Came here bc looking at the Relay which reviewers keep saying rides a lot like the Spire. Great review. I wish they had it in your build, but at least they have a build with TRP brakes. Jot as concerned about SRAM drivetrain since it has a motor. I’m 5’10” on a Santa Cruz Bronson V3 XL with a 485 reach- I sized up bc I wanted it to lean more all mountain/ enduro and bike park than trail, and I love the extra length in that kind of terrain. Put some shorter cranks and a 35 mm stem with a 30 mm riser bar and fits like a charm. Like you say, can def get used to longer bike on slower stuff and on steeps and at speed it rips. Cheers. 🤙
Would you recommend this bike for say, going off a moderate sized drop with a landing that’s less steep than you originally judged without then going OTB?
Hi. Really enjoyed the video. I’m looking to upgrade from my Giant Trance X 29er. I love my Giant but am looking for something with a little lore travel. I was thinking about the Spire or the Patrol. Just wondering if you’ve got any suggestions.
I think the Spire would be a great option for a bit more travel. As far as verse the Patrol, it kinda depends on your height, the terrain, and how you like to ride. If you like the dual 29er then it’s hard to argue against.
I have a wreckoning now, which is really a quiver killer in my book for big pedals and the travel to go about anywhere. But I was always a fan of my 2 sentinels prior to the evil so now looking to get back into a transition but opting for the burlier spire. What’s overall comparison compared to wreckoning for reference?
I'd agree with that, my V2 is still my favorite dual 29 enduro bike. The Spire climbs better and the slacker head angle and longer wheelbase make for a very calm and stable bike. Larger jumps and moves where you just need to hold on are definitely a strong suit. The Evil is more nimble and jumps with ease. I think its a bit more fun on mellower trails and overall the suspension tracks smoother and has a ton of control.
@@NICADV thanks for the reply! I'm coming off a '16 Transition Patrol, which seemed a little more comparable in numbers to the M Spire. I also talked to guy at Transition and his feed helped me go with a M as I'm on the east coast and will be more flat and techy climbs than I will be racing DH lines. Hopefully I don't regret the M lol.
@brycerenkiewicz1821 I'm 5'10" and 5'11" on a good day lol I am looking at getting the spire. I'm thinking medium ad that's what my giant trance x is. How is your medium? If you have got it yet?
Since you're the same height as I am. Could you tell me how high your saddle is? You said you've mounted a 210 dropper. I have a 213mm dropper and wonder, if that would even fit.
Have you ridden the Pivot Firebird and if so which did you prefer? I have the Transition Relay and love it but want a new non-eBike to replace and old Stumpjumper. Thanks!
I have not ridden the current Firebird but have ridden the current Switchblade. If you like the suspension feel of the Relay it is generally more plush feeling especially under power than DW link Pivots I have ridden.
I've had both the Firebird and the Spire. The Firebird was the better climber/all-rounder; the Spire better at speed. Ended up selling the Firebird, because the Spire was just more fun.
@@matthewferrier9675hi Im 180 cm with short legs and i ride firebird 2023 size M and fit well I want move to spire carbone size M too Do u think its too short ? I want à playful bike more race bike
I rode it in Whistler full 29 and it was great! As a mullet the BB will be very low even in the high position. I'd probably recommend going with the Patrol and you can easily bump the travel to 170 front and rear.
I would definitely recommend XL. You could make it work either way, but especially at your height and weight the longer seat tube and taller head tube will be nice.
Fellow Spire rider here. Nice review, and great ability on the bike. Love my Spire. Surprisingly adept at many things, despite the overall size.
Thanks!

Thanks and yes, it’s definitely nice to see the TRP brakes and nicer suspension on the PNW builds.
Great review and sensational sends. Subbed!
Thanks, I'm always trying to find some good sends!
Great review!!
Thanks!
As always! Good review!
Thanks dude, see you out on the trails!
i can buy this bike today but i wanna have a way bigger safety net so i'll wait until the of spring 2025
@@allenkvextreme nothing wrong with that, but if you’re a medium or large keep an eye on the website

For sure, the slack head angle helps 😉
I prefer a headtube angle that works hard

Yeah buddy. Nice riding.

What stem length did you have on the spire?

Fellow 5’11” here. Would you recommend sizing down to a M or sticking with the L?
Probably a large but it depends a bit on what you want from the bike or what your current bike looks like.

I do, with the steeper seat tube your weight is more centered and over the front wheel
