8:16 the "why does everything smell like copper" joke is a reference to his cholesterol already disrupting the blood flow to the brain. Phantosmia, or phantom smells that aren't there, are a symptom associated with strokes and cardiac illnesses

@@christopherlitzner8445 nah, even going on they made multiple jokes about his symptoms, this was just the mode subtle one
my take: Goku tried to understand temporal paradoxes and ended up having a mini-stroke
I assumed goku was thinking too hard about time travel and gave himself an aneurysm and the blood was giving him the smell of copper.

The best part about the Trunks x Goku bit is that it shows how easily Goku would have ripped Frieza and Cold a new one had he shown up earlier. Trunks didn't even have to try, and Goku was blocking his sword like it was toy.

The thing about Goku’s teleport is that he has to lock and focus on someone’s ki or energy that’s the only way he can teleport he can’t just randomly appear in front of the Kame House
I mean he _can_ randomly appear in front of Kame House because there's usually someone there to lock onto, but he can't teleport somewhere randomly without any lifeforms.

oh god
Goku's instant transmission requires him to lock on to an energy signature as a target and then he can teleport to it. Here they just refer to it as teleportation. And yes they did show how Goku and Chichi met in OG DB
She tricked him. She said lets marry and he asked if there was food. She said yes so he said yes. He had zero clue what marriage is.

@@fjparasite1172 Well she thought he wanted to marry her but when fighting in the tournament Goku said he thought wedding was food and then she was sad cause it was a misunderstanding and then Goku said "Let's get married". So she didn't trick him, silly
10:20 In the anime Goku explains that he trained on Planet Yardrat to learn the "Instant Transmission" or as TFS calls it he learned how to teleport. But essentially Goku demonstrates it the same way here.
TFS calling it teleportation is actually more accurate as the original dub explained it as dematerialising your self travelling at light speed and then rematerialising your self
13:39 Well the filler arc happened differently because Goku and Piccolo were learning to drive because Chi-Chi was mad that Goku and Piccolo could not drive a car.
Yep. Chi Chi just annoys me. I mean she knew he wasnt that smart she knew he was a fighter yet she still pursued him and married him then suddenly he needed to get a normal job stop defending the planet and be Normal....

I Like how trunks called him sun wukong, because original dragon Ball took inspirations from the journey of the West which had The monkey King who was known as sun wukong, I believe in Japanese he's known as son Goku.
Hanuman
Yeah, Sun Wukong (Chinese), Son Goku, (Japanese) and Hanuman (Thai) is a Buddhist/Hindu Monkey God. The entire Original Dragon Ball is just a re telling of the Journey to the west. Krillin being the monk, Piccolo the evil King, Roshi being the Hermit and Chi Chi the Chinese Princess.
That fact this episode air in time for pride month and Vegeta is wearing the flag makes this more hilarious
Goku's "teleportation" aka instant transmission, only works if he can sense the energy of people where he wants to go
In the scene showing Yamcha's body, originally Puar was going to ask "Yamcha, can I stop being the rope?" but TFS cut it out. I think they confirmed it in one of their streams.
so it was darker
😨😱
I like how Vegeta's Trunks was showing when he was reasoning with himself in his head, "Just take the complement" lol
He can teleport anywhere where he can sense a ki signature. So he can't instant transmission to anywhere, but to a location with recognizable ki
Goku's Instant Transmission works like this: He can teleport to any ki signature that he recognizes. Essentially, he can teleport next to any living being he's ever met as long as he's able to feel their ki.
And it has a range, the stronger the ki, the further away he can sense it
basically he has FLY from Pokemon, he can only travel to places he's been before, just like using FLY out of battle in Pokemon.
Yeah
How did he go to new namek for dende if he never met dende or the other namekians
@@tiffanywren9227 he went to king Kai and asked him to point him to where he should look for Namekian life signatures and then he concentrated on that direction then poofed over and back
8:20 everything smells like copper because Goku just had a brain aneurysm thinking about the paradox of time travel.... Also time travel isn't just one thing, there are different types and what Goku was explaining was "one world" theory and the other type of time travel is parallel worlds. In one the conversation wouldn't happen if you messed with the timeline in the other it would still happen because thats not "this worlds" Trunks.
Lucky for Trunks that they aren't in a One World setting, since by going back in time to change the future would have erased him. As for the paradox itself, I have no idea how that can be resolved in a satisfying way that doesn't just brake an established rule to do so.
piccolo laughing was at the comment that trunks made. piccolo can hear pretty much every conversation in dbz.
Unless he rips his ear lobes off, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but hey it made for an alright joke.
Basically this is a description of Chiaotzu
Chiaotzu's design is based on the Chinese hopping vampire, known as Jiangshi or Geung-Si depending on the dialect.
But he is considered a human by dragonball lore
“That music is so beautiful” it’s from Doctor Who 😄
As for Goku teleporting, he can’t just go anywhere, he needs a ki signal to lock on to.

