Yeti SB140 Lunch Ride Review (the one you should get?)
In this video I ride and review the Yeti SB140 Lunch Ride. We are in Golden Colorado to put the Yeti to work on its home trails. How does the Yeti SB140 climb, how does it descend, and is it the right bike for you? What's new with SB140 and how does it compare to similar bikes like the Transition Sentinel, Santa Cruz Bronson, and Forbidden Druid. The loam library tries to quantify those and more trail and all mountain bikes.

Sweet color! Great review! 🙌🏻
How does it compare to the fuel ex gen 6? Was set on buying one but now I’ve found a decent deal on this yeti c3 build, going to try demo one next week but don’t have a demo on a trek.
I think overall the Trek has a few things that are better as highlighted in the Loam Library, but most the gains are marginal. The one thing that isn't is you can easily run the Trek with mixed wheels. The finish on the Yeti is better, but the build kits are similar value.
You're killing it dude. I have this bike and I was interested in what you thought. I have demoed a few other bikes and can't find a reason to switch. I am demoing the newest version of the Pivot Switchblade tomorrow so that might be a good one for you to review. That or the Firebird due to your local trails.
Thanks, yeah I really liked it and couldn't find much to complain about. It was also really quiet. I may have to take a trip to AZ when I'm tired of the rain.
Sw$$t bike. @PinkBike just roasted the Rocky Instinct and the Ibis Ripmo. I don't get it. Both bikes have been getting great reviews for 3+ years... and they got worse? I would like to see a review from you on those 2 bikes. PinkBike sucks anyways.
643 stack with all those stem spacers?!
@@frontrangemtb1441 oh yeah, 30mm including the bearing cap. It is still just below my Nomad and works really well with the new geo and the trails I ride most.
Great spot bro good job 👍👍
Thanks, a real good time!
Looks like dreadnougth colors
@@urielgonzalez9916 yeah, he’s has the new Forbidden Dreadnought. I may have him do a guest review, what do you think?
@ it would be great
How does it do on technical climbs?
It does well on technical climbs very similar to the Stumpjumper evo but the added weight can make things bounce more on steps and climbs where your weight is shifting forward and back. Also like most ebikes if you stop pedaling things do tend to stall out. Momentum is your friend. It's not as bad as full power ebikes but if worth turning down the power and shifting into an easier gear so you don't find yourself straining if your lose momentum.
Hey! Any chance you can compare this bike to stumpy evo when it comes to climbing? Thinking about upgrading but do quiet a bit of pedaling, so just trying to see how nomad compares to my current bike. All the trails are very steep and chunky, hence debating getting the nomad, more travel and mx
@@In_dependent climbing wise I prefer the Nomad. The body position is a bit more centered. I’ve ridden the Evo mostly in the slackest setting and found my weight kinda far back and the front floating a bit. The platform is also firmer and doesn’t wallow when climbing steps. Altogether it is longer and heavier so that hurts it a bit around switchbacks and maybe on long days. I think it’s well worth the trade off.
Awesome review and great to see your channel growing … I loved your sentinel v2 video so much I got one lol… very happy with it but wonder why it got a 3 for a score on chunk? Keep ripping !
The back end flexed a bit more than I would have liked especially at high speed in rocks and hard compressions. It had a tendency of feeling really confident and stable at speed until things got rowdy.
Hell yea Nick !

I spent 3500 euros on the 130/140mm Stumpy Expert a year and a half ago. 😁 Best bang for the buck ever! I spent another 550 euros for Carbon Elite wheels (Pro36) at 1450 grams last spring. And now, all of a sudden, the new Expert 15 is supposedly worth 8000 euros. 😅 Riiiiight. 😊 Cheers from Switzerland
Yup! These prices need to settle down and I don't think that bike changed enough to warrant an upgrade.
Do you think if you bought your own one of these you would go with the medium/large? I'm 5'10" and looking seriously at getting one of these.
I rode a ML in the previous gen, but with all the updates to geometry and some of the bikes I've ridden since I would go large. I didn't have any trouble getting the 200mm seat post low enough and it really didn't feel as big as some of the numbers would suggest.
@@NICADV yeah ok, I probably need to ride both sizes again to make a good decision. I have ridden the large and it was long for sure
@@allywood96 What is your saddle height? I'm at 74cm center bb to top middle of the saddle and I't seemed bottomed out with the stock seat post.

Great review and footage! Trying to decide whether to get a heavily discounted nomad cc mx frame or getting the Bronson c v6 and using my parts. What would you chose? Would you run a 170mm 38 on the Bronson? Thank
I would go Nomad, especially if you're going to put a 170 38 up front you might as well have the frame to back it up. While the Bronson climbs marginally better it doesn't feel more agile on the downhill and the Nomad definitely feels more confident and stout when you push its limits.
Part mountain Goat??
Where is this? It looks like Virginia canyon but I don’t remember a techy trail like that
It is Apex, on the front side climb either Argos or Pick n' Sledge
@@NICADV ahh. Guess I didn’t explore that one then
Looks so fun.

