Thanks guys for watching! Make sure to comment down below if I missed anything and why these trucks are so awesome!
1. They’re bad ass
2.they’re bad ass
3.they’re bad ass
4. They’re bad ass
5. Like I said above they’re bad ass
Big big facts!
I mean dodge was the only brand to put a v8 in a “mini” truck
Very true!
This guy touching his perfect 2nd Gen Ram dash.
Me: nervous sweat.
🤗
You ain’t lying brother, I tossed my iPhone 13 up on my dashboard and it went through the thing.. literally. Ended up taking an hour to fish it out 😂😂
I resented my 96 and 2001 1500’s for years because my Chevy and Ford loving friends talked smack. But I still have both of my trucks. As for the fords and chevys...🤡
Me too man! I remember the high school days lol
Picked up a 2nd gen 1500 5.9 last year with 66,000 miles! Front end is in need of some tightening up to rid the death wobble and the 4x4 actuator needs to be replaced since it’s extra noisy when driving. Beastly truck!!
There great trucks! Besides the gas mileage lol
Great work. Keep adding more updates.
Thanks Jeff!
Love the vids keep up the good work bro
Thanks man! Appreciate it
Subscribed I already loved this build and now that I know your from minnesota hopefully I'll get lucky and see it on the road🤘🤘
Big big facts! We also will post what car shows and drag events were going to!
One more thing I'd like to add, I was the victim of a drunk driver, the bastard hit me head on and the estimated impact speed was over 70 mph, the truck saved my life and took the other guy's...I was in my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 LB and I was in the process of restoring it, JUST PAID LMC TRUCK for a new dash kit! Fate is funny tho, now I'm drivin' a 2021 Toyota Tundra, my next favorite truck
That’s crazy man! Glad you okay
I love your videos , I've fixed or replaced all the things you said already so you're very right. I also replaced the check valve for the trans cooler with a inline filter and cooler. Only two things I've noticed that not allot of people look for in these trucks are the harmonic balancers on these love to come apart the 318 and 360 both I had mine come apart and eat through my timing cover. my timing chain had the same amount of slack I got a video of it still. The other issue is the 3-4 accumulator spring breaks in the transmissions frequently and most people never know it comes with the solenoid kit these are good transmissions when installed and maintained correctly.
Totally forgot about the check valve! That would of been a good one. Btw love the blue on your 2nd gen
@@RacingRamFam appreciate it that's my favorite color pb3 intense blue. I like those mopar valve covers I know those are pretty expensive. Seriously though keep uploading. Ive watched allot of youtubers over the years grow from a small to huge channels. I can tell you guys will make it, keep it up thanks for the videos. I can't wait to see y'all make it!
Thank you! And I love the look of the mopar performance valve covers
Don't forget to mention the ECU goin out and needing to be rebuilt. I've had a couple in Rams but most of the time the Durangos did it.
Very true!
My grandpa used to own an older, want to say 70s dodge pick up with a 318, but was fitted with a 360 cam. It could pull a 27 foot trailer like it was nothing.
Don’t forget the lovely heater core
I have a 2000 2500 5 speed with the 5.9. I love the thing. I also had a 2001 1500. I don’t know what it is about 2nd gens but they are my favorite
Me too man!
Mine to
Im subscribed.
Another 2nd gens are the greatest.
Big facts! Thanks man
Nice 2nd Gen and I love my 5.9 3rd gen
Great vid. Again. So my truck has now achieved 4 out of 5 on problem list. Dash is great shape. Trans goes back in next week. 292k on orig. 5.9 magnum.
There beast engines! Who’s working on your trans?
@@RacingRamFam Hanover Transmission here in PA. Going to have shift kit and dif torque converter
Trans go 👀 they make a good one
@@RacingRamFam Cool. I'll make that happen. Thanks much on the tip.
Oh yes!
2nd gen Ram 1500, 360 V8.....most durable 1/2 ton pickup truck produced, period. I see at least one every day up here in Cambridge, MN. They will rust apart before they quit running.
Very true!