Actually chiaotzu has his appearence based on the chinese "hopping vampire" known as jiangsi. Most of the OG dragon ball cast are based on chinese folklore or characters from journey to the west, this is why Trunks called goku "sun wukong". Sun Wukong is from the Chinese Novel Journey to the West. In japanese they changed the Name to Son Goku which I believe has the same meaning. OG Dragonball is pretty much based off of the Novel.
Not exactly changed, it's how the kanji are read in Japanese.
Goku’s Teleportation Technique, also known as Instant Transmission(the actual name), allows him to “instantly” transport himself to another location as long as he can sense and locate an energy source(not electricity or anything, it’s just ki).
By the way he can travel VERY FAST with it but that doesn’t mean it’s instantaneous(the amount of time it takes depends on how far the location is)
It’s at this point that Tien becomes the best character in the show
The driving cars was a filler episode in DBZ. Goku and Piccolo are just chilling around and training and Chi Chi sends them off to get their driver's license.
while the english dub calls it "instant transmission", in DBZA they stay closer the the original japanese name which translates to just "teleportation". Goku needs an anchor point, someone's ki, that he can detect to go there. So he can't teleport to where there are no living beings or if the ki signatures are so small and far away that he can't detect them.
@@secoTheSonicFan Most anime fans are socially isolated and don't know actual Japanese. Toei themselves did not know instant transmission was supposed to be instant. As seen in the Return of Cooler movie.
Toei identified the naming and only acknowledged that Goku travels a far distance in a short period. So, Goku was seen traveling to that distant planet at a high speed instead of teleporting. Even they were unsure
@@secoTheSonicFan I didn't even say instantaneous transmission is incorrect, it has some ambiguity that doesn't fit (transmission can be interpreted in different ways) but it's quite good and sounds cool for english.
An instantaneous movement is a teleport, usually localizers will translate it to teleport because it's shorter than instantaneous movement, has no ambiguity, gets the meaning across and is usually used in japanese for teleports when they don't wanna use terepoto in katakana for the name, that one is usually used for when it's like a magic or psychic power teleport.
Teleport is closer to the original just because it's exactly the intended meaning of the author, but it doesn't mean instant transmission is wrong or bad, it's just leaves a bit more for interpretation.
The story behind Goku and Chichi pairing up is complex. As in, Goku didn't know what girls were unless he "check for equipment." And Chichi, being a sheltered idiot, took Goku's actions as sign of him being "the one" and asked him to marry her. He agree to, not understanding what marriage meant.
Flash-forward 5-6 years, Chichi tracks Goku down to the 23th World Fighting Tournament, reminds him about the promise he made, and he agree to officially marry her after the tournament because "a promise is a promise"
So yeah, it's a better love story than Twilight, but not by much.
Also she accuses videl of doing that to gohan and videl is shocked at what crazy train of though a woman like that has... XD
