Hi! Just a quick dumb question - Should I leave it in the sRGB mode all the time? Is sRGB the most color accurate/ideal mode to game, watch videos with etc?
Does the ICC profile goes hand in hand with the settings in this video or we are fine with just setting it without the profile? Sorry, i'm new to all of this.
They go together. The OSD settings will get you some way there , but the ICC profile includes further corrections like gamma tweaks, colour accuracy refinement and also importantly clamping of the wide gamut custom mode back to the sRGB colour space for colour aware applications (if you want to do that)
The new firmware seems to change things considerably would you be able to take a look? Also on game mode HDR in Windows did the HDR Configuration tool clip at 465Nits but actual content go higher?
We no longer have access to the screen I’m afraid. The windows HDR calibration tool won’t impact brightness, even if you set the levels really low in there it doesn’t change the output from the panel. That toll just impacts tone mapping to a small amount, and also how SDR content gets handled when running in HDR mode
@tftcentral ah OK no worries. I tested today. In the new HDR1000 mode thr PS5 configuration does 16 Clicks. In HDR Game it only goes 10 clicks before the image goes white. Does this mean that mode can no longer display 1000nits content?
@mardon85 not necessarily as I don’t believe that’s even a 1% APL test pattern window. It’s all a bit crude those configuration tools. @redders84 yes as it’s the input source signal that triggers the monitor going in to HDR mode. There’s a windows shortcut for it for NVIDIA users which is windows key + Alt + B which makes it quick and easy to switch
Hello, for the tactical 24" mode, I was told the only available resolution is 1080p???? if that's the case it's pretty stupid because it means the image will be upscaled and have horrible quality (not 1 to 1 pixel mapping like the Asus and LG 24" modes), could you ask Gigabyte why would they take such a weird decision to lock the resolution on an unoptimized one for that size and PPI?
I have both currently. I feel the Asus is calibrated more, but this panel is significantly brighter for some reason when using console hdr on Asus. It was shocking.l The power brick is smaller on the GB and the Vesa mounting is better as well, the Asus uses a weird circle adapter.
@@tftcentral Thank you very much for the answer, luckily I don't notice ABL at all. Also, comparing this to my Asus 32ucdm, this one is significantly brighter in default HDR mode APL high vs Asus console hdr mode. Any idea why that is? Which is more accurate?

I love your work but HDR setting on HDR game/high APL is just a deal breaker for me. For night time gameplay it's like playing with a full moon with snow on the ground, the screen is so bright you'd think you are playing during a cloudy day. There's no way to think it's night time. Normal HDR with APL High looks to me much closer to what you would expect from playing during night time. As a side note, I can play in a dark or nearly dark room. But anyway, thanks for your work, I like your SDR setting.
Yeah that’s fair, our review covers a load of different HDR testing and it will come down to user preference, ambient lighting and the game you’re playing
My understanding is FreeSync and Gsync compatible are all based on the identical technical standard so there's no actual difference between them beyond certification sticker. There is Gsync tho which is only for Nvidia cards with hardware acceleration but I hear they're pretty expensive monitors.
Well that’s impossible to define as it will depend entirely on your desk height, your line of sight, how tall you are, your eye sight etc. just set it to comfort

All OLED’s do but it very much depends on the game, content, frame rates and other system variables. Whether or not you’d ever experience it or find it a problem is very hard to comment on I’m afraid

@redders84 yes as it’s the input source signal that triggers the monitor going in to HDR mode. There’s a windows shortcut for it for NVIDIA users which is windows key + Alt + B which makes it quick and easy to switch
Im using MO34WQC2 and after hdr windows calibration i see in settings 430 maximum nit. It is normal for this windows app?
Hello, for the tactical 24" mode, I was told the only available resolution is 1080p????
if that's the case it's pretty stupid because it means the image will be upscaled and have horrible quality (not 1 to 1 pixel mapping like the Asus and LG 24" modes), could you ask Gigabyte why would they take such a weird decision to lock the resolution on an unoptimized one for that size and PPI?
You can manually change the resolution up to 4k though through windows configuration if you don't click the dual mode button.
