So I’m gonna say I found this so simple to understand, idk why but all the videos I have watched on wetblending have just confused me but for some reason this one just clicked. And now I have a great idea for my templars power swords. This is my first space marine army, following what you laid out with a yellow glow and red lighting I’m excited to try it and see how it works.
This is great! I've been struggling with transitions on my red energy blades but this technique with Flesh Tearer's Red made it so easy. Thanks for the tutorial!
I love the idea here. I’ve been struggling with the GW method and I have all these paints so I will definitely be giving it a try. Looks a lot easier than painting 5 layers of thinned sotek green!
A little late, but I just tried it and it works great! It’s not an *easy* technique, getting my first wet blend done was tricky, but before the contrast even went on it had the effect! Had to take the plunge and just try it, I learn that more and more with the hobby. Gotta stop worrying about messing something up and just learn from my mistakes.
Great to hear! With this hobby it's best to just dive in and try, best way to learn in my opinion. And yes, a *perfect* wet blend isn't easy, but you don't have to be perfect here because the contrast over the top really dulls the transition, meaning you don't have to be perfect with the blend.
I tried it like you did but my talassar blue is a lot darker. More like a real blue and not this light blue. Even on the bright parts of the underground. I mixed it 50:50 with contrast medium like you said. Maybe I have to thin it a bit more?! Or maybe it's through your camera that it looks more bright.
Hmm, not really sure what to say to help. The image on the thumb is pretty true to real life. I've applied some matte varnish so the video is a little more vibrant than it is now. Was at the hobby store today and all the Talassar Blues look the same. If you go over to my Instagram page you can see more images of them, like this one: instagram.com/p/CM5ZXlUHbpu/
