These challenges are epic! But I’ve got to say unless you’re Batman Arkham Videos who’s basically the Arkham God himself you usually play with detective mode on at least 70% of the time so taking it away makes things soooooo difficult… (Yes I’ve attempted this challenge for the 4 games and it drove me crazy-)
14:59 I’m surprised you didn’t know this since you’ve watched so many speed runs of this game, but there actually is no “right” chopper with the code during Protocol 10. It’s ALWAYS the 6th one you scan. I learned that funnily enough from watching a speed run.
That's not what I was saying. I had already scanned the final chopper I needed to, meaning there was now a correct chopper. If you look in Detective Mode after scanning the final chopper, it has a different highlight than all the others. This highlight is the only indication of which chopper you need to latch onto, there isn't one outside Detective Mode. So, if I had lost this chopper in the chaos, it would have been very difficult for me to find it again.
I cannot get over how GOOD the mr.freeze boss fight is On my first ever play through of this game, I was ACTUALLY SCARED to fight him. I’m not joking, when I finally won I had to calm down afterwards because my legs were shaking so much.
You should play origins if you haven't because the final fight was like this for me, my brother always had to do it and I remember the first time I did it myself my friends were watching and we were all scared and excited
I've done little challenges recently where I try to beat every arkham game casually in less than 24 hours (it sounds dumb because it is dumb) and playing in the dark was such a pain to my eyes. Return to arkham city was rough with DM and every investigation in asylum with the flashes just killed me.

I thought of a theoretical and potential way to use Smoke Pellets without getting forced into Detective Mode. Theoretical being maybe that if you're quick enough or do the right move such as a (I think it's called a Combat Roll) to get yourself enough distance in a short amount time, you can get yourself out of the smoke before it puts you into Detective Mode. Potential being that when you need to use it, instead of quickfiring it, equip the Smoke Pellet gadget and throw it instead. It'll just take a bit more time, an ounce of effort (as to deciding where you want to throw it), and it'll need to be thrown far enough away from you so the smoke's not deploying with you still in its radius
i did that in origins when i did the no detective mode challenge that the game sets you, the window is short, but not so short you cant avoid it. I deployed it and grappled at the same time.
I actually didn't know what the 'intended' method to get past the sniper at 14:05 was until this year. I always used either the Freeze Blast or Batarang to knock him down to get close.
4:46 You can glide right in over their heads. Or just wait a few seconds, they split up and walk away. 16:44 You can grapple up to the center section right from where you were instead of taking the long way around and going outside then into the vent.
If you ever get the chance and want a decent challenge, you should play the " I am the knight" mode in Arkham origins. It unlocks when you complete new game plus and you can't die.I think you would like it
After almost 2 months, I finally got through every predator map with every character (yes, including catwoman on TOTW Ex), and that was hard enough, I am not doing all the predator maps without detective mode, if I did I actually think I'd cry, lol
I did the same a while back, it was so, so very hard, especially catwoman's; I think I only completed the final extreme campaign with catwoman just *barely*, the last map I had 25 minutes on it.

in the factory nearing joker's boss fight you don't need to just takedown the snipers at the office there's a generator in the same room (the one used earlier in the game to move the crane thingie) which you can hit with the rec to take everyone's guns away
Just wondering am I the only one that wishes the are games had a chapter load system so you could battle any of the bosses without having to create a whole new safe file? Kind of like how there’s a chapter select in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. At the very least a boss rush mode would be kind of cool. It would’ve made it easier for you to fight Mr. freeze again
3:28 there's actually a really easy way to skip this one. If you use the rec gun to open the hatch you can slide under it without having to take out the thugs
That is the speedrun strat I was referring to. However, it requires smoke to disorient the thugs, otherwise you will die. Since there are 3 enemies at the door, they will kill you unless you have armor upgrades, or are playing on easy mode. Neither of which applied to me.
Watching these wonderful challenge runs makes me realise how many little things were changed between Asylum and City. I still remember (and miss) Asylum's Sonic Batarang. That thing *cleared* man. I miss it. Edit: Freeze on NG+ took me days. Literal days. Though that was mainly because I kept getting stuck on the last one or two hits. As did Joker's Carnival. But so did young me on normal. Wonder Tower's a bitch though, yeah.
I love the fact that joker progressively gets more ill looking through the game because he didn’t look that different when you first see him in city vs asylum
Technically, you _did_ beat Arkham City without detective mode. For the sections where you had to scan things, you were using the "Evidence Scanner". Technically not detective mode!
I have 100%ed the entire series on steam and now I’m redoing it on PlayStation (currently on Arkham city) meaning I’ve played this series a lot and only just now finding out you can slide through vent covers to bust them open
Honestly I doubt I could beat this game without it. Considering I don’t notice the small things I use it quite often, this would definitely be a challenge lol
It's not that the Tyger guards saw you on a gargoyle immediately, it's that after escaping a couple times by grappling above the AI will then adapt and shoot down the vantage points and if you're on the one that the AI chose to shoot down, that's how you're spotted. New Game Plus mode will have them shoot down the vantage points after 1 grapple escape on the gargoyles.
Fun fact:you can actually skip the predator section after Rahs al ghul's boss fight,I use it in my playthroughs sometimes when I don't feel like being stealthy
A bit of a subjective list would be ranking the games by the best 'opening', which depending on the game is either the first big 'building' or the segment of the game before you get your first 'Grand Objective". In Arkham Asylum, this is the intial leg in Intensive Treatment. In City, it's everything up until saving Catwoman. In Origins, it's the Blackgate segment. Et Cetera.
Quick question: Why don't you get rid of the smoke bomb before you start a combat or Predator challenge? You can just throw it out and away from you so you never have to worry about it triggering the DV. This combined with Ice Grenades and Sonic Batarangs turns most Predator rooms into a no DV no challenge zones.
I feel like a lot of minor annoyance could be avoided if this series was "can you beat the Arkham City preditor sections without detective mode". Not quite a snappy title, but still

I did this in arkham knight sadly the game forces detective vision on a few places at the start of the game