They indeed showed how Goku and Chichi met and how they got together in Dragon Ball. She was sweet and adorable when they met a few times when they were 12, then later on when they met again at 18 she was angry at him like you know her as now (somewhat understandably so), then she went back to being sweet after they got engaged...then in Z it's like her default emotion is angry. Chichi's character is a walking emotional whiplash thoughout dragonball and early Z
I will disagree on the sweet and adorable as she was boy crazy, tried to get engaged with Goky immediately without knowing him, just threw her ax on her head at people without thinking or being aware, and married a boy who did not know who marriage was. The only time I liked her was when she tried to get revenge on Goku for never returning and fought him. She was cool only the.
@@Alphasnowbordergirl i don't see what any of those have got to do with being sweet amd adorable. That's more being naive or not being mature/smart. She was still sweet and adorable regardless
Who told this man that Chiatzu is a puppet?
A FUNimation dub fan
Goku and Chi Chi go way back! OG Dragonball has their entire history, from their meeting up to their wedding!
Love this reaction series! Thanks for doing these!
The way he meets her evolves into him thinking marriage is some kind of food, so he agrees to it.
lol shush you, let him see for himself. XD OGDB is worth watching.
They called them androids in the dub which is weird because by the definition they aren't androids they're cyborgs. In the Japanese they call them 人造人間 (Jinzo Ningen) which literally means "artificial humans." So the fanbase has always been pretty split on what to call them in English.
Goku and Chi Chi met as kids. Chi Chi was instantly smitten and suggested they get married when they get older. Goku, thinking 'marriage' is a kind of food, agreed to this. And then when they met again years later, Goku just kind of agreed to get married.
This is the time when Tien becomes savage lol
Watch “ goku proposes to chichi” jack if you want to know how they got married and it shows a flashback with them as kids also. Note you might be shock at how goku proposed to her
Chi chi is shown meeting Goku and how she gets him to promise to marry her and sets up one of my favorite dbza jokes from Vegeta response to trunks about protecting his wife and child
The delivery of the line at the end😂😂😂😂 Hats off my friend
No, chiaotzu is a pokemon. In OG dragon ball they do show how goku and chi-chi meet and its really good.
Goku literally gives the cutest proposal on Earth near the end of OG Dragon Ball. You should totally watch it. It's pretty short and has some of the best fight choreography in the franchise.
Learning to drive is chi-chi’s fault lol
17:30 Fun fact, Kaiserneko---voice of Abridged Trunks and general vocal director for the series---has gone on record saying that having to direct Bulma's voice actress---Megami33---for this scene was one of the most horrifically awkward experiences of his life, as she's basically like a sister to him.
The whole "androids" thing is bit "lost in translation" situation. Although 17, 18 and 20 are rather cyborgs they comes from originally line of androids. On top of that "Android" was loose and somewhat simplified translation to begin with. In japanese it is rather artificial human, which can be taken as android, but doesn´t need to.
In the french translation, their names are actually C-17, C-18 etc. . . The "C" stands for "Cyborg".

