Slim Jim for bait? Well... I do know that bluegill are hungry all the time when the sun is out. When I first started fishing when I was very young, I started catching bluegill using chunks of wonder bread all balled up on a #8 hook.
I have not even watched the video... But c'mon, its beef jerky, why the hell wouldn't they eat it!! Just watched the video and yup, they fans of jerky as well. Wonder if they'd go for some Tabasco flavored jerky. Maybe not because of the flavor but the extra spices might dilute into the water better
Been using Slim Jim's for years. The question really is whether the particular flavor makes a difference...

I tried crabbing with slim Jim’s one day. I’m like they are oily and meaty. Actually ended up catching about 4 decent size keepers on slim Jim’s lol

Yes it does I had to give it a try. I used to catch them on hot dogs and I can’t ever resist beef jerky so I figured neither could bluegill. Ha
