Further testing of the True Black 400 vs Peak 1000 HDR modes: tftcentral.co.uk/articles/testing-hdr400-true-black-and-peak-1000-mode-brightness-on-new-oled-monitors
Does this basically mean we should use True Black 400 for a brighter image overall + better contrast? That sounds like better image quality versus losing out on those peak highlights in a 2% window.
Debatable. Some people prefer that, others prefer the peak 1000 mode. Try both, it will prob depend on the content too. Hopefully MSI can improve the P1000 mode too
We are currently reviewing it 😀 the HDR modes and settings are different on that screen but we will try and provide recommendations for it when we’ve finished testing
Great video! Many thanks! Looking forward to seeing TFT Central's reviews of the DP 2.1 models like the Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P and HP Omen Transcend Ultra HD 240 when those come to market. 😊
Thanks. Update on the HP model here if you’ve not seen it yet tftcentral.co.uk/news/confirmation-on-the-hp-omen-transcend-32-full-spec-including-its-displayport-version
Some of the general guidance should apply to that model although we will have a specific guide for it in the next couple of weeks too, so check back soon 😀
@@tftcentral Great, you do a great job. I thought it would be the same except that the resolution changes, so I plan to apply the same user setting to test it. These days I have been on the verge of returning it because of some horizontal lines that magically disappeared in the 10th pixel update and because of the yellowish white, but after investigating they told me that it is because the color is very beautiful and that is how it must be and the lines I hope they do not return to appear since they were noticeable in any color not only in the 5%-10% gray
Wondering something. I used the monitor for the first time for 3h30m and then turned off my computer for about 4hrs. Later I turned on my computer again and the monitor wanted to do a Panel Protect after 30 minutes. I was confused why it didn't do it automatically when I had turned off my computer the first time. I let it run and after a few minutes the monitor went into Standby mode and didn't wake up. I had to manually turn it on. Why is that? Doesn't Panel Protect run automatically when the monitor is turned off, even if the 4hr limit hasn't been reached? I read somewhere that System Setting -> Power Button must be switched to Off for this to work but I thought it was a default setting. Also, what does Tools -> Power Setting -> Auto Shutdown do? I noticed that my monitor turned itself off while playing a game with a lot of cinematics where no user input is required (it woke up when I used the mouse).
@@tftcentral hecc. Well I did see your configuration on your site and subbed to the Patreon anyways. Got the ICC Profile so I am set. Thanks for responding!
I got the MAG version of this monitor. I used the same settings, since I assume it is the same panel. However, it seems very warm. I also noticed under the Gaming tab, that I can't turn off game mode. Any suggestions?
You could do that but you’d still be limiting your maximum luminance range that way. Compared with the other preset colour temp modes it’s much darker, and this seems to be the reason why
The sRGB bug seems like its fixed in the June firmware? According to the release notes: "4. Fixed Color Gamut clamping while HDR is enabled. HDR mode will now store separate present mode settings."
Thanks for this! Love your Channel. If you're working with MSI at all in regards to this monitor, can you please tell them to fix it so that the monitor goes back into standby after the panel protect runs, instead of shutting off. It's super annoying having to turn the monitor on manually after every cycle.
How about using premium colour instead of user mode? Looks better to me on my mpg 1440p. This bug is is weird. I returned the alienware aw2725df because of the scratches and no real hdmi 2.1 and when I set that monitor to hdr I didn't even had a option to change presets 😂 I returned the dell because it only worked with dsr with 144hz 8 bit because fake hdmi 2.1. Msi announced a firmware update to disable dcs and we can use dsr then on the msi 300+hz 10 bit!
Thanks for sharing a settings video! Do you or any viewers know if there is a color gamut difference between the 'User' and 'Display P3' Professional modes? The reason I was asking because I am trying to create a Content & a Gaming Screen Profile in the Gaming Intelligence app you can download. I can create a 'sRGB' or 'Display P3' profiles but you can't make one for the 'User' mode.