@@stimple4765 Thank you, Badseed Tech recently showed it in his review, he's the only reviwer that actually gives realistic usage reviews.
just got the FO27Q3 today -- would the same picture/color settings apply? (I used them for lack of anything else at the moment)
No probably not but some of the more general settings are likely to carry over
How does this compare to the Asus? Besides 2.1
I have both currently. I feel the Asus is calibrated more, but this panel is significantly brighter for some reason when using console hdr on Asus. It was shocking.l The power brick is smaller on the GB and the Vesa mounting is better as well, the Asus uses a weird circle adapter.
What if I use APL stabilization on medium in SDR? It gives a nice boost in brightness that I need for one particular game.
That’s fine to do if you prefer the brightness boost. It just leads to some required ABL dimming but in dynamic content you may not even notice that
@@tftcentral Thank you very much for the answer, luckily I don't notice ABL at all. The only weird thing is that I came from a 32 curved monitor to this flat and it's so weird, it looks like it's bending backwards :D I hope I can get used to it because Alienware is still out of stock in my country and I can't return my old VA panel.
Btw can I boost brightness in SDR on alienware AW3225QF also like on this aorus ?
You’ll get used to it with a bit of time. I was the same when switching between curved and flat 😀
Not in SDR no
Does the warm tone go away after calibrating through the osd menu in SDR ? (with native color space and 96,97,100 on rgb colors) Thank you
Try it and see? This should get you close to 6500K. It may still look warm if you’ve been used to a very cool screen before so give it a bit of time to get used to it if so
@@tftcentral I am planning on buying it i dont have it for now that is why i needed to know, but thank you!
@@tftcentral Another question, the APL Medium for SDR isnt better in games or movies ? Since its creating a sort of "mini HDR" experience ?
both sRGB and Custom recommendations look very bland, flat, and blown out at times. Am I doing something wrong? I made another profile and it looks great, but it is so f-ing bright to get it to look good.
Same. I set mine HDR game. Dark enhancer off. Contrast 62. Color exchange 1 and APL medium
It was too dark and too bland on default
what is your profile
I hope some genius figures out a way to get inside service menu on the FO32U2P so we could set HDR 10% window to 1000 nits.
You’d need more than that I’m afraid, you’d need a completely redesigned panel, it’s just not capable of providing the power for that APL
Since this monitor has a Displayport Out socket (for daisy chaining), could you use it to connect to a soundbar? If you use a Displayport-to-HDMI adapter cable would it passthrough 5.1 audio or Dolby Atoms?
No I don’t believe it passed through and sound and the screen certainly doesn’t support Dolby atmos sound I’m afraid
@@tftcentral oh well, guess we'll still need two cables coming out of the GPU then. Would be nice if monitor manufacturers included an eARC socket for hi def audio and surround sound passthrough.
@0perativeX I agree. the only ones who offer that so far are Dell with their Alienware AW3225QF
This monitor should let us adjust everything but most importantly the color space. Feel like HDR image is too saturated at times. Also, comparing this to my Asus 32ucdm, this one is significantly brighter in default HDR mode APL high vs Asus console hdr mode. Any idea why that is? Which is more accurate?
This should explain the HDR brightness observations. The GB’s default HDR mode is like a true black 400 mode, while the Asus’ Console HDR mode is like peak 1000
tftcentral.co.uk/articles/testing-hdr400-true-black-and-peak-1000-mode-brightness-on-new-oled-monitors
I set mine HDR game. Dark enhancer off. Contrast 62. Color enhancer 1 and APL medium. I wanted to enhance the color without making it too dark or too bright
Still saving up money, so by the end of the year I can see what I want and what's our
hmm I had my previous LCD at 160nits, but this one I seem to prefer the default 85. I think its because of the massive contrast by OLED 🤔
Not sure what I should do now hmmm
Stick with whatever is comfortable for you
@@tftcentral Did you have the APL Stabilize on SDR on its default "low" setting? Because once I did set it to "Middle" Brightness of 50% suddenly feels great.
Is there a way to adjust the black levels when playing on Auto HDR with old games? they look blown out and the contrast / gamma is all messed up.
