I don't know if anyone else knows this but years ago i discovered that after those guys come out of the elevator at around 6:34 you can just walk into the elevator and you will progress with the story without actually having to take the guys out
9:37 You just need to take a wide path to the left (near the Botanical Gardens) to avoid their lasers, and then get them from that side. If you grapple up to the narrow left side of that ledge, just wait until the far sniper is aiming forward, and the closer one is walking away from you. Then you can take them both down silently.
Actually, when you are going to intensive treatment later in the game, if you don’t go to Cash first, you don’t have to deal with the sniper on the roof.

The thing about that is you’d basically be doing some Batman level trading regarding timing, patience, and memorization. I’ve seen these dudes online who’ve played the game way to much and can pretty much do the toughest of predator missions in seconds because they’ve mapped out every single thing to the second and know the timing

The mansion snipers are quite easy once you know how. First get the left side guard tower. Then drop down and grapple to the right side guard tower. Then, approach the two balcony snipers on the left of the mansion and crouch behind the plants to avoid the sniper. Once below him grapple up and perform a ledge Takedown and shimmy around to the other and ledge Takedown him

For the uninitiated: those are the stats most people level immediately so you can evade damage and tank the odd hit safely. I brute-forced the entire game solo on base health and speed and I lost several years of my life for it.
I was a little kid when I first played this, so I, of course, ran through most of the game in detective mode. But as I got older, I realized how much of the game's amazing atmosphere you miss by being in detective mode, I barely use it when I go back for subsequent playthroughs. Because I could literally navigate that map with my eyes closed, I don't even need it for the trailing missions.
Just found you recently and considering how much I love Arkham, I immediately subbed. Even though we have a few disagreements here and there, I still love your content. Also, I'm voting for the challenge maps next.
Can you beat Arkham Asylum without punching any clowns? All other forms of combat are applicable, you're just not allowed to fulfill the promise your username makes.
Fun fact: the game wants you to clean the room, but you can skip the second medication facility by just entering the elevator, even with the henchmen in the room. The game will just proceed as normal.
I'd like to mention, when in the medic building, when the inmates come out of the elevator after you clear the room, you can save time just by gliding down and going in the elevator behind them lol
These games wouldve been even better than they already are if detective mode was onna recharge. But then again, im notsure whether its a gadget or not. Its probably just Batman's next level perception of his surroundings (even though he shouldnt be able to see skeletons, heart rates, etc.,)

We all know the challenge won't be successful but we'll be fun as we go. And i'm going to be honest, I think snipers are worst in origins because I find that they never lose where I am if I'm spotted. It's like they begin tracking me through everything.

you don't have to take down the guys that come from the elevator right before the scarecrow encounter. You can just go into the elevator and leave them there
Great vid clownpuncher. If you plan on doing the other games. When doing challenge maps do custom and set detective mode jam on, because if you use smoke it automatically goes into detective mode. And I can personally say that doing the worst nightmare challenge wear you have to complete a room without detective vision without being seen was hard. So good luck

2:45 not sure if someone else already mentioned this, but on Easy mode you don't have to use detective mode because you can just barrel through the thugs and barely survive. I think it's still impossible on Normal and Hard though unless you upgrade your health partway through getting blasted with bullets (the Batsnack, as we used to call it)
Not true because the game forces detective mode several times. Unless you meant just in predator sections, in which case you're still wrong because plenty of people have beat the game on Hard without detective mode, which is can be consistently replicated so long as you remember enemy placements.
To take the guys out on top of he mansion roof that "I don't know how to take them down without getting shot" Is to sneak around to the side and climb up from there instead of going straight on. around 7:00 or 8:00
The mansion snipers can be ambushed from above. You can get the high ground if you climb the mansion from the cemetery. The predator encounters in the gardens can be skipped. A lot of fights in Asylum can. You can exit almost any, until you alert the goons the mansionthe mansion.
If you didn't know on the second predator section in the sanatorium, you can just ignore the guys coming from the elevator and go down completely skipping the 3 guys and saving a good amount of time
Detective mode really should have had a use / recharge time limit. Just say it was because it required too much battery power to run continuously, or that the high-intensity x-rays would kill enemies if left on too long. Or whatever other reason, it doesn't really matter. Purposefully limiting your use of detective mode makes the games _much_ more challenging and enjoyable IMO.
The second predator encounter in the medical building after you rescue the doctors can be skipped. Right as they get out of the elevator, you can just glide and walk right into the elevator without taking any of the thugs out and the doors will shut and you'll go down
I've made it to that mansion balcony a few times safely, usually by gliding from a higher point north and ledge taking down the first guy, he usually doesn't alert the other.
The flash to detective mode was bad to my eyes though, do wish they added different options to toggle it like one where instead of a flash the detective mode goes side ways across your screen until your in detective mode
I was always in detective mode in my first playthrough because this game is lowkey a horror game and I would shit myself whenever I saw any enemies that I didn't know were coming at least 30 minutes ahead of time
The answer is yes because the challenge is actually you not using detective mode when its most beneficial and not when it's forced. Same for all challenges like no grapple

One potential way to skip having to use DM is you can cut the bell tower down way before you even have to go in the library. So you can skip that section entirely if you know what you're doing.

9:22 you need the multi batarang. Either that or hit them both. Then go to the graveyard because it has plenty of cover and a spot for you to travel where no one looks. Just be careful because one sniper does check occasionally 😊
you can see sniper rifles laser sights...they just use a red laser...it's visible to the naked eye if there is any smoke or fog or particles in the air.

Around 5:13 you can cheese the game by planting the gel, but not using it on the guy. take him out separately, and when more henchman come over to investigate, detonate the gel and take out 2 or 3 of them, and knock the rest down
There's an even easier way although you need the invented takedown. Basically you take one guy out silently, spray the gel on the wall in the video and the celling in the right corner of the room and then go on top of the gargoyle above the elevator. Detonate both explosives and do an inverted takedown on the guy below. That just leaves one guy who you can just glide kick or whatever.

This feels like a very bare-bones Batman. Maybe Detective Vision can only be used for following trails without seeing people through walls. That adds an extra challenge while still justifying its existence and use. Basically, in-Universe, Defective Vision can’t show what’s behind a wall or what someones heart rate is. It’s only used for detecting clues, such as finger prints, blood trails, etc. That would create a narrative reason why Batman doesn’t use it all the time, because it’s not designed for predator sections
You can skip talking to cash for croc's location this also never spawns the sniper so you don't have to worry about him and in the medical bulding you can get in the elevator whitout defeating the thugs
I actually don't think it's hard to beat this game without detective mode on all the time. It's so easy to see the enemies in most predator sections. But it can be hard to see them if your TV is too dark or there is a glare.

I always stayed in detective mode so I could see when those Crazy patients were coming after me.. I hated being jump scared by them