Yes User mode is a bit wider than P3 space at around 110% relative coverage and uses the full native gamut of the panel. The P3 mode clamps that back a bit to match the P3 space more closely. Covered in our review too linked in the description of this video
Can you change colour temp/white balance while in HDR mode on this monitor or does this lock you out along with the alienware and asus monitors? Im still on the hunt
Some of the general settings are likely to be the same but we’ll hopefully have a guide specifically for that screen soon too as we will be reviewing it soon 👍
Hey guys. Great channel! What's the difference between Gaming Mode and Pro Mode? Also, I find HDR to be way too bright and since one cannot turn it down in OSD, I assume the only solution is to decrease brightness in nVidia Control Panel (Adjust desktop color settings)
Those modes could just as well be in the same section, they’re all individual preset modes. Whichever you select last will be the one active For HDR do you mean it’s too bright in windows desktop? Or actual HDR content?
@@tftcentral Thank you so much for replying. I mean Windows Desktop, for example when alt-tabbing from a game to check a guide, the sudden brightness difference from a game is big. HDR Brightness in games is fine if there aren't any extremely bright conditions but I've not tested it that much yet (I'll do that today). If the room is very bright, it's not that bad though.
@TheAstralen ok I’m with you. Yes just alter the brightness slider in windows display settings and that will tone it down when you go back to windows desktop without impacting the HDR performance or brightness at all. But when you’re not viewing HDR content it’s best to disable windows HDR to revert properly to SDR mode.
@@tftcentral Thanks again for helping out. Just to be crystal clear, you mean System -> Display -> HDR and SDR Content Brightness slider? I was hoping to be able to use HDR and Auto HDR at all times so that I don't have to switch HDR on/off every time I want to play a game. This worked great with the Samsung G8 UW (1st gen).
@@tftcentral Yes, I've adjusted the HDR brightness in windows all the way up. It's not so much that watching videos or playing games in an issue, it's when I am doing work with a white screen. The whites just aren't bright enough and pops like my old Dell IPS monitor or compared to my Surface Studio Laptop screen.
@rustygates3367 that’s your problem. You shouldn’t have HDR enabled for SDR content. Only enable HDR when you’re viewing actual HDR content. With that disabled you will get a brighter and better desktop, and also avoid annoying ABL dimming when you resize and move windows round. More info and reasons here tftcentral.co.uk/articles/heres-why-you-should-only-enable-hdr-mode-on-your-pc-when-you-are-viewing-hdr-content
I'm new to this so idk how this question lands but: can someone's please explain to me how I can stream movies/shows on this monitor without it looking bad? I've tried different browsers and for whatever reason, I can't get high quality streaming on this monitor. I have it connected thru USB-C via a Thunderbolt 5 cable to my M2 Macbook
Does anyone know if MSI forces you to have the same display settings for each input source, or if there is a way to save custom display settings for each input?
Have a question, on which maybe you could shed some light. Having quite a problem when it comes to the monitors, which were released in the past decade - I get the feeling that my eyes and nose part are attempting to lift a car when I look the monitor(and there only a few monitors, which work for me. But nothing I could address to in terms of specifications). I did, however figured out that it's related to the led backlight. Last year I managed to buy a year 21 model of Samsung tv, to which I managed to get used to. But it happened only when I switched all of the lightbulbs in my house to the old 100w ones. Last "gaming"(I did try Dell's office monitor to have the same problem, if not worse) monitor was Samsung's G7 or something. There I noticed one thing - turning off gsync reduced the problem dramatically. This year I want to give OLED a try and wandering if I have a chance to move from a BenQ monitor, which I've used since 2012.
@@tftcentral high pressure, which ends up as a headache. Had my eyes and even had an mri of my head done. All is good. Fun thing - never had this with CRTs. I did try ips, va and even tn. Nothing. My 2011 monitor is a va(I can live infront of that one and not have any problems), tv is ips. But with the tv it was quite bad at the beginning, until I returned the brightness from lower to stock and replaced led lightbulbs in the room.
