    The best English book store in terms of selection in Tokyo is Kinokuniya, the branch right next to Takashimaya and above Nitori, south of the Shinjuku station.

    I'm excited about the IDEA of Jimbocho but I know that when I get there I'll realise that it's 99% all Japanese books. And I can't read Japanese unfortunately. If anybody can recommend a really good video which focuses on second hand bookstores and new bookstores in Tokyo that have impressive English language sections I'd be thrilled for the link. So far I've found none, not a single video on UA-cam that focuses on showcasing such shops. But your video here shows how charming the area is and I'll definitely go and have a sticky beak anyhow! :D Thank you.

      I definitely recommend taking time to explore Jimbocho, I think I only gave myself an hour and it was very rushed.

      @@TheNovelNomad Oh, yeah, I did the same thing the first time I went to one of the Retro Showa Museums in Takayama. We had to rush otherwise we'd miss our train out of town, so had less than half an hour in the place. I've since returned to explore it at length and on this visit was rewarded by A NEW Showa Museum not far from the original one! Woah, two of them!. So I'm going to follow your advice and make sure I have plenty of time in the day to explore Jimbocho, just for the ambience and possible hidden gems :D Thank you.

    • @TheNovelNomad
      @TheNovelNomad  Рік тому +1

      Definitely Maruzen in Kyoto had the largest range of English titles.

    Another fab Japan video and especially love the hostel! Are English books much more pricey than in Australia or about the same?

    • @TheNovelNomad
      @TheNovelNomad  6 років тому

      The prices would probably be a little cheaper than Australia, especially for obscure Japanese titles.

      Haha! I was afraid of the same thing as I am a stationery fiend too. But I made a bet with my friend, that I would buy only 5 books (not including any banana yoshimoto titles) and I surprisingly managed to win the bet
