Sorry this video took so long to come out, I didn't even finish my entire list but I figured I'd never visit every single bookstore in Seoul so this short list is good for now :) Hope you've found some new places to explore or, like me, you just enjoy looking at some picturesque bookshelves sometimes lol. Unfortunately I can't read for fun right now as I have an exam coming up. But this got me in such a good mood to read the script.
I also noticed with dread that I haven't been to a mortar and brick bookstore in way too long. I get a lot of my books through online sellers, usually used though. No es bueno. Bookstores are wonderful, little gardens where books live.
All of these bookstores are amazing. Good recommendations 🤗

I love the calm energy your videos give. Seoul Can be such a hectic city, but I also found it very calm in a weird way. I love how you’re able to do that in your videos and have that tranquil “aesthetic” vibe and the weird side with the tractor randomly appearing 💖

Books!! ❤️ My town recently opened a new, beautiful library, and after I explored it for the first time, I wanted to just live there forever among the books. This vlog is giving me those same feelings!
Also, on a nonbook-related note, I absolutely loved that color of lipstick on you in the first half of the vlog. It looked beautiful!
Gah I’m late bc of work but yesss this vlog was a great way to end my night 🥰 And you have so much self control Cari there’s no way I’d be able to go to that first bookstore and not buy anything, I’m so bad at that haha no matter how much I tell myself I already have so many TBR books on my self I always end up buying a new book 😭 Also another side note I really love that beret the color is so pretty!

Oh, wish I could have seen this sooner because I just got back from Seoul! Was just too busy enjoying every moment of it to watch youtube haha. But I'll be back for sure and visit all those awesome shops ^^
Omg why didn't I know that bookstore in Common ground! I used to live right next to children's grand park station. I always discover things late xD Great vlog, next time I'll go to Korea I have a bucket list of bookstores to go through! (I really only knew couple before like Starfield, Kyobo and the one store near Gwanghwamun Kyobo which name I always forget).

Great video! Inspiration for me to do the same here in Beijing. Ofr was one of my favorite librairies (en français) in Paris. Great to know that they're in Seoul now too!

Yes Ofr started in France! The one in Paris is also very good! It’s manly Art/design/ photography books but their also doing some exhibitions and selling vintage clothing :)

That book search booth in one of the first bookstores was the cutest thing I've ever seen!!! Also, I've been interested in reading Lonesome You by Park Wan-Suh for a looong time, so happy to see that you bought it. What about libraries in Seoul? Are there a lot of public libraries or mainly like campus libiaries?
There are some libraries but the English sections are often pretty dismal 😞 but i use the apps libby and overdrive to rent ebooks in korea!!!
Cari, have you ever tried one of Hyundai libraries? Each library has specific themes like travel, music etc. I think there are four in Seoul. I only went to two of them, and they had great collection of books (including english ones) and the places were so beautiful. The library itself is free, but you can only get in if you own hyundai card. If you don't own the card, ask arround if someone has hyundai card, bc members can take a friend to the libraries. I also heard that there's an app that you can use to get in to the libraries, but not sure.

The fact that there are so many cute bookshops in Seoul but South Korea has one of the lowest percentage of readers is so interesting. I think that this is due to the fact that koreans work like crazy so they have no free time (i'm just guessing, I know this culture so little).