Basic question: when you take a photo with the camera or when you are saving a picture in adobe photoshop, you can select the colorspace that you like, for example adobe rgb. How does this relate to have you have your monitor setup..? Can you view adobeRGB picture with sRGB set on your monitor..? 🤔🤔🤔
If you viewed content like that which was designed for Adobe RGB colour space on a screen where you'd clamped the output gamut to sRGB, the colours would not be accurate or as intended. you'd really want the display's active colour space to be the same as the content you're viewing
I havent seen any guides on Alienware monitors in your videos. Am I blind or is it a brand you don't give in depth guides with? I got the color profile from your site for my aw2725df, and im not entirely sure if im supposed to do anything else. Thanks for the great resources!
It’s just a question of time, but we might have chance to do guides for the 27” and 32” Dell models at some point. As well as the icc profile, make sure you’ve paired it with the settings listed in the database with it. Eg using the custom color mode
Thank you! All this information is difficult for me to understand, but when your test recommends an R, G, and B value, should I set that value in gain, offset, hue, and saturation?@@tftcentral
I received the 321URX 2 days ago, so far I am so disappointed with the display. It does not offer any better colour or peak brightness over my 48C1 that my eyes can perceive in the games and videos I side-tested the 2 displays with. I was expecting a clear step up in HDR picture quality. I thought I was not getting some subtlety on the settings, but this video shows me I did not. Hard to justify that purchase just for 240hz and higher pixel density...
@@tftcentral I have a good setup with the C1 hung on the wall and my desk 50cm away, so I do not need a better desk setup. The pixel density is better yes, but I was not looking for this either. I expected a big step up in HDR and a wow effect.
This is our pick for USA as it’s got a better overall feature set and is also a lower cost. In Europe and the UK the Dell is a lot cheaper so would be a good choice
Hello, I bought the same monitor and I have a question, when I updated it the first time it gave me an error because it had a USB remote and when I removed it I came back and said ok perfect, but I click on the monitor menu and it comes out fw 0.0.9 I think, Could you update, thank you
It doesn’t really matter as long as the connection can support the res and refresh rate. To use HDMI you’d need a graphics card with HDMI 2.1 output which is a lot newer than DisplayPort so makes it a bit less accessible for the masses
You can select the HDR mode only when windows is running in HDR and we’d only recommend enabling that when you’re viewing actual HDR content tftcentral.co.uk/articles/heres-why-you-should-only-enable-hdr-mode-on-your-pc-when-you-are-viewing-hdr-content In terms of which screen HDR mode to choose, try both as there’s some issues with peak 1000 mode at the moment which are explored here tftcentral.co.uk/articles/testing-hdr400-true-black-and-peak-1000-mode-brightness-on-new-oled-monitors
At the moment I am using the 'User' mode with the recommended RGB settings. I am not sure if it is just me because I am maybe used to cooler displays, but it looks quite yellow to my eyes. Is this normal?
@TFTCentral. I just received my MPG 321URX and am having an issue with the HDR peak 1000 setting. Every time I turn on HDR in windows 11 and am on the peak 1000 mode, the screen becomes overly saturated with a yellow hue. I am able to use the peak 400 setting without issues. I have updated both the firmware (from 2/27/24) and my NVIDIA driver (from 3/5/24). I am running an RTX 4090. I am assuming this has something to do with the windows 11 HDR compatibility but would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
I used "premium color" for gaming and tried both "sRGB" and "user" for professional as you recommended in your video. Unfortunately same result each time I switch to peak 1000. True black 400 works just fine.
Thank you. I suspect it's a defective unit. I will probably go through the RMA process to get a new unit. Just wanted to make sure you didn't have any out of the box solutions. Appreciate your help.
@@tftcentral I ended up finding out through another post. When HDR is ON on Windows, some OSD features are disabled, such as Night Vision, A.I. Vision, Brightness, Contrast, and Color Temperature.
Do I want to keep the profile in Pro - User or Game - User when I am gaming? (edit) saw the answer in comment section..they are both the same.. However: I noticed there is a "Image Enhancement" setting under the Professional setting.. it seems to default to "weak" .. should this be turned off? It was not mentioned in the video @tftCentral
You can’t actually change the colour temp while in HDR mode. That pro mode just impacts the colour space used, so user will give you native wide gamut. The colour temp is pretty close to D65 anyway thankfully in HDR
So I have two URX for my setup. Ever since updating the firmware from .9 to .11 I no longer can do 240hrz @4k on both monitors. My main monitor flickers static in small parts and is driving me crazy. I am using DP cable from MicroCenter that can handle up to 8k 120hrz. What am I doing wrong here?