I've had 3 problems on my 98 3500, 360.
1st was the plenum gasket, fixed with mopar steel gasket.
2nd was the throughout bearing, as there spring loaded against the pressure plate at all times.
3rd was front o2 sensors, ran like shit with no engine light on.
Took me a little while to figure out.
Other than that, great trucks
Also death wobble is the result of improper alignment. Loose parts will let it happen easier, but not necessarily the cause.
Another problem is I live in michigan, and rust never sleeps.
About all hydraulic operated throwout bearings are spring loaded against the pressure plate. And yes rust eats them away very fast 💨 thanks man!
Just bought my 1995 Ram with a rebuild engine...what a beast..slow but has a lot of potential 😁
Yes!
Keep em coming! I enjoyed it and I drive a Ford. 😂
Lol 😂
2:42 I'm dead 😂💯
Know of any quality aftermarket intake manifolds? I hate the stock one and would love to find one that doesnt require much to make work
Hughes dual plane is the only bolt in style one atm
Does the second gen 1500 and the 2500 5.9 v8 magnums have the same issues?
Ima turbo mine but tune it for towing
My 96 1500 is gonna stay stock but I love to see someone do what I would love to experiment with if I had the cash 🤣
Do it! It’s fun man modifying these trucks
@@RacingRamFam I'm mechanically smart and could understand how to do everything with the engine but dont have any of the tools and space or else I would, until that's happens I'll be watching you guys !
Question, can I take out said governor?
One day after buying one for $1200.... "5 things to know BEFORE buying..... " Wonderful! /s XD!!! EDIT: Awesome video, thanks for making it : )
Thank you!
I have a 1997 5.9 360
It recently started building back pressure
No coolant in oil . The only issue is the coolant level keeps dropping. I check the oil daily no coolant in oil. Replaced water pump , replaced oil pump , thermostat , intake manifold gaskets, radiator was also replaced with a brand new on. I flush I also added bars leak copper and aluminum before the new parts replaced the old. I also ran Pennzoil coolant radiator heater core hose wash through the cooling system . it still has back. Pressure problems. Any idea what and why it's doing this . I
Back pressure??? I don’t understand what you mean by that
What's a good aftermarket intake I can use without changing much
Only one complete bolt on one and that’s the Hughes one
Where can I get that transmission pressure sensor and solenoid kit ?
I got mine from ebay
That was my friend jimmy that destroyed that second gen dash at 3:22 lmao
😂
Lol my ram had no top of the dash, just bought a pretty mint one for $30 today 😅
NiceB
Where did you get that aftermarket intake manifold for the 5.9?
Hughes performance
@@RacingRamFam thank you sir
There intake manifolds suckkkk I figured that out quick when I got my 5.9 lol
Big big facts lol
My dash is terrible. Can't even put the bezel on it.. Good luck finding a replacement around here ( Oklahoma) . every 2nd gen dodge around these parts have got that carpet dash😂..
Dam 😂 that’s crazy
Just look on the internet bud lol. Not hard at all. Many placement dashes on there for sale
@@krytiqll i see the shell ones. Like an overlay. I need a full dash with the retainer holes and everything. The dealership wanted 1k to reinstall. I would install myself but it was in the 700 range if i bought it from them.. If you know a good site, pass it on and i would be appreciative for sure!
Damn I've NEVER seen a 2nd gen dodge without a cracked dash! But i live in New Mexico where it's hot and dry AF
I got a mint one really
Mine only has 2 small cracks (mint)
People say the dodge 318 cannot make horsepower I beg to differ LOL
Yes!
Lets link up and build that 5.9!!!
What’s the plan 👀
@@RacingRamFam bore, heads, cam, new pistons and rings, then slap your turbo set up on it !!! These motors are so easy to build !!
Big facts!
