other builds I put together and sold.
I have looked at pawn shops so often, but I find the prices to be really prohibitive, aka they don't know what they are buying or don't care to sell a desktop for 700 bucks that I can get from eBay for 300.
Sad part is that pawn shop probably paid 100$ for that computer. Profit over 500$....
One of my nephews worked at a pawn shop and his daughter told me: "Yeah my Dad works at a place where dreams go to die."

I used to work for first cash pawn and was a asst. Manager. So what they do is buy mom and pop pawn shops. Keep the name, and the shop eventually becomes a first cash pawn shop. It's a corporate pawn shop. No not all pawn shop rip people off.

I actually just upgraded my pc from an i7 4770k to a ryzen 5 5600x a few days ago and man the difference is night and day. Still a great cpu 4 years later and what a nice little coincidence this was that you guys found one lol

@@AmxDude1969 I've had a 2700x + 5700xt since their launches. I loved them. Just swapped to a 7700x and it's insane the difference it makes. This 5700xt feels like a whole new monster! I suggest whenever you can / want to upgrade, swap to am5. Unless you can find a used 5000 series x3d chip. Hell, even a used 5600x near me is ~$80. That would be a huge upgrade as well.
@@minecraftvsmasterz I already have a plan on how I want to upgrade: either 7000 or 9000 series ryzen 9/7, mid-tier atx wifi mobo, 1100W+ psu, and either a 50 series nvida gpu once they come out or a 4070ti super since it fits well with what I need. I'm also going to keep the 5700xt so that I can use both gpus in linux. gpu passthrough will be useful since I have to use certain applications on windows that don't exist on linux
I recently bought a pawn shop pc too, it had an rtx 3060 ti, ryzen 5 3600, yeah y ou know what ill jsut say the prebuilt was it was a skytech shadow 3.0
it was only 370$
i found a Gigabyte m5 10th gen i5 cpu and a 3050 gpu for $280 which they got for 450 to 500 on ebay. they match prices from ebay and the shop owner wasn't very tech savy

I wish I had pawn shops where I live. We had 1 small one, and it just closed a few months ago. Now my only options are drive 2+ hours, or shop online...
Been my experience at least here in Tulsa that pawn shops ask for WAY more than what stuff is worth. Like they forgot that the entire point of someone wanting to buy something at a pawn shop is it's supposed to be cheaper than buying it new.

I run an i7 9700k Asus rog strix 3070ti oc with 32gb ddr4 3200mhz ram and it's still killing it at 1440p , I've seen a gameplay comparison on YT with the same gpu paired with an i7 13700k and the i7 9700k was only 2 fps less in most games . It's amazing that four generations isn't that much better .

I buy a lot from pawn shops. Their current price can always be haggled on. Super pawns love layaway and ez pawns will usually move 20% on the prices minimum but if its 6 months old they will do 50% or more.

i picked up a brand new in the box cyberpower pc for 450 bucks. came with a rx7600 and a ryzen 7600, probably the best deal ive ever gotten only had one 16gb stick though had to buy a 32gb ddr5 kit for a 100 bucks. so 550 dollar system total and i love it.

I'm going to give you guys a heads up, look at the sticker on the computer next time if you buy it at a pawn shop if it's a few months old or been sitting there for a while you can haggle them down a little bit.
The thing that makes this a better deal compared to most is. Toasty Bros know what to look for. If myself or a lot of other people were to complete the same task. The outcome would more then likely be a lot worse. Thanks for the information.
i loved this idea of trying to find gaming pc at a pawn shop, but it would have been way more entertaining if you guys went to more then just 2. you guys should go to like 10 or so and try and find more pc and rate them from good to bad on price to performance, would make some good content and might be able to get a few videos from it.
In the UK, they have dedicated "pawn shops" that sell games, computers and entertainment media like CEX. The RandomGamingHD UA-cam channel often reviews parts from CEX. The prices are mormally fair and sometimes you get some gs for less. Does the USA have something similar?

I have a RX580, i5 7500, AsRock motherboard, Corsair 32gb ram, 256 nvme, 1tbHDD, NZXT H510 case, NZXT tower cpu cooler, Antec 750w psu, Corsair rgb intake fans and controller, and NZXT 10 steel blade exhaust fans,. Case and cooler are white, everything else is black. Plus a HyperX rgb keyboard and Mouse. Hand built and cable managed by me. I’d sell it for $500 right now. Or trade it for a Meta Quest 3.

I got a an insane deal on my current pc from a pawn shop it has a rtx 2060 originally had 16 gigs but i upgraded to 32 gigs and and intel i7 12700f 1 500 gig ssd and a 1 tb hard drive and i got a 1tb m.2 for it and it works fine
Edit: it also came with a 1440p 165hz monitor AND it was only 200 bucks
Ive only gotten fair deals at best from pawnshops. Most of the time they are so far off of the mark that its not even worth negotiating. And the "we have lay a way" doesn't make that right.
No dude like my RTX 3060 is $150-300 most of the time but some of those older GPUs with overclocked chips are running for $300+ just because crypto miners are like "oh these are obsolete now, lets add that to our mining rig" and then the price shoots up due to people realizing theyre being bought to mine bitcoin, even with a terrible GPU.

Same here, the only PC shop is very bad. That is an opportunity though. I can sell gaming PCs below $600 almost instantly.I keep a close eye on Marketplace, and make lots of offers. You have to be quick, and sometimes buy things you don't plan to use right away, this week I have bought 3 3000 series GPUs, but am not currently working on PCs that need them, but I will and the prices were great.

The pawn shop market here is very bad.I haven't seen good pcs in the local pawn shops in several years.Not since I bought one. There were two older model cyberpowers and I bought the ones that a 2TB. There was another one with one. The gpu was awful one of the earliest NVidias bought one on amazon and replaced it and it runs good.I have it as a backup.
What are you going to charge for this pc in your shop ? 800 dollars I would guess. Maybe 900. I don't think it's a 1000 dollar pc but that is just my opinion.

you have to edit in the names under the settings for the on screen display. do you know how to enable on screen display within msi afterburner? same place where you pick which things will show on screen you can set the name to something other than "CPU" "GPU"

While the price they paid was better than what toasty bros would normally charge for those specs. There was no warranty and it did have dodgy wiring, then there's the hair. Anyone seeing the hair in this PC would be saying "oh hell no".

to be fair nobody can tell the difference in speed on a nvme drive while running a game, to say "an old gen4 drive" comes across snobby more than pro

I seriously wish I could have that copy of the fried green tomatoes movie, I lost my mom in 2014 due to cancer and that was one of her favorite movies and I haven't ever been able to find it.