I have two, my second URX to my left can only go to 4k 120hrz. First main urx has so much flickering even in the desktop. Everything was fine before I updated both. I'm thinking it might be the DP1.4 cables I picked up at microcenter.
@MidnightCriminal most likely the cables. Have they been changed since? Could also maybe try a screen reset on both. Are they both ok when used one at a time?
@@tftcentral Hi, yes it was the cables. These cables "sku:673657" from Microcenter, somehow do not support past 60hrz which is kinda dumb. Switch back to these cables "Sku:699645" work on both URX monitors @4k/240hrz. Thank you for all your help!
Guys, I have a problem with this monitor when using PS5. I use the HDMI-cable that came with the monitor. It stutters a lot even when VRR is turned on on the PS5 + 120 hz mode, and adaptive sync is active on the monitor itself. It's like there is "no sync" between the refresh rate and the frame rate at all. Have tried to disable HDCP on the PS5, didn't help. Tried other cables, didn't help. VRR works like a charm on PC...
you mean via their additional software? I could have done, but I would expect the vast majority of people to just use the OSD menu and therefore use the joystick to do that. so it seemed most relevant
@@tftcentral The main selling point for MSI is exactly their software to control monitor. This along with much lower USA price will attract many buyers. Glitching Dolby Vision, curved screen and much higher prices are nail in coffin of Dell/Asus offers.
asus and I think Dell also have the monitor controlling software, the only advantage of the MSI is if you can get it at a cheaper price, which in the US at least you can.@@level80888
Hey, i got a question, im looking for a new 27 inch gaming monitor to play mostly Fps games on ps5 and definitly im lost. Without oled and 4k there is literaly no good 1440p lcd panels choices with full HDMI 2.1.. Should i go for a 4k monitor when i will mostly play on 1440p ? Or oled and i go live under a bridge ? 😅 Please help me and excuse my english im french 😆 Btw thanks for all your content 👌
If you’re playing at 1440p you won’t really need full speed HDMI 2.1 anyway so even those with HDMI 2.0 speed ports should be ok to support 1440p at 120Hz. Have you def ruled out getting an OLED?
@@tftcentral but i heard that in some cases the vrr Can be important when FPS drops (like 120 to 80 for exemple) is it true ? I dont know if its a good idea to buy an Oled right now or waiting few years to pick one or a mini led instead ? Thx for you answer btw
It can be useful but I wouldn’t say it’s vital. Some HDMI 2.0 speed monitors will also support VRR, although those tend to be marketed as supporting that. It’s a bit more widespread for Xbox as well as that can support the older alternative FreeSync over HDMI too for VRR. The PS5 needs HDMI-VRR to support that feature
@@tftcentral the fact is that i found only 2 gaming monitors that support Vrr on ps5 (27" 1440p LCD) who seems to be not bad. After searching a lot and check forums etc..cause of lies informations on a lot of monitors 😒 This is the Alienware 2724DM and the Dell G2724D but maybe i miss other ones ? Or did you think its better that i spent more money to go for an Oled right now ?
@yvory1600 well an OLED would give you significantly better gaming and HDR experience. Maybe even looking at the 32” models with proper HDMI 2.1 and 4K would be worth considering?
@@tftcentral that sucks because then dldsr won't work. I play games at 4k on a 65" qd oled tv and dldsr is pretty much needed to combat the blur from taa/dlss. I wonder if the higher pixel density of 4k 32" can make up for the lack of dldsr and still look sharp despite taa/dlss.
The game modes are just additional presets that are extra to the pro modes. Whichever one you select most recently will be active. Premium colour mode just has some added colour vibrancy.
