      As the seals aged on the old avalanche, they had major water leak issues. Heard this ev truck has a lot of noise leaking to back seats due to midgate. Would prefer a GMC Electric truck option without midgate to avoid potential future issues and noise in back.

    I have a Model Y LR. Great car. And I actually like the way the CT looks. However, this is the truck I am getting. The frunk is way more usable. Huge range. And my last GM was by far the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.

    This is nicely designed. I've brought 2x4 in my Rivian R1T and it stuck out. It's not an issue but having a larger bed is useful. The midgate is great. We were planning to camp with the R1T and realized we have no HVAC in our tent. This would allow you to use the truck's HVAC. And finally, no more push to start/off button. Thanks for the video

    This is the best EV truck on the market on Oct 19, 2024. Lose the midgate and reduce the price without losing range, and I would be in.

    • @dvader3263
      @dvader3263 2 місяці тому +6

      Do you on a regular basis drive for more than 5 hours at a time without stopping for food, drink, snack or bathroom piss or crap break?
      340 miles of range on the CT is plenty and works well.
      330 miles of range on the Model Y works great. The Model Y was the best selling vehicle in the world in 2023.
      1.8 million Teslas were sold in 2023.
      That's more EVs than Ford sold in trucks.
      As far as towing, most people don't tow.
      If people have a giant heavy RV and tow cross country, they'll use a heavy duty diesel pickup truck, not a light half ton pickup.

    • @30smsuperstrat
      @30smsuperstrat 2 місяці тому

      @dvader3263 Like I said, the GMC/Silverado is the best EV truck today, hands down. Last I checked, my Model Y is NOT a truck. And yes, my half Ton truck pulls my 26' trailer up and down mountain passes all the time. I'll rip by F350s rolling coal like they're standing still.

    • @dpav02
      @dpav02 2 місяці тому +1

      Then get the Silverado EV WT. doesn’t have a mid gate and as many features but it still does have the large battery and a reduced price.

    • @bobbyr8071
      @bobbyr8071 2 місяці тому

      They can’t drop the price because it has a $40k 200kwh 4k lbs battery 😂😂😂

    • @darpompie4354
      @darpompie4354 2 місяці тому

      @@bobbyr8071 Exactly. The battery is way too expensive for them to compete after the rich folk are done buying. The 450 mile range is useless. It's not like it solves the problem that EV trucks suck at long distance towing. You are now carrying a ton more weight and it's much more expensive to fill in both cost and time. EV trucks are for contractors/people that don't leave town so the bigger battery is actually a negative. After checking them all out, I went with a platinum Lightning. I could get 2 of them for the price of a Denali or Cybertruck. Good call on not wanting the midgate. I was intrigued by it, but after seeing it in action, its a hard pass. I would never use it, it gets rid of back seat storage that I would use and boy does it ever make the back seat noisy. After checking them all out, I would rate the Denali the best EV truck at this time, but it's also the worst value. The Lightning (especially with the deals they are throwing out) is by far the best bang for the buck you can get.

    Good review man. Any idea where the owner of the truck got that bed cover? I have yet to find one that isnt a velcro down option ( which sucks) or the fold up into 4ths that ends by leaning up against the glass which I dont care for. I prefer what I think that truck had on it ( you didnt call it out though) which retracts into into a cannister. Those look much cleaner and more integrated imo.

      Definite weak point, and a bad design, really. GM canceled the Avalanche for a reason...they were unpopular (aside from a cult few who loved them) and weren't selling. Can't believe they chose to bring it back in EV form here. I have a neighbor a few doors down who has an Avalanche. He loves it, but admits the mid-gate and rear window are a constant problem, and it leaks pretty much every single time it rains. He ended up buying another Silverado so his wife wouldn't have to smell the mold from the Avalanche being constantly wet and musty. And once you add the Florida heat, it fogs up...from the inside!!

    I like the buttons, it doesn't make me shift my head to the central console to change anything like tesla. Going away entirely of buttons is a such a bad idea. See how I need to increase / decrease AC temp, I need to use the central console in Tesla, but with buttons it makes it so easier.... I dont like the clutter of buttons but few functional buttons are extremely useful.

    As a previous truck owner, this familiar truck is VERY enticing. Just wish CT kept closer to it's original specs and pricing. I think that would have made it an obvious choice over this. Now, trucks like this one will be a strong challenger instead. I'd still choose the CT, but will always crave for that 500+ mi and that price that was promised at the reveal.😪

    I love my CT and also love my F-150 Lightning. Milage? anywhere you drive u have a dc fast charger withing 250 miles radius, and I live in Rural Texas. no need for a very big range IMO. The tonneau cover is an add on, almost all u showed are add on accessories, and the price! omg. Yes it has a luxurious feel on the inside but so does my Lightning, and honestly I prefer the simplistic look and functionality and futuristic appeal of the CT.

    I like the look of the GMC version more than the Chevy, but I still hate that they basically made an Avalanche EV. The truck would be SO much better if they lost the stupid mid-gate, the glass roof (adds more useless weight, lets in tons of heat in hot climates, will eventually leak, compromises cab integrity, and eats headroom), the lumpy plastic in the frunk, and the idiotic animations and piped-in noise. I kind of hate the 24" wheels, too, and suspect with 20s you'd get even better range and a better ride.
    The interior design is pretty good, although a bit cheap, and the 2nd row is now useless for my dogs or any cargo I'd want to put there because of the stupid mid-gate. But the range...that's just amazing! Best thing about this truck by far. The most ironic thing about this truck, though? It's an electric truck...with cheap plastic running boards stapled onto the sides. Literally every full-size ICE truck on the road, mid-trim and up, have electric running boards. But no electric running boards on this electric truck? That's just stupid.
    Speaking of stupid, the price is insane, but I guess that's how much top-of-the-line ICE trucks go for, as well as Cybertruck, etc. And that's without the inevitable greed-gouging the dealers are going to add to it before sale.
    Still, it's nice to see GM field a solid EV truck for people to consider.

    funny - GM looses money on every sale of it's EV. They can't build EV's profitable yet! thus your not comparing apples to apples. in fact, we don't even know if GMC will put this truck into full production without cancelling it.

      You really think Tesla is selling the cyberturd at a profit?

    • @dvader3263
      @dvader3263 2 місяці тому +1

      That's one way to say it. "GM loses money on every sale of it's EV" when discussing an investment in a new vehicle.
      A manufacturer might spend 2 billion dollars developing a new vehicle. So, with any brand new model, they're 2 billion dollars in the hole when the first one rolls off of the assembly line and until it is sold.
      When the second one rolls off of the line and is sold, they've lost 1 billion dollars on each one of the first two.
      Until they start selling enough vehicles to pay for the money invested in development, any new vehicle model will be a loser.
      They need to sell 20,000 or 30,000 vehicles or more at $100,000 for each vehicle to start turning a profit.
      Or they need to sell 40,000 or 50,000 vehicles or more of them at a lower price to start turning a profit.

    • @Jeroenneman
      @Jeroenneman Місяць тому

      @@dvader3263 No. They will lose money on every single one of these. It's not about upfront costs. It's about the fact they resorted to putting in a 200kWh pack. It's just brute forcing range. Which directly impacts everything, like suspension, tires, structural integrity. Every single unit they sell loses GM more money.
