*VIDEO IDEA:* What if Austria-Hungary went through with the Sixtus Affair _(where austria tried to betray germany in 1917) Edit: Lol I guess he did the video
Hey! One thing I wanted to mention in connection of the Hungarian uprising and revolutionary war of 1848-49, and just share my opinion (as a Hungarian, who's grandparents are from Transylvania): Hungary made an alliance with the Slovaks (who were called "tótok" in Hungarian) in 1848, because the Slovakian nationalistic movement's leaders thought it was their best interest, to be a well respected minority in an indipendent Hungary, than in the large Habsburg Empire. After some time - and at the end of the conflict, -Transilvanian Hungarians and Romanians made peace with eachother for basically the same reason. The biggest problem was with the Croats and Serbs, because they were very much influenced by the Austrian leadership. Croatia was in a Commonwealth with Hungary from 1091 (when St. Ladislaus the I, the king of Hungary occupied the region), so they could've achived the same status of indipendence within the Kingdom of Hungary, as Hungary wanted to be within the Habsburg Monarchy. So I think even tho Hungary became multiethnic (mainly after the XVIII. century), the minor nations' leaders could've made a long-lasting pact with the new Hungarian government.
The Romanians were on the side of the Hungarian revolutionaries at the provision of the Proclamation at point 12, by which they would have been part of Hungary, after which they turned their backs on Kossuth, contributing to these and the curses made to the Serbs.
Realism 3, Ottoman is the sickman of Europe, they couldn't start such a war. Also Walachia annexing Hungarian land early is ridiculous, they were way too poor and their army was bad.
9:10 Actually during the 1848 Revolutions in Spain, yes a Carlist War was going on, but it wasn't this time to put some '''Carlos'' in charge, actually the ''Second Carlist War'' as it would be called, was more like a little insurrection in north Spain, mostly in Catalonia. The reason the war occurred was that Isabel II refused to marry Carlos María Isidro son. So if the Second Carlist War was a success, which is veeery unlikely, the result would be that Isabel II agrees to marry Carlos ''junior'', or as the carlist called him ''Carlos VI''. Thus unifying both Carlist and ''liberal'' dynastic lines.
As a Pole, I agree with most points you made about my country's fate should these uprisings succeed. The Polish client state would be very likely indeed, considering that just 20 some years prior a Russian client state did indeed exist in Poland before rebelling and losing. The only difference I think would happen, is that in my opinion Russia would attempt to weaken this new Polish client state by separating the eastern, Ukrainian part of Galicia, and annexing it directly into the Russian Empire. Maybe they'd also give Germany back some of the land, but it's much less likely. P.S: Now that I think of it, there was an (unsuccesfull) attempt to start a Polish uprising in Russia between the years of 1846 and 1848. I wonder if it's success would change much, probably yes since newly unified Poland would, as per the rules of "All uprising succeed", win against Russia.
Realism: 7/10. The idea the russians and ottomans would effectively establish non agression is ridiculous. Russia was too heavily invested in pan slavism and the ottomans just united the south slavs (well except slovenes but nobody cares about them) under their oppression. There's no way they're just going to sit on their hands. Also the ottomans shouldn't have been strong anyway. They were the sickman of europe, their army was outdated, so was their political system and their economy etc. I think even a new hungary would at least be able to secure status quo antebellum. Also im pretty sure the independence of poland in galicia and prussian poland would have led to a general rebellion in congress poland
He also entirely ignored the 1848 Frankfurt German empire, entirely ignoring its aims, established constitution and goals. For example the whole „we have no desire to expand“ schtick doesent make sense because they absolutely included Austria in their planned borders as well as Bohemia. An independent Austrian identity didn’t even really exist at the time and the idea of Kleindeutschland didn’t have much traction.
Yeah and even if the Russians do succeed in forming a polish client state I guarantee it wouldn't last a decade before a rebellion overthrows it starting another conflict with Russia.
suddenly hearing a bulgarian (I assume) accent after hours of listening to people with Canadian, American, British, and Australian accents is... interesting, his accent practically woke me up from a dead sleep (not, of course, to say that the accent is painful or bad, I find it quite nice, it's just a stark contrast.
