    My Dodge'Catbed Slant-Six & 318/360 vehicles ran forever with ZEEEERO issues other than your basic stuff...
    You can fix any issue under a tree or at your local auto parts.

    First off, I am tremendously jealous of your Daytona... I have always wanted one, but the ones I find aren't worth the cost. Secondly, I came across your channel while looking up a fix for my 2nd gen, and your content is informative, to the point, and actually interesting, unlike so many others that just want views, so, congratulations, I am a subscriber. I soon will be falling down the rabbit hole on your Shelby build.

    Man, you wont believe this. I finally my 01 ram sorted out. I was having an idle issue after startup. Last week I noticed something while changing o2 sensors. The muffler put on by prev. owner was stamped "inlet" on the end closest to the rear diff., w/an arrow pointing towards the front of the truck. I'm sure you know where I'm going w/this. Took the piping apart, turned the muffler around to face the right direction. Cold start.....problem seems solved, truck idles 95% better that before. I feel kind of dumb for not noticing this sooner, I spent a lot of time working on the truck around, under, and near the muffler working on different things.....seems if a muffler with offset inlet and outlets is put on backwards, the back pressure is increased, affecting idle(rough idle, barely stayed running).

      My truck a ground squirrel chewed on the wiring harness and it off the map sensor connector pigtail and it has not ran since.... before because of the same ground squirrel or squirrels chewed on the injector cylinder 7 connector pigtail it would run but had a definite miss... and it is aggravating one because the truck ran strong for a magnum 318 before that happened, and two this truck is not all hacked up under the hood the ac is factory and it even worked it's connector pigtail is brittle so it is getting swapped out with a OEM used decent Dakota V8 connector so it should be fine.... And i have had several people tell me that the truck should still run, well do they know that the map sensor connector pigtail shares the ground wire in the harness with the tps sensor fuel pump relay and crank sensor so id say that is why it doesn't run currently.

  • @notsigningupforshit

    It may be measuring the delta b/w Sensor 1 and Sensor 2...if they are too far apart it may trigger a light off Sensor 2. Did you clear the codes after you swapped out the Sensor? My M3 has two O2 simulators downstream that sway b/w .9 and 1.1 volts to simulate the actions of the catalytic converter. Looks like yours just sits at 1.0 Volt. Not sure if you know but, in a pinch, you can cycle the key on-off-on-off-on and your check engine light will flash fault codes. So, if you're out and about and it starts acting up and you don't have the scanner handy...you can at least find out if it's a repeat offender. I'm guessing the rough idle is off Sensor 1, and the CEL is off Sensor 2 because it didn't track with Sensor 1 when its voltage dropped out of range. Just a guess.

    • @TheMoparGarage
      @TheMoparGarage  Рік тому +1

      So, Sensor 2 is the downstream o2 so it doesn’t exist anymore because I don’t have a cat. The sensor 2 code is still prevalent, but that’s always going to be there. Or at least it should be…in reality, for whatever reason, it took this truck several months to realize it was missing and throw a light. Only the California emissions trucks have 2 upstream o2’s. I cleared the codes post video, but I expect the CEL to come back on once it goes through another cycle for the downstream sensor.
      I COULD very well be wrong on this, but I’m pretty sure that the key cycle code check trick didn’t start until 2000 when they upgraded the electronics in the cluster.

    • @notsigningupforshit
      @notsigningupforshit Рік тому +2

      @@TheMoparGarage Was the upstream o2 acting up before the CEL kicked on? I'm guessing the ECU - sorry I'm assuming it's custom or aftermarket is programmed to ignore or just set the downstream to 1 volt so it will appear to the ECU it's there, but since it doesn't cycle back and forth it will set the code, but never turn the CEL on. Yeah, I'd be curious to know if after it goes through its drive cycle will the CEL kick back on. I suspect that the upstream acting as it should, will keep the CEL from coming on. I'm not sure what that up-stream o2 voltage should be. My '09 Dakota with the 4.7 V8 has four (4) two pre-cat and two post-cat before the exhaust comes together...but unlike the M3 who also has four (4)...they all function for the gov't nannies 😁. I learned that the hard way when I bought two o2's to change while I was in there changing the 16 plugs on the truck and found out I had four but had to get the truck back together before the end of the weekend, so decided to hold off until I pull the trigger on the other two. I'm not sure on the 99 RAM 1500's, but I can tell you that key cycle works for all my Turbo Dodges 85 thru 87, and it also works on my 92 Dakota with the 5.2 Magnum. Hopefully you don't hear anymore from it and it runs like the beast it is!!

    • @TheMoparGarage
      @TheMoparGarage  Рік тому +1

      @@notsigningupforshit I have no idea what the upstream was doing pre CEL, sometimes I don’t think the truck did either 😂 ECU is stock, the computer must just default to 1V when the downstream sensor is unplugged. I’m sure the CEL will come back on once it runs a cycle but it shouldn’t effect the way it runs I wouldn’t think. Hopefully she keeps running well, who knows with this thing! I have had it “fixed” before and it went back to its old ways so I’m just holding my breath. If the key cycle works in all of those older Mopars, I am sure it does in this one too!

      It’s always tough to diagnose without a check engine light…kind of strange it only seems to do it under a load. The 5.2 and 5.9 are known for intake plenum gaskets going bad, I’d maybe start there. Shine a light down the throttle body and see if there is oil build up in the intake manifold

    I have a similar problem mines a 98 1500 at idle she sometimes dips to 500 rpm which makes it idle rough and sometimes when I’m driving and I come to a stop it will shoot from 500 to 700 and will usually stay around 700. And when accelerating usually from 0 - 60 kmh the rpms fluctuate and causes a miss fire. It seems fine long as if I’m above 1500 - 2000 rpm it operates just fine.
