George! The GOAT, OG! These are not "jokes", these are social/cultural lessons/teachings disguised as comedy. He always makes you think and re-think about "self evident" cultural or social issues. He is/was a genius. His verbal skills and memory out of this world! Thank you very much and more George and maybe Jon Stewart and Bill Maher also pls.

You’re absolutely right that there were plenty of people in his audience who were religious or people had different opinions on political and social commentary. This is recorded in a different time when people were more open to hearing ideas that were at odds with or in some ways challenged their own views and beliefs. It was before so many people separated to themselves into one of these two ridiculous left/right red/blue tribes and only started consuming news and entertainment that meets the approval of and is consistent with the worldview of their particular tribe. People of varied outlooks recognized the genius of of Carlin’s observations and mastery of his live performances. His command of the language, cadence and rhythm of his delivery, and use of body language, pantomime, and facial expression was more like a musical theater performance than your standard standup comedy show. You didn’t have to agree with him on everything, but he made you think and question things just as much as he made you laugh. Such a prolific output of high quality art that stands the test of time and remains relevant to new audiences.

What he did in this skit, was brought God to human terms. After we have been taught to NEVER to use blasphemy against God and that God is supreme over us all, he brought the whole issue as if he were looking at a work mate. He was raised Catholic, but he went atheist. He knew to go right straight in or not at all....

Check out 70s Carlin.. he's like an entirely different person.. his albums Class Clown and FM/AM are considered comedy classics. in the 60s George was a very mainstream, suit and tie comic doing silly stuff. Then he heard Lenny Bruce, joined the counter culture, grew out his hair and beard and started doing more "conversational" comedy. His stuff in the 70s is very, for lack of a better word, "Groovy". This is"Post 1990" George where his material became increasingly cranky, nihilistic and dark.. culminating with his last special, "Life is Worth Losing"

George Carlin was a gift to mankind. When he passed a little light, laughter, and logic went with him. Its great seeing you guys react and getting a kick out of it though. Often U.S humor and British humor kinda differs but as ya'll said, Carlin's talking about global ideas. And I say 'ideas' and not 'jokes' because it's tough to refute any of his points. If anyone can i'd love to hear it. This bit is largely why i'm an atheist.

That is the George Carlin I know. I'd never seen the first George Carlin video you reacted to. That first one was a bit 'left-field'. This is 'classic' Carlin. A companion piece is _'GEORGE CARLIN - The Ten Commandments'_ (6m28s) ua-cam.com/video/sk81tUUhRig/v-deo.html . There are a couple of 'Ten Commandments' on YT, but that is the better quality video.
Another 'classic' is _'George Carlin on soft language'_ ua-cam.com/video/o25I2fzFGoY/v-deo.html

@@BritPopsReact George Carlin was very good. I like new comedians, new sets, or good reactions to familiar sets. So I'll be there. There are plenty of good US and Canadian comedians. However, I find US audiences a bit annoying. They should understand that if they are paying to be there (rather than be paid), no one else _needs_ to hear them.
IMO a competent comedian doesn't need shouting, whoops, hollers, or cheers at random times. Just laughing and clapping at the funny part is enough.
Anyway, enough of me being grumpy 😃
      Best wishes for 2022.

Very funny guy, but not in the traditional joke way. Reminds me of my dad (73, says it like it is, and doesn't care if you like it or not).
I like most types of comedy, from the silly (old school Benny Hill, The Two Ronnies etc, and Lee Evans to name a few), to the more observational type like this fella. Michael McIntire (I've probably spelled that wrong) always makes me belly laugh too.
    Yep, bring on the comedy!

For me what makes all these arguments is the kind of word we use to discribe a Supreme being/Universal Creator/Divine Source. Try and dig up were the God word came up including other versions of it by other Culture. In Spanish the word God is DIOS that came from the ZEUS... There were even Human (hybrid) wanted to call themselves as a God. 3 examples are the Ceazars of Rome(invented Government+Religion), Persia and Once in Japan. The wanting to be venerated as
Human God (DOG) the watch Dogs/War Dogs of the Watchers/El-ohem