I appreciate that, it's my charm and I have been working to improve it, but it's the thing that sets me apart from other creators. Also yes, it's Bulgarian.
But Hungary withstood Austria and had to fight the Croatian rebellion Slovakian rebellion and the ban at vojvodin rebellion considering by this time the Ottoman Empire was in decline and wasn’t there an Albanian revolt , also they had problem collecting taxes due to armed rogue militias in the balkans meaning it will be 3 times more dysfunctional than it was irl
As a Czech, im a bit dissapointed that Bohemia didnt became independent, as there were some revolutions aswell, but when he said Austria-Bohemia, i was like: I mean its alright like🤷♂ (great video as always)
I’m pretty sure an earlier unified Germany would include Austria. Prior to WW2, Austrians were considered as German as Bavarians and Prussians. It was only due to a certain mustache man that Austrians tried distancing themselves from being German. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Empire_(1848-1849)
Very good video but I have know idea how the Ottoman Empire is supposed to beat Hungary. At that time the Austrian army was probably better and more advanced than the Ottoman army but they still wouldn’t have beaten Hungary without Russian support. Meanwhile Russia would have invade the Ottoman Empire.
Also , The ukranians rebeled in galicia to in 1848, also eastern galicia was Majority ukranian , Only Lwow was polish. So it doesnt make sense "Creating a country based on nationality.", and also romanians in south bukovina
got an idea "What if Naples formed Italy?", really unrealistic but still a cool idea since naples was a lot different and less republican to the rest, and more opposed to unification
In an alternate timeline where all the Revolutions of 1848 succeeded, the landscape of Europe and the wider world would be dramatically different. Here's a detailed speculative timeline: **1848 - The Year of Victorious Revolutions:** - Across Europe, the people's demands for liberal constitutions, national unification, and social reforms are met with success. - Monarchies concede to the formation of constitutional governments, and a wave of democratic fervor sweeps the continent. **1850s - A Decade of Reform and Unification:** - The German states unify into a single democratic nation, becoming a leading power in Europe. - Italy also unifies, and with the support of its people, it becomes a hub of cultural and economic progress. - The Habsburg Empire is restructured into a federation of equal nations, each with its own constitution. **1860s - Industrial Expansion and Social Change:** - With political barriers removed, a surge in industrial development begins, bolstered by the free movement of people and goods. - Workers' rights are advanced, leading to the establishment of the eight-hour workday and the end of child labor. **1870s - The Rise of International Cooperation:** - The success of democracy in Europe encourages the formation of an international body to promote peace and cooperation. - Colonized nations in Asia and Africa begin to push for independence, inspired by the European revolutions. **1880s - A New World Order:** - The international body evolves into a proto-United Nations, mediating disputes and fostering global collaboration. - Scientific and cultural exchanges increase, leading to breakthroughs in medicine, science, and the arts. **1890s - The Dawn of a Progressive Era:** - Social welfare systems are established, providing universal healthcare and education. - Women's suffrage is achieved worldwide, marking a significant step towards gender equality. **1900s - The Century of Peace:** - With the mechanisms for peaceful conflict resolution in place, the world avoids the catastrophic wars of the 20th century. - The focus turns to environmental conservation, and significant efforts are made to combat climate change. **1910s - Technological Revolution:** - Technological advancements accelerate, with the invention of the internet coming decades earlier. - Space exploration begins in earnest, and by the mid-20th century, humans land on Mars. **1920s - A Global Community:** - The concept of nation-states begins to fade, replaced by a global identity and citizenship. - The world's languages blend into a universal tongue, facilitating even greater understanding and unity among people. **1930s - Utopia or Dystopia?** - The rapid changes bring about a philosophical debate: has utopia been achieved, or has humanity lost something vital in its quest for perfection? - A movement to preserve cultural heritage and diversity gains momentum, balancing the global identity with local traditions. This speculative timeline imagines a world transformed by the success of the Revolutions of 1848, leading to a more united and peaceful global society. However, it's important to remember that history is complex, and such sweeping changes would bring their own set of challenges and unintended consequences.
