The number of times I've heard W11 users waiting for and hacking things to get back features I still have in W10 is hilarious. I still haven't figured out why I would upgrade just for a centered taskbar, neutered start menu, and rounded edge windows. It was a relief when the upgrade tool told my I couldn't upgrade my three year old computer.

@@excalligator5529 Yes. And keep those VMs offline. Just like isolating malware. I use a lite mod of Windows too with all the BS removed. It is known as Phoenix Lite OS. I use that should I by some miracle need Windows. That is next to never. But when I do, I use that mod in a VM with GPU pass through configured. And for extra measure, keep the VM offline so that I maintain complete control. All on top of my Linux system.
To me, that is the only way to use Windows and have actual control over the OS.

Windows 11 is a lot more than a centred taskbar tho. Yes, some features are still missing, but nothing too bad.
Personally, I use both a Windows 10 and a Windows 11 machine, but to be completely honest, I prefer using windows 11.
It looks way nicer, and after using it for a while I have gotten quite used to it. Small stuff like tabs in file explorer is honestly quite useful.
The fact that you can adjust it even more with these "hacks" just makes the experience even better.

There is something wrong with putting the start button in the center for non 100% touchscreen users. Putting it in the corner makes the button 1000x bigger because you can just blindly move your mouse there. Same with the minimize everything button on the bottom right.

If you push your mouse down and left it WILL hit the start button just like doing the opposite will close any maximized window. Corners are GOD in UI design for that reason. Oversimplified icons is the most frustrating thing. And it doesn't matter what I do, Windows 11 doubles the watts. Windows 10 needs half the power, so I will just stick to 10. I wish we had an evolution of 7 and not 8 today. 11 just makes the same mistakes. Getting annoying. Oversimplifying and make it much worse. Doing something new and just f*ck up. Designers today are just idiots. The Xbox Dashboard isn't much better. But that started with the last 2 updates of the 360 Dashboard. Flat, boring, not good to see where I actually want to navigate to, it's just stupid. But I see why they want to stick with the Win10 Dashboard, 11 would just f*ck up even more, that flat oversimplified Design would be even much worse than it is now.
And there is one more: the buttons in 11 are not sharp enough if scaled. It was good before, now they don't use proper graphics or vector or whatever it was anymore.

I walked up to my Win 10 machine after a few days of non-use, and found it updating the BIOS! Before, I had successfully declined the Windows 11 upgrade 'suggestions' and thought I was safe. I most certainly did not ask for an upgrade and I rarely use this machine. (I live alone) After many minutes of "do not turn off the PC" messages, I was disoriented, eventually finding I had Windows 11. This was a forced upgrade without my permission and I'm very angry about it. This is why my important machines will NEVER see the Internet. I spend a lot of precious time getting my computers the way I want them to work and don't want some remote, unprincipled jerk making unwelcome changes.

@@dreaper2087 So we're resorting to bashing people's preferences? Who cares if it's not supported? You know what's not supported? Linux in a wide variety of applications. I'm not lazy, I just simply prefer Vista more than I ever would Linux. I don't care if Vista is no longer officially supported, with extended kernel and extended security updates, I get more use out of it than 7 does to this day. Vista simply works for me, and I'm happy with that. If Linux works for you, that's great too. I'm not going to bash/attack what you think because it works for you.
P.S. Unsupported operating systems don't just connect to the internet and download viruses on start up...at the end of the day, the best security is knowledge and I DO happen to know what I'm doing when it comes to using computers. Several anti-viruses still work too, and even if you check the Microsoft Knowledge Base for their extended security updates, the security flaws outlined in the updates are either none at all, or VERY specific scenarios in workstations that just don't apply to me. So even if I was left "unsecure," it's not like the current security updates do much good for me anyway because they don't amount in terms of serious security flaws.