@@DesertBros it wasn’t bad, the rock is super grippy
Where is this? See you've been in Co lately
@@Calshreds yup, Colorado just north of Boulder
@NICADV lefthand?
I am thinking of getting one should you say ITS worth IT?
@@familieebeling3862 I think so, it’s still one of the best dual 29 enduro bikes on the market. It does lean playful and agile compared to some newer enduro bikes, but that’s my preference
@@NICADV Thank you❤
I remember the Tallboy feeling very twitchy to me when I demo'd one
@@pt.mtb2389 I really depends on what you’re comparing it to but this version has pretty neutral trails manners. It’s not a Hightower or Fuel EX but it’s much more stable than a blur or top fuel.
@@NICADV Main comparisons were an old insurgent and newer longer travel trail/shorter travel enduro rigs...Had the evil in the higher position as well, but it also could've been the tires. I just felt like I couldn't lean those dissectors, personally. It just felt like it wanted to wash out all day
@@pt.mtb2389 definitely could have been the tires but also the big wheels take an entirely different technic than something like that Insurgent. That is one reason I had the 5010 as my long term bike rather than a dual 29er.
Looking at this for a new bike, I’m a little shorter at 5”10 178cms. Do you think I’d be find the m/l to be a good size. I’m downsizing as the bike I’m on now is 490mm reach and feels way too big and don’t want to do it again lol
@@jackford1841 yes, the ML should be a good size. 490 is pretty big, what’s your saddle height?
@ from middle of BB to seat fully up is 720mm ish
@@jackford1841 then it should fit well. Trek has serious deals on the XTR bikes: alnk.to/6TALkcd
Wouldn’t a longer dropper fix your seat post issue? I just went on my first ride and noticed the seat was on the way on the descends, once I lowered it the issue went away. I’m swapping for a longer dropper and it should be fine.
No, the seat tube is 10mm longer than the competition and doesn't allow for full insertion of the Fox Transfer 200mm dropper.
Siiiick! Such speed, off camber, nice gaps, what a trail! This is coming from someone who has Whistler bike park at their disposal.
They are doing some good work in Colorado!
hey Nic! Sick review! I would love so so much if you could get a Raaw madonna in for review and compare it to the commencal meta sx v5 and similar bikes. I think you would love it so much :)
I agree, those bike look really cool. I haven't reached out but I"ll start looking into who to contact.
@@NICADV awesome
That's a cool step up
Do you like the Dissector as a front tire? I haven't been super impressed with it as a rear tire versus the DHR. I read an article a few months ago about a SCOR 2030 that shipped Dissector front/Rekon rear, and the author swapped the front for a DHF, which he said hugely improved traction. Seth from Berm Peak runs DHF/Rekon on his 130 Ti hardtail. It's a tire combo I have waiting in the wings, but I'm just getting familiar with the DHF right now (running it front and rear on my 160 Chameleon 7), and it ate up the Soquel Demonstration Forest.
@@billydeewilliams8909 honestly I like it for going fast and it brakes traction similar to the reckon. However, I’d rather run dual dhr II for the better balance of speed and traction. I hate the feeling of the backend just skidding about.
What a great review you presented. I trust your opinion because you are an advanced rider experienced rider. Am definitely considering in buying one. I have the 2022 Slash aluminium and it rips on hard fast trails. I can only imagine what this generation can do.

@@MTBCoop 🤘for sure, what’s your first ride going to be?
Hi, will it be ok if i put a 150mm fork on it?
@@SilverlanceMTB I know many people have but I do not think Santa Cruz recommends it. For me the stiffer 36mm fork made all the difference.
@NICADV well noted thanks for the information bro.
the only tallboys I like are the drinkable type. Jk would love to try this bike
@@DandyHippo 🍻
I loved my Tallboy. I liked the Ripley a little better though. Great review man.
@@nicholashines7686 thanks, that’s how I feel about the 5010. Are you on the new Ripley?
I rode a v2 sentinel for all of this year and had the same feeling as you in the chunk...it just isn't a very good tracking bike (even with the cascade link). I came from riding a Capra for years and also felt the sentinel didn't handle big hits well (you could feel the support through the entire stroke on the Capra, but the Sentinel blew through the travel and felt like a wall at the end). Picked up a spire last week, swapped all the components over from the Sentinel, but haven't gotten to ride with it yet! It looks like we ride similar sized features so I'm pretty excited to try it out, it is surprising easy to bunnyhop despite the softer shock and weighing 36.2 lbs (alloy). Nice review and riding!
Thanks, I hope you have fun with the Sprie. It was definitely a good upgrade for me.
How far off is this thing from riding like the Nomad v6? Currently have a Nomad v6 for park/enduro and a Bronson V4 for riding less aggressive trails. Wondering if the Bronson v5 would split the difference and do both well. Appreciate your thoughts.
Not too far, It is certainly more burly and capable than the V4. The 38 on the Nomad is probably what makes it so sure footed in the gnar. However while the new suspension loves high speed chunder it is a bit muted on mellower terrain and requires more effort to get going and off the ground.
sick!

Spent a good amount of time working on this line over summer. Still have not made it all the way 😅 but it’s something to work toward next year
For sure, finally completed it last summer. It was 1st attempts back then so definitely slow going. I was stoked how fast Pfo and Griff got through the line. If the weather continues this way, we maybe able to get the whole group down the line.
I’m on the fence with the pressed BB, very nice bike though
Yeah, I've had fine luck with these BBs but definitely reduced longevity.