Many Austrians also wanted to be part of Germany, that only failed because there were too many non-german ethnicities in Austria and because the prussian and austrian monarchies absolutely didnt want to. But if the non-german ethnicities would gain independence from Austria, and if the Revolutionists would be way more powerful than the rulers, Austria would have joined germany.

As a Belgian, it makes me happy that Limburg is coming back to us 😊 .The Netherlands did not want to give them to us even if this region wanted to be part of Belgium.
Romanians and Serbs had no chance to win against Hungary without Austrian imperial military support. In our timeline, they were defeated such as the Austrians, who asked Tzar Nichlas of Russia to put down the Hungarian revolution.
Wow, you really put a lot of time making the Ottomans look competent by feeding their vassals Hungarian land and then just let them crumble like a brittle cookie, I think the Hungarians would have done better considering how well they have done in the actual revolution against the Austrians whom would have been stronger than the Ottomans, even if the Ottomans had the numerical advantage, I highly doubt that they would be able to conquer significant portion (and certainly not all of) Hungary. It's really interesting to think about all the Hungarians who wouldn't have left because of the success, fun fact: Hungarians who fought in the revolution and emigrated fought in the American civil war
Interesting fact regarding the American civil war, thank you for sharing. I didn't want to downplay the Hungarian people, but it only helped to create a more interesting scenario.
I think it's worth noting that an Austrian empire without Hungary is more successful in industrializing, as hungarian nobles won't block reforms anymore, which would make them stronger compared to their size (of course their military strength may be weaker or similar as a lot of soldiers are missing). An Austria without Hungarian territories could also mean that the idea of Großdeutschland could succeed, which would lead to an interesting central European superpower (potentially also a big Germany ruled by Habsburgs or at least a common descendent of the Habsburg and Hohenzollern dynasty
Austria also dealt with the 1848 revolutions that wanted to unite Germany so they would have joined Germany as well, especially after losing half of their empire in the east.
I feel like the ottomans would not do anything/ don´t want to do anything as the many minorities in the empire were already very rebbelious. Also great video!
The german 48'ers includes the Deutschösterreicher, in the discussions for a more confederated germany or more centralized the Austrian delegations prefered loose confederation. In saying that the german states would retain a lot of autonomy you would probably have to add austria, along with bohemia and moravia to the german confederation
Then 1848 would basically mark the collapse of medieval Europe as modern civilization comes to replace it, much like how the fragile system of the Roman Republic was replaced with the more stable system of the Roman Empire.
Great video. You forgot that there was a republican revolution in Vienna as well, so if every revolution succeded Austria would have became a republic and joined to Germany. Maybe also Bohemia but not sure about that.
I think that the Italians would've asked for some cities in the Adriatic in terms of awardings for their involvement in this Balkan war, together with a struggle with France and Greece over the overlordship on Albania
Aaaah complex to say Italy would want to, but France in particular as traditional great power would likely win the ensuring conflict over Albania, especially so soon after sudden unification
Posen gaining autonomy under Prussia seems far more likely, and the Ottomans were partitioned way too hard while the Russians didnt even try to take advantage of that? Balance of power politics are still a major factor here to boot, at most the Ottomans go to something resembling the aftermath of the Russo-Turkish war, with Greece and Russia gaining a bit more border territories on top.