3 min 22 seconds the clip is of my buddy smashing his dash out
I have a '99 Dodge ram 4x4 sport with a 5.9 and I love it I'm actually in the rebuild from top to bottom from front to rear I have one raced machined block and one stock block in my machined block I'm going to buy a Hughes engines 426 hemi sized stroker kit then I'm going to ProCharge it and I have to go on it is an M1 4 barrel Mopar intake that's been drilled for fuel injected. how much horsepower are you guys think I'm going to get? This is my first time buying a 426 hemi size stroker kit for a 5.9 Magnum motor
And be honest with you guys I called my truck Chuck Norris cuz yes I am from Texas
That’s a awesome name! And what compression ratio and size cam? And how much boost from the procharger?
@@RacingRamFam well I'll be honest with you dude this is the first time putting one of those stroker kits and a pro charger on I normally just natural aspirated with a 408 stroker kit but the stroker kit that I'm looking at is a 9:9:1 compression and I don't know what Cam I'm going with right now Plus I just switched jobs from working at a Mopar AutoNation to a diesel fleet company so I'm kind of low on money so it's been taking me a while to order parts but I wouldn't mind tips and hints that would help me out because I'm going for max horsepower and torque
What heads are you going to run? I really like trick flows aluminum heads
@@RacingRamFam Edelbrock heads that's been maxed CNC and ported and polished from hipotek what would you recommend
Would that governor make the transmission act sluggish?
What do you mean by sluggish?
@@RacingRamFam no power when you start off in drive
@@oldcroneysgarage9739 oh ya sounds like it’s in limp in mode starting in 2nd. I would scan it and read codes
hell yee
I have a 8.0 V10. 118k miles
Nice!
What's your opinion on new ram trucks.
5th gen or 4th gen?
Expensive but are super nice. 5th gen are much better than 4th gen.
@@RacingRamFam 5th gen.
Exhaust manifold crack only issues I’ve really had with them! Idk how I feel about the body style tho
I bought a 96 dodhe like new 72000 miles
That’s awesome!
How did you fix the death wobble
Trac bar
@@RacingRamFam i changed that. Ball joints and hubs. But I only get a little wobble from 35 to 45 mph. And it's every time not just occasionally. No bumps needed
Tires are balanced. Only thing not done is alignment
@@codyredder538 get a alignment then!
That’s nice now you can’t drive your truck in the rain 🌧
Bet
Bet my 5.9 is burning oil I'm pretty sure it's the plenum too and mine has 255k runs like a top though
Hey me tooo my 5.9s at 258k!
@@RacingRamFam they're great motors mine just likes to burn oil in high rpms lol
you guys are in detroit right? You guys got an insta so we can chat for a bit
No Minnesota and ya it’s racingramfam!
My dodge has 120,000 and it's a 2001
Where is fluffy?
Being cameraman 🎥
@@RacingRamFam nice
He will be in more if the next video
He’s not a big fan of being in these types of videos
Number 1 death wobble
Number 2 rust
Number 3 chrysler autos suck ass.
Number 4 anything other than a 3.92 or 4.10 rear gears are gutless.
Number 5 gas guzzler.
Number 6 the dash.
Number 7 electrical issues.
Number 8 I really like trucks.
And around were I live they are dirt cheap.
Very true!!
Dodge cones with a dash? What
I know lol 😂
The only thing I hated with my 1500 was the Dana 44, my intent is to Dana 60 swap the front and rear end, but then the transfer case becomes the weak link…
I like the Dana 44 and the stock transfer case handled 950ish hp
lmfao "they do sell upgrade parts... like GM parts" lol thats exactly y i like simply starting with n entire vehicle made of GM parts lol if anybody wants to trade, i basically have the same truck thats in the video, mines a little better.. for pretty much any GM pickup lol im not even jokin, i fuckin hate my dodge, the rest of my trucks r GM, but the 2 pickups r apart in the middle of serious rebuilds n the suburban isnt a pickup..lol i need a bed for work n fourwheelers n dirtbikes.. the trucks a 99 4x4 5.9 gas 4 door, it starts drives steers shifts stops.. nothings really wrong with it.. i just Hate dodge im around baltimore a little north
Dodges version of vtac lol.... is someone in the medical field?
Lol no mechanic field