Using your icc with HDR default at Medium APL.
Try the specific “HDR” preset mode instead of Game
@@tftcentral Wait where do i find that? It's not the whole HDR, Vivid, Movie stuff ye?
Yeah that’s what I mean. The default one labelled as simply “HDR” is the most accurate
@@tftcentral Yes, that is what I use. HDR default with Medium APL.
HDR auto on Windows 11 just blows out the blacks to turn them gray if the game doesn't support HDR?
@eyescreamsandwitch52 ah ok. Well that’s probably a windows / software related issue. Trying to upscale SDR to HDR isn’t always great
I love your work but HDR setting on HDR game/high APL is just a deal breaker for me.
Can't you just reduce the brightness in HDR Game mode?
wish it was 27 or 28"
there are 27" 1440p 360hz models coming, let us enjoy our big 4k screen
Wait a minute, the F32UP2 is availble Since when?? I want it so bad, espacially the DP2.1 !! 😀
Available in some regions now. Check out our link in the description to keep track 😀
Wasn’t only the version out DP2.1 that was out
Hey mine just came in today and it's amazing I'm just awestruck by the picture quality
Is the absence of gsync a problem thinking of rtx 5000 series?
It still supports NVIDIA Gsync fine so no
My understanding is FreeSync and Gsync compatible are all based on the identical technical standard so there's no actual difference between them beyond certification sticker. There is Gsync tho which is only for Nvidia cards with hardware acceleration but I hear they're pretty expensive monitors.
I’m stuck at 60fps I’m using the 4090 with the HDMI 2.1 any reason why?
Is there another section in NVIDIA control panel further down with Pc resolutions and refresh rates?
@@tftcentral This! I had same issue on other panels, scroll further down
Had this issue with DP being locked at 200hz, bug with multi monitor setup it seemed..
There must be a software-side cap in operating system options or in the game. I doubt it’s the monitor.
From a price point, what would you recommend across ROG MSI Dell and Gigabyte?
In the US the price of the MSI is extremely competitive. In Europe and the UK the Dell is
Wheres the video review i cant read
Sorry there’s only a written review for this model
Why would we change anything? Doesn't gigabyte make the monitor look good already? Or is it a preference thing?
OK, this shows a lot of settings, but not the most important one: The height adjustment.
Well that’s impossible to define as it will depend entirely on your desk height, your line of sight, how tall you are, your eye sight etc. just set it to comfort
@@tftcentral Ok, I found out that you just have to push the panel up and down and that a spring is keeping it in the desired position. But I was missing an instruction until I finally figured it out myself.
Very well done, GTA looks amazing on this monitor in 4K, 240Hz, HDR, and with all monitor and GFX settings set to 'Maximum' and/or 'Ultra'. It won't go any higher than 180FPS in GTA, lol. Cheers mate. EDIT: I forgot to say, I'm just now waiting on the RTX 5000 series or better yet, the RTX5090, so we can connect DP 2.1 natively. Heard any rumors on when we could expect a RTX5000 series? I am hearing November 2024, but possibly for the RTX5070, not 5090., Either way, I forgot to mention it, this monitor is VERY future-proofed.
Not heard anything firm on next gen NVIDIA cards yet I’m afraid
Does this monitor have VRR flickering
All OLED’s do but it very much depends on the game, content, frame rates and other system variables. Whether or not you’d ever experience it or find it a problem is very hard to comment on I’m afraid
my brightness settings near 90 is this dangerous for my screen(sdr mode)? Thank you.
Well not dangerous, no. But it might increase your risk of image retention. Just be careful with static uses, use the image OLED care options provided. And you’ve got a warranty cover too so you should be fine
@@tftcentral i understand thank you for the information sir.
Seems like new firmware broke HDR game mode. it is more washed out than before.
I don't know why people just don't leave the monitor on ECO mode. It's colour seems fine and is more than bright enough for casual browsing and the likes.
The settings are way too dark. Dont know why you recommend this.
Like I said in the video, you can set brightness to whatever is appropriate for your ambient light conditions and preferences. 120nits is the perfectly fine for our test office
DP 2.1 FTW
