Kevin Bacon Breaks Down His Most Iconic Characters | GQ - Розваги
"I'm not afraid of playing anything"
I 100% believe him
10:10 Bacon sizzles lol
Sean would be well-suited to star in (and/or direct) a true story of an American recently locked up in Thailand for over a year on bogus charges. It's articulated in the book titled: '1 Pill = 28 Years.' Part of the story shows how US's DEA is intrinsically entwined in putting tens of thousands of poor brown-skinned SE Asian hill tribers into prisons for decades each - for victimless and/or petty crimes.
Kevin is one of those astonishingly versatile actors that makes you scratch your head over why he hasn't won more industry awards. He's 100% believable as a villain and as a hero. And he seems like a genuinely nice guy to boot.
He's like another Kurt Russell. He's been in tons of amazing movies and makes acting look easy. But for whatever reason doesn't have much hardware to show for it.
What he said about Jack Nicholson : He just has no fear about how it will be perceived. Bacon has absolutely taken the same approach and that's what you gotta do.
I’ll never forget the prison guard in “the Sleepers”...He’s a great actor
he made me hate him so much in that movie!! haha
I was in love with him in everything else but this movie lol
@@rha5120 same
Oh you had the meat loaf...
@@rha5120 hahah same here.
Nokes is one of the most disgusting and evil characters I've ever seen in any movie. That part where the boys shoot him 7 times in the diner is so satisfying to watch. All credit to Kevin for making such a memorable and chilling impression.
But doesn't that scene happen before we see any abuse?
@@wingerding No. The first half of the movie is them as boys and we do get to see or the heavily insinuate the abuse. So when we see the tables turn at that bar later, it makes it that much satisfying.
@@bleklecat275 thanks I remembered it being like the first scene for whatever reason
one of billy's best roles before almost famous--- you could tell he was first echelon - never really got his due in tinseltown
He acted so good I hated him lol....
The fact that they didn't cast professional dancers for the original Footloose is part of what makes it awesome.
Exactly. The remake sucked. That movie came out when they were still trying to make Julianne Hough an actress. She's a phenomenal dancer, but acting is not her thing.
it came across more genuine. truly looked like regular people that just loved dancing and simply could do well enough in following the beat and rhythm. So it easily resonates more with the audience than seeing professionals doing these choreograph dancers that you would never see happen in real life.
I have refused to watch the remake. I find it highly irritating that they keep trying to remake so many classic movies. They are just destroying them. Leave the classics alone.
@@hisbean it's actually pretty good. I liked it.
Iconic 80's and it reflected the true spirit of the times and the dancing was duplicated at many of our midwestern country gravel road parties. I love that movie and the music.
How tf is this guy 61 yrs old??? He looks amazing!
twonner2 dude right??!!
He's got the "Bacon"! xD
His voice sounds so youthful as well he's so handsome.
He could play Keanu's older cousin.
Money. There are a lot of treatments that can keep you looking youthful and Kevin Bacon can afford them all.
That scene in Mystic River is the hardest piece of cinema I have ever watched. The shock, grief and horror juxtaposition with Bacon's stillness is just too real. In my opinion, it is one of the most charged scenes in the history of film making. And nothing about it is gratuitous. The scene holds us for a moment - to actually experience the nightmare that life can present - just in case we are too asleep in our everyday trivialities and forget how precious love and life really is.
Great movie and should've won best picture.
Sean Penn was excellent and it's tough watch.
Yes mystic river rips my heart apart 😢
A Few Good Men was great for all talent involved. Never gets old.
Caine Mutiny Court Martial is better
Sleepers is such an underrated movie.
Yea it’s really a sleeper
@@ethanhamm3823 I see what u did there (;
Kevin Bacon had effectively played "Sean Nokes" well when he had been in scenes with the younger actors like Brad Renfro.
Good movie. Not great, because of adult shakes. Fck him
Great movie
Soon he'll be perfectly seasoned to play Jim Gordon in a Batman film.
already is imo
They could’ve put him in the character of Reverend Moore in the Footloose remake.
He would be perfect.
I'd pay to see that!
this comment makes me wet over the idea of kevin as young jim gordon as a police comissioner justifying batman's vigilante'ism is rightous... while hes dealing with batman killing criminals.... like... id watch a batman movie that chases batman until gordon realizes batman is a neccesary evil.... that movie sounds amazing
Can’t believe “She’s Having a Baby” wasn’t mentioned. He was absolutely hilarious in that one. Kevin is a master of all genres. He’s great with comedy, drama, action, horror, you name it. Should have a few statues on his shelf!
Beauty shop is his funniest role
I know he has done so many great movies and I absolutely love She’s having a baby ❤
The scene when he is in the waiting room ... And the song starts ... And he cry's ... I still cry at that scene. He can do it ALL!
The sheer amount of iconic movies this man has been in is amazing. I wish they'd done Murder in the First (1995) as well. That's got to be his best dramatic performance of all time, and it's entirely underrated.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that can’t figure out why they wouldn’t have included Murder in the First in the selection. It’s so haunting that it’s typically my first thought when I hear his name.
Weird how that movie flew completely under the radar. It's got an all-star cast.
Agreed
I agree. He was brilliant in that!
Kevin Bacon is one of my favorite actors. He's so underrated

My kids love it
I legit thought he was saying "Trevors" the whole time 😂😂 (was watching PIP on my phone and didn't see the name)
Totally agree. I love Tremors. It's one the greatest adventure/action movies ever. All the sequels are great too. Burt Gummer is such a cool and funny dude.

