George was a modern day philosopher. He got his point across with comedy.

No, he was a comedian and social commentator. Fans like to make *themselves* feel clever by saying he was a philosopher, because they get it. Think they'd get Schopenhauer or Kierkegaard so easily?

George was one of my heroes, may he RIP.
He was a prophetic teacher toward the end of his life. Those who've had the greatest influence on who I've become today have been my parents, Neil Peart, Frank Zappa, and GEORGE CARLIN.
The beauty about his routines is that he'll say something outrageously offensive, walk you through his logic, and leave you with no choice but to AGREE with him!
More of his best work would be 'war on homelessness,' and 'saving the planet.'

Most departments, particularly Economics, of Harvard, U of Chicago, etc. have been ruled by Federalist Society libertarian hacks for decades now. They're so far to the right, that Carlin knew they were a lost cause.

I was introduced to him in 1968. at the Defense Information School. where I was being trained to be a military broadcaster, when one of our instructors played a cut from one of his albums, the Hippie Dippie Weatherman, as a lesson on how we were not supposed to broadcast. Been a fan ever since.

Yeah, the older George got, the more and heavier bombs he dropped. This isn't a `rolling on the floor holding your stomach funny` type of skit, but it's so true and so relatable to today that it doesn't matter.

George never gave a damn whether he was popular or not. To him the truth was the truth plain and simple.
He balanced on belly laughs pointing out common likeness and frustrations combined with in your face reality.
His shows usually had a combination of both.
I highly recommend the following videos.

Very interesting guy. He was a prolific writer, and would tour half the year and work on new material the other half. You can watch his evolution from the 60s to the 00s. He didn't sell out for big paychecks because he wanted to be his own man. A witty wordsmith throughout, he became less of a joke teller and more of a ranting social critic and philosopher in his later years. He was such an excellent communicator, using humor to elucidate his musings. I bet he'd have some interesting opinions if he were still with us. RIP brother.

Back in the days of broadcast TV, george was milder and 'cleaner' due to language restrictions '. He was set free when cable came around and in his waning days he was unhinged and pretty much saud what he wanted. There was still humor there, but too angry and bitter for some. I saw him live back in the early 80's when he was still a major comedian. It's been 15 years since his voice was silenced. Rest In Peace George.

"People say, 'I'm going to sleep now,' as if it were nothing. But it's really a bizarre activity. 'For the next several hours, while the sun is gone, I'm going to become unconscious, temporarily losing command over everything I know and understand. When the sun returns, I will resume my life.'
If you didn't know what sleep was, and you had only seen it in a science fiction movie, you would think it was weird and tell all your friends about the movie you'd seen.
They had these people, you know? And they would walk around all day and be OK? And then, once a day, usually after dark, they would lie down on these special platforms and become unconscious. They would stop functioning almost completely, except deep in their minds they would have adventures and experiences that were completely impossible in real life. As they lay there, completely vulnerable to their enemies, their only movements were to occasionally shift from one position to another; or, if one of the 'mind adventures' got too real, they would sit up and scream and be glad they weren't unconscious anymore. Then they would drink a lot of coffee.'
So, next time you see someone sleeping, make believe you're in a science fiction movie. And whisper, 'The creature is regenerating itself.” "George Carlin"

Saw a documentary where British politicians and teachers were congratulating each other for new computers in some poor schools. One of the journalists stayed behind to watch the students. They could not spell well enough to do the most basic of Google searches! Basic skills need to come before technology. You can't buy good spelling. You must learn it.

Trump graduated from The Wharton School, one of the top business schools in the US and the world. Most of these moron politicians today couldn't get into Wharton to deliver a pizza. Britain is such a sad shadow of it's former self because it first forgot God, then it's moral principles, then it's entrepreneurial spirit, and is even in worse shape like American in it's school system. Oxford and Cambridge aside, the UK is very much a third world country in so many ways. I found it very depressing and sad and glad to return to my local academies where kindergarten students carry, understand, and use laptops.