@voodoojester8069 I would select “user” from the pro mode menu, although they could be the exact same setting. If you select something in pro mode, it overrides whatever your last game mode selection was anyway
It’s a series of adjustments to things like sharpness and colour saturation. I wouldn’t recommend them from an accuracy POV, but you could experiment with them for certain games if you find they give you a visual boost you like
it was unclear if one mode is enough. i find it unacceptable to switch modes. i have a lg woled right now and it just works, sdr looks like my ips, and hdr looks like amazing hdr. lets say i get this MSI oled, and i have sdr and hdr modes set up. and i am in sdr mode on desktop, now i open a hdr UA-cam video(small tab and multi monitor.). i then enable hdr mode and the sdr all around the video is now looks worse than sdr?
how do you work this on your current LG WOLED screen at the moment? to view most HDR content from Windows, you first have to enable it from display settings. that would then trigger HDR mode on the monitor automatically. some games might auto-trigger Windows HDR for you too, but i'm curious how you have it working at the moment?
@@tftcentral my CORSAIR XENEON 27QHD240 is set to "brightness stabilizer off", windows had hdr on, and no auto hdr. then everything is on hdr mode, my monitor can not adjust brightness amongst other things, windows has now a sdr brightness slider that i set to 8% . second monitor is normal ips, i can drag hdr UA-cam videos or normal movies between screens and the background won't change only the video switched automatically from sdr to hdr.
@356h7 oh right ok. Well you could certainly do the same thing with this screen if you wanted, just leave it in HDR mode all the time like you do for your Corsair now. Although it’s not really recommended to run in HDR mode all the time tbh tftcentral.co.uk/articles/heres-why-you-should-only-enable-hdr-mode-on-your-pc-when-you-are-viewing-hdr-content
@@tftcentral yea i read that article, i know it is a issue for oled these days, but as long as it looks as good as on my ips i have lost nothing. and gained hdr. since i have never toggled hdr mode, how common is that for oled monitor users? and hopefully that can be a test in the future, how bad is sdr in hdr mode on different monitors and so on.
Great video. I have a question, I use pc for gaming and i like sdr mode instead of HDR in windows, but with console gaming I like HDR mode. When i use pc for gaming i just set up sRGB mode but for console gaming have I set up user mode with HDR 1000nits on in order to get true HDR on consoles? I have to switch every time I'm going to play on console right?
For now the SDR and HDR modes don’t independently remember which “pro mode” you want for each, it’s a single universal setting. So if you want to use the sRGB emulation mode in SDR from Pc, you’ll need to manually switch that from sRGB to User When you play console games in HDR. there’ll be an update at some point which fixes the need to do that I’m sure
@tftcentral Horizon Zero Dawn looks very good with HDR1000. For Valhalla, I use 1000 nits setting in-game with everything as default. Even if I increase in-game exposure to 1.0 - still too dark and washed out. Also, besides games, virtual sdr is too dim vs HD400 in browser even if I set SDR in HDR slider to 100% in Windows
Are you talking about how the mode looks in windows and SDR content though, or during actual HDR content playback? I would recommend running the windows HDR configuration app as well
@@tftcentral just in game. I have ran windows hdr calibration tool for both hdr 400 and peak 1000. For example Call of duty MW3 when in game hdr400 is brighter and doesn't look as washed out as peak 1000. On windows and any other place peak 1000 is brighter. It's strange. For now leaving it on hdr400 until I can figure out why this is. I have my settings per this video besides HDR.
That was covered in there as something you might want to enable. It can cause flickering in some situations on OLED panels, so not everyone wants to use it
@tftcentral my mistake, I just thought something so important would've had more time allocated. I also think regardless of the issue with HDR it's better than the AW3225QF because it allows you to actually change color settings in HDR unlike the AW3225QF.
Darker you mean? If you’re also using the “customisation” colour temp, you need to bump all those up from their default 50 to 100 to start with, then adjust from there.