Goku knows how to teleport because he learned that technice in yardrat from the people. He can't teleport anywhere though, he Has to sense the Power Level of a person to go to that Place
To boild down everything: ChiChi and Goku met because she was looking for Roshi to find a magical fan that would put out the fire at her father's castle. Goku slapped ChiChi on the front of her pelvis to check if she was a girl and ChiChi litterally said "he touched me there, now we have to marry".

@@OriGuyOriginal I Was more referring to the last line.
The music that plays when Trunks leaves as well as the sound the time machine makes is from a show called Doctor Who. Also yes, Instint Transmission is OP because you teleport at the speed of light. All Goku has to do is lock on to someone's energy signature if it's strong enough and he can go right to them.
Also in the previous video Freeza says Exterminate like a Dalek from doctor who.
Instant transmission is actually instant, so it's even more OP
As Tibor said, it's instant. The technique lets him move faster than Whis can, only with the established conditions to use it.
Goku accidentally started talking about the Grandfather Paradox so he almost had a stroke. Sometimes, when people have a stroke, they've reported that they smell toasted bread or copper moments before it happens, because the signals of their brain get scrambled and their nose gets tricked first, for some reason
"But you said you add protection !"
"I WAS WEARING MY ARMOR !!"
In an interview with Lani and Kaiser (creators of DBZA) they said they were gonna make the Yamcha joke darker by having Puar say "Yamcha, I don't wanna be the rope anymore..."
They're called androids in the dub so they're androids
It's funny how people like to still call them cyborgs when every single game and movie and series call them androids
I'm pretty sure that until TFS made a big joke out of it, very few of the fandom knew or even cared.
I can recall a few conversations where the misnomer got brought up and I got harshly shutdown because they're "officially called Androids" so that's what they are. I can't help but feel it's those exact types of people that now get irate over people calling 17 and 18 androids instead of cyborgs.
I watched Dragon Ball Z first, we didnt have Dragon Ball in England until after DBZ finished. After watching DB, I loved it more than DBZ; even though my favourite characters were Gohan, Vegeta, and Piccolo. 2 of them not in DB. Great series. Still likely my favourite anime.
Pretty sure Goku’s “Why does it smell like copper?” Is because he was talking himself through time travel shenanigans and was about to have a stroke.
You're not anywhere near Cell just yet, but when you do get there, hoo boy. Your neck hair is gonna stand on end. It's terrifyingly good.
There's a reason why I consider Cell to be the best DBZA villian. Bar none.
The presentation, the voice acting, the music, the EVERYTHING. You're gonna love it. Takahata101 did a PERFECT job as cell, from first form to Perfect.
The Cell Saga is why I hope TFS never brings this series back. Not just because Toei might hit them with a lawsuit, but because I don't know if they'd be able to recreate the magic they made with this 10+ year labor of love.
14:30 the way they met was was by him helping her father put out a fire that was burning his castle. I think they meet up again as kids one more time after that before Goku goes to train with kami for 3 years to fight piccolo in the world tournament. When they meet back up in the tournament Chi-Chi is pissed that he doesn't remember who she is and the 2 end up fighting in the tournament and get married after the match.
the entirety of goku and chichi's relationship in DB basically consists of chichi trying to get goku to marry her, or make him fall in love with her, and goku just being completely oblivious the whole time, not knowing what love or marriage is. kid chichi actually gets kid goku one time to agree to marriage but only because he mistakes it for some kind of food.
Then she gets mad he doesn’t recognize her at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. They fight, he wins, and the rest is history
6:44
There's a deleted scene where Puar then says "Yamcha, can I stop being the noose now? ...Yamcha?"
To be fair, all the androids where call something in Japanese that roughly translates into artificial humans. However it doesn't roll off the tongue in English so they where localized as androids even though some of them where robots and some where originally human. This is honestly a good gag that teases the whole technical thing
Yeah Jinzouningen
Tien never looks happy. Thats Tien for ya.
"I can never read that guy."
that joke at the end got you the like well done sir
14:40, they met in Dragon Ball when they were both kids, then later on fought in the tournament of power against each other. Then they got married.
That’s basically it lol
Wait until the end of the episode. It will blow your mind!
The joke about Goku saying,"Why does everything smell like copper?" was implying that his small brain was beginning to overheat after thinking too much about Trunks' time travel🤣🤣🤣🤣
Chichi and Goku history in og Dragonball is one of the funniest and cutest of the series, you should definetly check it out sometime
One thing i never figured out from this is if the yardrats fed him vomit, or literally fed him sick yardratians