but you forget the 2 Italian cities Trento and Trieste after the rebellion and you get Trento, Trieste and maybe Caporetto would most likely not stay neutral in all 2 world wars (maybe)
Also it always feels like every alt timeline is the ottomans lose Constantinople earlier, realistic, but the irony of it all is that Constantinople is supposed to be extremely defensible
note that the sicilian rebellion was made by the brithis since they wanted to annex it , and the ''sicilian'' state was higly unstable this is why the borbouns reconquerd it . its a native sicilian here speaking from palermo
@@rewriting-history glad that someone is willing to listen all sides of history. May as well add that the savoyans had set up lagers in north central italy to deal with the borboun army that was still loyal to the old king and that before "uniting" the savoyans had hight dept problem that led them to invade the two sicilies that was the richest state in pre-unitary italy, they pillaged the south killing and destroying many villages and civilians ( including r*pe ) , basicaly turning two sicilies from the strongest in the region to just be a colony , you mat ask your self how did it hapend? The two sicilies had a SUPER hight corruption in the army that made it basicaly nothing. Garibaldi then that guy he is hated here in sicily and south italy since its his fault that all of this happened because in the past the mafia was a state controled way of land lords that was made to protect the high vineyard in sicily , one important was of henry of orleans that had lots of land in the partinico zone. Still i dont want to take all of your day but if your willing to have more information about the history of the two sicilies ask me since sources in english are basicaly impossible to find
@@rewriting-historyhoy i did more reseach i mixxed up some information The rebellion was supported by the brithis but not to directly annex it , i later read that it was because the bourbons annexed the crown of sicily to The crow of naples (Creating the two sicilies) after the napoleonic wars by gifting malta to britan, making us sicilians realy angry towards them that why we rebbeled Many times First agaisnt the bourbons and later against savoy and The Garibaldinis that lied to us ,, sorry for my mistake 😓
during the coalition against ottomans italy would have probably annexed dalmatia since its among the irredentists lands. also because they wanted to free all the sunjucated people and italian dalmatians were among them.

In an alternate timeline where all the Revolutions of 1848 succeeded, the landscape of Europe and the wider world would be dramatically different. Here's a detailed speculative timeline:
**1848 - The Year of Victorious Revolutions:**
- Across Europe, the people's demands for liberal constitutions, national unification, and social reforms are met with success.
- Monarchies concede to the formation of constitutional governments, and a wave of democratic fervor sweeps the continent.
**1850s - A Decade of Reform and Unification:**
- The German states unify into a single democratic nation, becoming a leading power in Europe.
- Italy also unifies, and with the support of its people, it becomes a hub of cultural and economic progress.
- The Habsburg Empire is restructured into a federation of equal nations, each with its own constitution.
**1860s - Industrial Expansion and Social Change:**
- With political barriers removed, a surge in industrial development begins, bolstered by the free movement of people and goods.
- Workers' rights are advanced, leading to the establishment of the eight-hour workday and the end of child labor.
**1870s - The Rise of International Cooperation:**
- The success of democracy in Europe encourages the formation of an international body to promote peace and cooperation.
- Colonized nations in Asia and Africa begin to push for independence, inspired by the European revolutions.
**1880s - A New World Order:**
- The international body evolves into a proto-United Nations, mediating disputes and fostering global collaboration.
- Scientific and cultural exchanges increase, leading to breakthroughs in medicine, science, and the arts.
**1890s - The Dawn of a Progressive Era:**
- Social welfare systems are established, providing universal healthcare and education.
- Women's suffrage is achieved worldwide, marking a significant step towards gender equality.
**1900s - The Century of Peace:**
- With the mechanisms for peaceful conflict resolution in place, the world avoids the catastrophic wars of the 20th century.
- The focus turns to environmental conservation, and significant efforts are made to combat climate change.
**1910s - Technological Revolution:**
- Technological advancements accelerate, with the invention of the internet coming decades earlier.
- Space exploration begins in earnest, and by the mid-20th century, humans land on Mars.
**1920s - A Global Community:**
- The concept of nation-states begins to fade, replaced by a global identity and citizenship.
- The world's languages blend into a universal tongue, facilitating even greater understanding and unity among people.
**1930s - Utopia or Dystopia?**
- The rapid changes bring about a philosophical debate: has utopia been achieved, or has humanity lost something vital in its quest for perfection?
- A movement to preserve cultural heritage and diversity gains momentum, balancing the global identity with local traditions.
This speculative timeline imagines a world transformed by the success of the Revolutions of 1848, leading to a more united and peaceful global society. However, it's important to remember that history is complex, and such sweeping changes would bring their own set of challenges and unintended consequences.

Video Idea: What if Chiang Kai Shek was assassinated during the Xi'an Incident?