@@tftcentral colors , I only use hdr , but I have no idea what the gaming picture modes are or the pro modes , but I use the movie settings under the pro section because user seems to have less vibrant colors I also use the pro color option under the gaming section , it would be nice to be able to change my color temperatures as well since all the images are too warm for my liking but all the options are greyed out , I assume because of HDR
@Dx-so7jm ok I think I know what’s happening probably. Imagine the game modes and pro modes were all in a single menu list instead of being split in to two sections. Whichever you activate last will be the one active. So make sure you’re selecting the relevant pro mode as the one active (ie user). Ignore the game modes. If you have HDR enabled all the time (not recommended) then windows desktop will actually emulate the SDR /sRGB colour space so that will explain why it looks less colourful and more dull. Certainly more so than if you were using user mode but in SDR with HDR turned off. But when you play actual HDR content it should render back in the full native colour space again as intended
@@tftcentral wow , I didn't know I needed so much help to figure out a monitor , thanks for the help , so I should not activate HDR in Windows ? Isn't that necessary for gaming in hdr ?
@Dx-so7jm we’d recommend only enabling it in windows when you want to view actual HDR content. Some games will actually trigger HDR mode without you needing to have activated it in windows. You should be able to tell by the monitor OSD if it’s moved in to HDR mode or not. There’s a handy keyboard shortcut (win + Alt +B) as well to enable/disable HDR for you in windows More info on the topic here tftcentral.co.uk/articles/heres-why-you-should-only-enable-hdr-mode-on-your-pc-when-you-are-viewing-hdr-content
Questions: * can you change brightness in hdr mode? * can you control brightness/color mode over DCC/CI ? (examples: Monitorian, TwinkleTray, ..). if so, also for HDR? * is there MSI software to control settings? context for these questions: my now older HDR screen does not allow me to change brightness in HDR mode via osd. Luckily i can change (reduce) brightness over DDC/CI even in HDR mode. I change my screen brightness a lot, so software control is important to me. I like HDR content, but i do not subscribe to the idea that HDR means you cannot reduce brightness.
There’s no control over brightness via the main OSD. MSI do provide a software for controlling the settings but that has the same limitation. I’m afraid we didn’t test control via DCC/CI
I got it in the beginning but it was the same with my old Samsung G8 QD-OLED, you should get used to it. Also scaling in Windows matters. Make sure to decrease Brightness (unless you only use it in a bright room).
@@Pensioner1203 Well, 100% scaling in Windows (text, buttons, windows and so forth) is too small for me. I use 125% scaling which I've gotten used to now.

LG Electronics must have gotten a very limited stock of the panels early from LG.Display. not surprising really. The full mass production for that panel is still listed as May/June by them, and i don't expect this to be available in any massive volume for a while still
I got my 321URX, tried it out for 30 minutes and returned it. Reason? The text is just not crisp enough and the monitor is lacking brightness. I'm comparing it to the built-in macbook pro 14" display and LG 27UK850-W (27" 4K IPS monitor). Don't get me wrong, for gaming 321URX would work well (I tried CS2 for 10 minutes, it was epic), but for design and producitity work it was just too blurry and dark for me.
@@CookaSoupNieceEH I was not expecting an upgrade, but was hoping that it would not be a downgrade, but the text was just too blurry in qd-oled. Though some of my friends could not tell the difference, so I guess it depends on the person/eyes. In any case, I can't believe reviewers are not emphasizing this aspect.
The text clarity is very good on these new 4K QD-OLED screens. Perhaps you were using a weird mode with accentuated sharpness, or something else odd. If you're used to even higher pixel densities, which it sounds like you are, then that could also explain the visual difference. But here's it's very close to a 32" 4K LCD in clarity

I got the MAG version of this monitor. I used the same settings, since I assume it is the same panel. However, it seems very warm. I also noticed under the Gaming tab, that I can't turn off game mode. Any suggestions?
It looks like the bug mentioned at 6:30 may have been addressed in firmware update FW.010
It has indeed
Premium color is the way
no the colors clearly look oversaturated, details go missing.
Briliant
During the color temperature part with the RGB sliders, when you raise them from 50 to 100 couldn't you get the same effect by raising the brightness?
You could do that but you’d still be limiting your maximum luminance range that way. Compared with the other preset colour temp modes it’s much darker, and this seems to be the reason why
The sRGB bug seems like its fixed in the June firmware? According to the release notes:
"4. Fixed Color Gamut clamping while HDR is enabled. HDR mode will now store separate present mode settings."