So the way instant transmission works is that the user needs to focus on another person's energy so he can teleport to their location, he can't just teleport wherever he wants he needs to be able to lock onto someone else to get there. Which is why he teleported Cell to King Kai's planet instead of dead space for him to explode in
They do show goku meeting chichi in dragonball cannon. He promises to marry her thinking a bride was a food... in cannon. They also show them reuniting during a martial arts tournament a long time later and he doesn't recognize her, after beating her she finds out he didn't remember he promised to marry her but during some tears he agrees to marry her.
If you want the short clips look up stuff like "goku's friends don't recognize him after 3 years", or "goku proposes chichi".
Fun Fact: a lot of Trunks' music in the TFS version are Doctor Who themes
specifically Murray Gold Music... I do think however it would've been cooler to have Paddy Kingsland, Malcolm Clarke, Dominic Glynn or Roger Limb music from the older generation to add to the darker nature of the arc... I could imagine Trunks leaving in his time machine with a good dash of Paddy Kingsland from Season 18's "Full Circle" in there... but that's just me.
LET'S GOOOO! Your reaction videos on the abridged series are AMAZING ❤️
Waiting for these reactions is almost like when I was kid and would wait for the new episode of a tv show to come out and I love it
Papa blessed. Seeing this made my day a lot better!
The sex scenes in this series are TFS only(meaning they weren't shown in the anime) at best its not even mentioned how the Bulma and later Chi-Chi gave birth to their children
I think the heart attack from eating habits is a lot more realistic than a heart virus to be honest. It is by far the most reasonable plot change in DBZA
The meeting between goku and chichi was something.
8:33 hilarious part is this is literally actually how it goes down
14:38 - Oh, they show how Goku and Chi Chi meet in OG Dragon Ball. They meet as kids. One of the first things you see her do is cut a dinosaur's head off. I'm dead serious. The original series actually ends with them getting married.
Goku and chi chi met as kids. Chi-chi made Goku promise he would marry her when they grew up, and when they eventually met like 10 years later it was revealed Goku actually thought marriage was a kind of food. Actually canon. Lmao
Wanna know how Chi-Chi and Goku first met and why they got married? When they were both little, Chi-Chi was so impressed with Goku's ass-kicking that she started crushing on him and asked if he wanted to get married. Goku assumed "married" was some kind of food, and agreed. I would add something else that happened when they got older, right before the events of Z but I don't wanna spoil any OG Dragonball since it is just SO good.
Android and Cell Saga is where TFS really pick thing up to another level.
Music increases in quality, additional story parts really give some characters some nice extra back story missing from the show.
This is what I have been waitin for, let's goooo
i love your reacts to this, keep them coming 😊
6:45 Congratulations, you’ve just witnessed one of the darkest if not the darkest moment of DBZA.
Yeah they aren't androids. That was a funimation translation fuck up.
Cyborgs are mechanically enhanced humans, androids are completely artificial.
Hence why the mechanical villians in DBZ with the exception of Cell and 16 are referred everywhere else besides the English dub as Cyborg 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19 and 20.
16 however, IS an android.
@@secoTheSonicFan No. It doesn't. Cyborgs are mechanically enhanced HUMAN beings. Androids are ARTIFICIAL. NO humanity or concept of.
Goku's instant transmission requires 2 things usually
A ki to lock on
And a reachable distance to where he can sense
He cant teleport to androids they have no ki
And he cant teleport to people with weak power levels (like regular humans) if they are at a pretty far away place, like where the Supreme Kai is
(Example: he would not lock on to mr satan if he needed to from the land of the kais)
I'd recommend Og DragonBall over Z. The story is silly but moves at a decent pace. Its also cool to see the origin of a lot of tropes
And it puts a twist on classic Chinese stories like Journey to the West and the Rabbit on the Moon.
I think the RR arc drags a little, but other than that, it's the best-paced part of the series.
Chichi tricked Goku into promising her that they'd get married despite him not knowing what marriage was (he thought it was a food), then she showed up during a tournament a few years later and got her ass kicked by him. After that they got married and had Gohan.
11:47 You have no idea he's so broken there once was a non cannon crossover special for Naruto One Piece and Dragon ball, which pitted the cast of all three in a battle royal type fight. And in the middle Goku is doing so Mich better he gets a call from king kai that he has to go stop some monster and just dips from the whole thing. Only to come back and maybe win the whole thing the end is up in the air to not upset people.
Chichi and Goku met when they were kids. Goku couldn't tell the difference between boys and girls and the way he would find out is to pat their private area.
Later in the episode after they went on a date on flying nimbus, chichi has him promise to marry her to which goku agrees to thinking it's some kind of food.