Unbelievable!
Again everybody forgets the best Kevin Bacon movie ever made!
" Stir of echoes", is the one movie critics avoided, and interviewers won't ask question about, but it truly is some of the best acting Kevin ever did, and should never have been left out of this show!
I wonder how much orange juice he actually drank making that movie
YES, mine too!!! Exceptional, brilliant performance by Kevin.
That movie bombed because of another movie that came out immediately after. The movie: the 6th sense!!!!!😢
He almost lost me in Sleepers. Sleepers woke me up and made me just worry about teenagers in juvenile detention centers.
Lol thanks for your love and support💙💙.
He is ageing gracefully. He looks so good. Wow
A good head of hair and a lean body goes a long way.
was about to comment the same. i hope i look that good in 20.
@Jabroney Nah. I don't see plastic surgery.
He is still hot.
He's had a great career, a true actor not just celebrity. I also admire him for his family life. Never read about scandals or his kids being messed up.
FYI: their daughter is on a few episodes of The Closer with her mom.
Except for losing a significant portion of his whole family’s life savings through Bernie Madoff.
One degree of escandalo!
Lol thanks for your love and support💙💙.
I think his daughter is in ‘Mare of Easttown’? She’s amazing! She plays the ‘junky mom’ troupe but you can feel that she loves her son in the role. She conveys a lot of heart - maybe she’s KB/Kyra’s kid?
I found it interesting when he was talking about Barry Levinson being one of the only directors that he's worked with more than once. But he has earned his credibility and seems like a good guy who doesn't forget that he used to be a dishwasher catching the bus to go do a theater performance.
He should have been recognized by the Academy for Sleepers. He was criminally underrated in that film. His character, Sean Nokes, was one of the most evil characters I've ever seen on screen before and Mr. Bacon played him perfectly!
I agree! That film as a whole was robbed of several awards! That cast was stacked! And the fact that it's not more recognized is a shame! I will say it's tough to watch but it's so good!
Even though he was the tormentor, you could see the torment in his own eyes, particularly as older Nokes.
One of the few actors that started young and only became a better person. It's really hard not to like Kevin bacon. He's become a national treasure
Every other actor in one of these iconic characters videos: 12-16 mins
Kevin Bacon going over his iconic characters: 37 mins and cut out a dozen of them.
That's cuz he talked for fifteen minutes between each movie
He’s so right when he said, there’s a difference between actors and celebrities. So true. And you act so well Kevin 😊
Kevin is so underrated in being known as being underrated. So many actors, not half as good, are underrated. He’s so much better at being underrated than them. But he’s so underrated ... is my point.
Kevin Bacon is literally one of the most amazing actors ever.
Midnight Club Still Cancelled Soz but Midnight Club is still canceled soz

Keanu Reeves: Yes he is
Liturally like liturally 🤡
How could you forget “She’s Having A Baby”?!?
That’s the role I fell in love with him over, he was absolutely adorable.
I remember doing the "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" game with friends all the way back in the 90's. He's had quite the film career!
Can someone tell me why this man doesn’t have an Oscar? He’s an amazing actor.
He's game for anything.
He doesn't need one...
The studios didn't pay for one.
Tommy Lee Jones won for the fugitive instead of Ralph Fiennes in Shindlers List. That pretty much deranks meaning the oscars have.
He deserves that oscar taking chance would have bee the film to get it for him to if it hadnt been a tv movie
Just a tiny mention for the very underrated Stir of Echoes
That was a great movie. Sad that they didn't talk about it in the video.
That and Murder in the First
Geek Hut That’s a surprising omission too
Yes and I was hoping for a "White Water Summer" mention, He is over the top in it and it works, but it was a great kids flick.
But I also went on some survival trips as a kid like that.
Sixth Sense killed that movie, real shame
My favourite quote of his is "Its easy to get laid when you famous, the goal is to achieve it when you unknown" ...He is aging so gracefully, so cool. So humble. A legend.

his character on Sleepers was so convincing I actually hated the real Kevin Bacon for a while hahaha the way he broke it down to how he takes on any role shows his dedication to the craft, class actor for sure.
I was like that for the woodsman. He did a great job humanising his character, which I found so unsettling and disturbing. That movies after feels stayed with me for a long time. He acted it brilliantly and I almost hated him for humanising that character because I didn’t want to feel or understand his character.
Dude for sure
Imo, his best acting.
I'll always remember him as Noaks lol, he just had that look about him that suited the role so well, especially in the revenge scene.
Woah...I hadn't seen that Mystic River scene since becoming a father of a daughter. Really felt his pain...tears...
Kevin Bacon is such an amazing actor! Whether he's carrying a film by himself or he's part of ensemble cast, Bacon always gives 110 percent of himself!
He's had such an incredible diverse career covering all sorts of genres, yet now he's selling phone contracts for EE.
Here's hoping we see him in more movies as he's such a great actor.
Why has this man never been nominated at the very least for an Oscar?
Lol thanks for your love and support💙💙.
Because the Oscars are silly and subjective. Hillary Swank has TWO Oscars and Myrna Loy, Carole Lombard, Glenn Close never won any.
Footloose was about high school kids in a town that banned dancing. Professional dancers in the new one made zero sense.

Kevin starts playing with his ring just before mentioning how his wife influenced his choice of roles in A Few Good Men. I have long argued that actors (Men and Women) are the greatest observers of human behavior; and here we see Kevin providing the "tell" in his behavior of instinctively touching his ring to give his wife credit for that role choice before verbalizing it, brilliant!
Awesome catch, so interesting!
So glad he talked about "Friday the 13th". Many major stars don't like to acknowledge their horror past!