4:17 thats how the german empire worked irl
1848 video being 18:48 minutes is amazing
suggestion: what if Novgorod united Russia instead of Muscovy
eu4 lore!!!!!!
The german 48'ers includes the Deutschösterreicher, in the discussions for a more confederated germany or more centralized the Austrian delegations prefered loose confederation. In saying that the german states would retain a lot of autonomy you would probably have to add austria, along with bohemia and moravia to the german confederation
how coincidential that the vid lasts exactly 18 minutes and 48 secs lol
When you spend 1 hour trying to make it exactly 18:48 and people call it coincidential... :D jk
I like how video is 18:48 minutes long
I'm glad somebody noticed!
Then 1848 would basically mark the collapse of medieval Europe as modern civilization comes to replace it, much like how the fragile system of the Roman Republic was replaced with the more stable system of the Roman Empire.
3:29 bro went from 1848 to the day when ironland conquered ireland
Great video. You forgot that there was a republican revolution in Vienna as well, so if every revolution succeded Austria would have became a republic and joined to Germany. Maybe also Bohemia but not sure about that.
- "what if all revolutions succeeded"
- Poland still not free
16:04 Maybe greece might have a corridor so Thessaloniki is connected to the rest of the country
cool, the video is exactly 18 minutes and 48 seconds long, cool coincidence
Not a coincidence, I worked hard to hit that mark
I think that the Italians would've asked for some cities in the Adriatic in terms of awardings for their involvement in this Balkan war, together with a struggle with France and Greece over the overlordship on Albania
Aaaah complex to say Italy would want to, but France in particular as traditional great power would likely win the ensuring conflict over Albania, especially so soon after sudden unification
Video Idea: What if Serbia and Bulgaria united after Serbian victory at Battle of Velbazhd 1330
6:41 it would be easier to unite with the bourbon sicily tbh
It wasn't Austria who ruled other nations, it was the Hapsburgs, the power behind the throne.
but you forget the 2 Italian cities Trento and Trieste after the rebellion and you get Trento, Trieste and maybe Caporetto would most likely not stay neutral in all 2 world wars (maybe)
Also it always feels like every alt timeline is the ottomans lose Constantinople earlier, realistic, but the irony of it all is that Constantinople is supposed to be extremely defensible
I assume they would lose it in a peace treaty and not during war
Lore of What if ALL Revolutions of 1848 Succeeded? Momentum 100
After these vids i think theres no senario that will save the ottomans in 19th century
note that the sicilian rebellion was made by the brithis since they wanted to annex it , and the ''sicilian'' state was higly unstable this is why the borbouns reconquerd it . its a native sicilian here speaking from palermo
Thank you for the information, such things I cannot read online and learn only from my community. Thank you for teaching me!
Can you do what if England won the 100 years war PLEASE
I can poll it again and see if the people would vote for it
Here is a cursed idea, Denmark forming Germany
I already did that in all endings Germany
16:00 Bulgaria getting all the lands there is just stupid considering the bulgars were just an uprusing here
Glory to Austria-Bohemia 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Based
Thank you... Croatian Kingdom ( borders ) from 925 ( and earlier as a duchy ) to 1853+
Sardinia Piedmont Only joined the Crimean war to get support for unification Efforts so I don’t think Italy would join
They wanted to gain the favour of France, which still could happen
>ALL Revolutions of 1848 Succeeded
>Galicia is somehow fully polish
It's funny how the video is 18:48 long lol
I tried my best to make it this way!
Why are the balkans peacefull? That litteraly impossible
during the coalition against ottomans italy would have probably annexed dalmatia since its among the irredentists lands. also because they wanted to free all the sunjucated people and italian dalmatians were among them.
Here's an idea: What if Czechoslovakia had gotten togo?
(No seriously it's actually a real concept)
You are wrong for one. If 1848 revolution succeeded eastern galicia (Ukrainian Part) would be as independent state and not under poland
As the requester of this scenario.
WHY DID IT TAKE YOU 7 MONTHS TO MAKE THIS KSJFKDKCJFK
unhistorical paradox games in a nutshell
Nothing to do with it, just the video's narrative
Constantinople might be international