Yes indeed. Firmware updates tested and reviewed here

Thanks for this! Love your Channel. If you're working with MSI at all in regards to this monitor, can you please tell them to fix it so that the monitor goes back into standby after the panel protect runs, instead of shutting off. It's super annoying having to turn the monitor on manually after every cycle.
I’ll feed it back to them 😀
How about using premium colour instead of user mode? Looks better to me on my mpg 1440p. This bug is is weird. I returned the alienware aw2725df because of the scratches and no real hdmi 2.1 and when I set that monitor to hdr I didn't even had a option to change presets 😂
I returned the dell because it only worked with dsr with 144hz 8 bit because fake hdmi 2.1. Msi announced a firmware update to disable dcs and we can use dsr then on the msi 300+hz 10 bit!
Where did they announce that please?

Getting the 271QRX soon - would the recommended settings be similar or about the same?
Some of the general settings are likely to be the same but we’ll hopefully have a guide specifically for that screen soon too as we will be reviewing it soon 👍
Hey guys. Great channel! What's the difference between Gaming Mode and Pro Mode? Also, I find HDR to be way too bright and since one cannot turn it down in OSD, I assume the only solution is to decrease brightness in nVidia Control Panel (Adjust desktop color settings)
Those modes could just as well be in the same section, they’re all individual preset modes. Whichever you select last will be the one active
For HDR do you mean it’s too bright in windows desktop?
@TheAstralen yes that’s the slider which will help control desktop brightness in that situation
I just got this monitor and its just too bloody dim for use in my study during the day (well-lit with lots of sunshine through the windows)!
Have you got HDR enabled in windows display settings?
More info and reasons here

Hello this future ai skysight enemies mini map detection will work on console ?
So you're getting headaches and eye strain? this can vary by person, and by different panel technologies. Have you had your eyes tested recently too?
Isn’t it a far more suitable size for a desktop monitor at least?
@@tftcentral I have a good setup with the C1 hung on the wall and my desk 50cm away, so I do not need a better desk setup.
The pixel density is better yes, but I was not looking for this either. I expected a big step up in HDR and a wow effect.
Hello. Do these settings still apply after the most recent firmware update? Thanks.
Yes 👍
When are they releasing this, been checking everyday, still says coming soon.
It’s released but there’s just very low volumes of initial stock being shipped. Keep checking, I’m sure that will catch up with demand soon
Are you going to do one for the Asus PG32UCDM?
Unfortunately not as we had to give that back to Asus pretty soon after the review
Which would you prefer? This or the Alienware 3225QF?
This is our pick for USA as it’s got a better overall feature set and is also a lower cost. In Europe and the UK the Dell is a lot cheaper so would be a good choice
So there’s no gamma (2:2 , 2:4 etc) control in the setting … v?

Sorry I’m confused by the question ?
I’m pretty new to pc gaming. Would you say displayport is better than hdmi?
It doesn’t really matter as long as the connection can support the res and refresh rate. To use HDMI you’d need a graphics card with HDMI 2.1 output which is a lot newer than DisplayPort so makes it a bit less accessible for the masses
For a PC with Nvidia RTX 4090 and this monitor, would you use DP or HDMI? Which is better in this case?
It doesn’t really matter at all. You can use either and both support the full panel capabilities
So are you suggesting to enable HDR Peak1000 even during normal usage?
You can select the HDR mode only when windows is running in HDR and we’d only recommend enabling that when you’re viewing actual HDR content

Which pro mode and game mode do you have the screen set on?
I used "premium color" for gaming and tried both "sRGB" and "user" for professional as you recommended in your video. Unfortunately same result each time I switch to peak 1000. True black 400 works just fine.
Very odd. It doesn’t do that on our unit. Perhaps worth reporting to MSI in case it’s a bug or something they can address through firmware
Thank you. I suspect it's a defective unit. I will probably go through the RMA process to get a new unit. Just wanted to make sure you didn't have any out of the box solutions. Appreciate your help.

Does the color temperature while in HDR also need to be corrected? Does this apply to both the User mode and the bugged sRGB mode?
You can’t actually change the colour temp while in HDR mode. That pro mode just impacts the colour space used, so user will give you native wide gamut. The colour temp is pretty close to D65 anyway thankfully in HDR

Why do monitors like the pg32ucdm only support 120hz 422 with dsc disabled? Hdmi 2.1 should be able to support 120hz rgb/444, no?

