No the first abridged (kinda) series IMO is Ghost Stories (english dub version), it came out first in 2005 meanwhile YGOTAS is in 2006.

That's the part everyone agrees on. Willem DeFoe was a great Ryuk. Everything else was dogshit.

@@ImmortanDan Yeah that's what I meant. The way he's portrayed in the movie is nothing like how he acts in the anime. He's a neutral party and just wanted to see what would happen if a human got their hands on a Death Note as a means of passing the time.
As someone who never watched the anime or read the manga, the Netflix adapt wasn't that bad imo.

Fist of the North Star is so good man. The anime has aged a lil bit, but the manga holds up amazingly. Highly recommend it.
So glad you're doing these. The months of waiting for the Cell Games back then was only bearable because we were getting these. They are all amazing.
*Btw, Willen Dafoe voiced Ryuk in the Death Note movie from Netflix. And it was by far the one thing worth watching in that movie. Cause he's was actually an amazing Ryuk kk*

If you love these, then you'll love devil artemis's cell vs videos. There's so many of them to watch though, it's going to take you a long while to get through them.
you say it's a good concept until you see devil Artemis make an entire channel dedicated to this concept and run it into the ground...but there are some legit hilarious ones

Trust me and watch Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. It's still TFS and honestly funnier than DBZA. It's only ten episodes.

The funny thing is, Cell was using the multiform technique against Sonic, as the captions state. He could've raced Sonic, but he decided ro mess with Sonic.
You would love Yu Yu Hakusho, most of it has aged so well that it stands above a lot of contemporary anime.

Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star is one of the ur examples of the badass martial arts anime. It's a bunch of barrel chested guys with ridiculous powers in post-apocalypse-land, shouting the name of their super-ultra-mega techniques in fights to the death. The blood is toned down in the anime, but Kenshiro (the main character) knows an assassin martial art that's all about pressure points, so he taps you in certain spots and your head explodes or something, and that's not a metaphor; dude blows up heads. It's, like, his go-to move.
Please tell me it won't take like a month to get through these filler shorts 💀
6:30 This is refence to SF3: 3rd strike. It's Ken theme and Ken did his super, but Cell parry each hit. It's main mechanic in SF3 when you can parry literally every attack if this is no yhrow and take no damage

Just in case you didn’t know, Fist of the north star is where “Omae wa mo shinderu” comes from. It translates to “You’re already dead” which is what he was saying so yeah.
the guy from fist of the north star uses pressure point techniques to destroy his enemies from the inside out and make them explode. he is so badass that his pressure point techniques even works on tanks for some reason. its not an anime anymore, its a MANime
btw, there are two versions of Cell vs. Ash Ketchum, one by TFS and one less-canon one featuring the bizarre-ass characters of the Pokémon 'Bridged abridged series. both well worth the watch
When you finish this series you might want to watch Hellsing or SAO abridged next. I'd put both of them on the same level of quality as this series, so you definitely won't regret it.

Also if you're wondering why he always talks about eating things for food, well the world he came from is basically a 'What if the Fallout series happened?' scenario, and food is extremely scarce in the post-apocalyptic world. So starving people are something that you just see on a regular basis in Hokuto no Ken.
Just a reminder the Pharoh was like 19 or 20 when he died so that explains the voice
Fist of the North Star, Raoh the Conqueror is the best antagonist ever. Of all time. One of the bloodiest/gore from the 80's. Dragon Ball took a hard 90° turn from North Star when it started back in the 80's

Fist of the North Star is considered by many to be the grandfather of modern shonen manga and anime. And Kenshiro, the main protagonist, is insanely broken and op. I highly recommend you check it out.

They put Willem Dafoe's face on Ryuk as a reference to him voicing Ryuk for the live-action movie of Death Note on Netflix.
Yu Yu Hakusho is my number 1 anime and has been for 20+ years. Still watch it from time to time and it holds up everytime. Absolute recommendation

Ryuk is Willem Dafoe because Willem Dafoe actually played Ryuk, in the Netflix live action Death Note movie. Probably the only unironically good thing about it.

My only issue is the botched the Power Scaling for YYH, Yusuke is definitely Planetary by the end of the series.
A lowers S Class couldn't even release there full energy without causing earthquakes throughout Japan. An that was before they equipped there armors which is two whole upgrades.
Not to mention the Upper S class power levels are 15 times as powerful, an Yusuke reaches that level.
If you like Abridged Cell's character and think these Cell vs... videos are a gold mine I highly recommend the channel DevilArtemis. He basically does these on a weekly basis, I think he might have actually animated these for TFS because he does their newer stuff right now.

You should react to Death Battle, you’ll get a lot of info on other characters and see just how crazy powerful they are.
Kenshiro is legitimately the only character that showed up that actually COULD kill Cell. Basically, what he does is he hits you with a special technique that only he knows. The rapid attacks that seemingly do nothing to Cell also seemingly do nothing to anyone else.
But it inverts your ki so that any outward attack that you perform is reflected back inwards. Most people explode from this. The fact that Cell exploded at ALL tells me that Kenshiro COULD kill Cell with it if Kenshiro better understood Cell's regeneration.
You should absolutely watch YuYu Hakusho. It was the closest thing to DBZ back in the day before Naruto came out. There are elements of both shows-energy attacks and things dealing with demons and seals and such.
Have fun watching DevilArtemis and Fist of the North Star, both classics

Yeah he should definitely watch Yuyu Hakusho and Fist of the North Star at some point because they are both fire anime. Though thinking about it Fist of the North Star is extremely bloody and have some not so kid friendly scenes.
C'mon we can't forget about the best Cell Vs: Bobby Hill. It's the shortest but easily the best.
If this was movie Sonic, he might have stood a better chance against Cell in terms of speed. He can freeze time and be in multiple places at once as well.