@@tftcentral that sucks because then dldsr won't work. I play games at 4k on a 65" qd oled tv and dldsr is pretty much needed to combat the blur from taa/dlss. I wonder if the higher pixel density of 4k 32" can make up for the lack of dldsr and still look sharp despite taa/dlss.
what about premium color ?
i find it's oversaturated picture is it accurate
in you video you not set it to user mode
The game modes are just additional presets that are extra to the pro modes. Whichever one you select most recently will be active. Premium colour mode just has some added colour vibrancy.
So the most accurate way is choose “User” in game mode right?
@voodoojester8069 I would select “user” from the pro mode menu, although they could be the exact same setting. If you select something in pro mode, it overrides whatever your last game mode selection was anyway

When i use pc for gaming i just set up sRGB mode but for console gaming have I set up user mode with HDR 1000nits on in order to get true HDR on consoles? For now the SDR and HDR modes don’t independently remember which “pro mode” you want for each, it’s a single universal setting.
If you have HDR enabled all the time (not recommended) then windows desktop will actually emulate the SDR /sRGB colour space so that will explain why it looks less colourful and more dull. coming later this year, and the panels/displays are discussed in this video: ua-cam.com/video/vSIEQYMjpQ4/v-deo.html
Questions:
* can you change brightness in hdr mode?
* can you control brightness/color mode over DCC/CI ? (examples: Monitorian, TwinkleTray, ..). if so, also for HDR?
* is there MSI software to control settings?
context for these questions:
my now older HDR screen does not allow me to change brightness in HDR mode via osd.
Anybody get sore eyes with this monitor or is it just me ?
I got it in the beginning but it was the same with my old Samsung G8 QD-OLED, you should get used to it. Also scaling in Windows matters. Make sure to decrease Brightness (unless you only use it in a bright room).
@@TheAstralenthanks reply. What do you mean scaling in windows ? Please
@@Pensioner1203 Well, 100% scaling in Windows (text, buttons, windows and so forth) is too small for me. I use 125% scaling which I've gotten used to now.
is this the ki cheating monitor?
Hey dude, the 32GS95UE is already available for purchase at LG... looks like your roadmap is way off.
It's available to pre order and says they are expected to start shipping from Mon, Apr 15. LG Electronics must have gotten a very limited stock of the panels early from LG.Display. not surprising really. The full mass production for that panel is still listed as May/June by them, and i don't expect this to be available in any massive volume for a while still
Not on LG's UK website..........neither the 32 or the new-improved 27 is showing.
Just the 'old' 27gr95....
He was talking mass production. Ofc there will be early production models like there have been for MSI, for example.
Just placed my pre-order. Estimated arrival April 15th! Thank you!
Did you honestly expect an upgrade in sharpness going from retina screen to oled? 😂
U don't use an OLED screen for design and productivity. U should have known that. Oleds only for gaming most of the time.
Did you change it from the default ECO mode?
The text clarity is very good on these new 4K QD-OLED screens. Perhaps you were using a weird mode with accentuated sharpness, or something else odd. If you're used to even higher pixel densities, which it sounds like you are, then that could also explain the visual difference. But here's it's very close to a 32" 4K LCD in clarity
The MSI stand design looks ugly as hell 😂 Not even bezels all around and and shitty-looking logo. Why not to put logo on the side of the stand? I don't know who designed all those monitors probably 5 years old can do a better job.
No one cares. Do the PG32UCDM!
I expect MPG 321URX owner's care ;)
lol. PG32UCDM and all other Asus OLED's have worst stand design thanks to their three arms expand three different direction and covers much more area. Totally bullshit with annoying rog logo underneath the panel.
@@alperdemir8574 who tf DOESNT use a monitor arm? lmao
Can I use my keyboard to change KVM inputs?
Does this monitor supprt KVM input switching using a keyboard?
Also, does it have HDMI eARC?
No and no
What about the gaming intelligence app?
It supports the gaming intelligence app yes. If that’s what you meant
