Now THIS is an amp. Good playin', kid. Lots of styles, lots of guitar tones. This is THE BEST sounding Fender tweed THIS old man has ever heard and I've been at this for 58 years. Son. I want one. Of course, they quit makin' 'em. Fender is clueless ...
Makes a pleasant change to see and hear a straight and simple demo of a major piece of kit - without the player trying desperately to overshadow the product they're supposed to be showcasing.. Wonderful amp with the sort of tone I'm always looking for but can't always afford. Using a Z 28 at the moment but very tempted to get back into Fender's again. Looking at a USA Blues Deville soon and possibly a new-ish Vibrolux. Never happy are we..!! Thanks Damon..
Has some lower mid harmonically rich tones that I like, that's for sure. Everything else in tweed, just sound blatty, ratty, and people go nuts over 'em ... I have to wonder where it is that people get their tone taste from ...
Couldn't agree with you more on your comment concerning the "Non-Sense" in this comment section! I've noticed recent comments by persons by the likes of spentonmediocrity above and just shake my head. Comments "...not even coming from players, just gear heads that think they're hot shit, or people that just want to be stupid...". I own several Fender tube amps and am happy with their performance. I've tried other boutique amps, but return to Fender. Love the Twinolux and its pure guitar sound.
A nice touch, when Damon refers to "working closely in conjunction with "MISTER Clapton" lol I have a Roadworn 60's Strat, but the Strat to the right of Damon looks cooler than mine !!!
Hot damn, this dude can play. Most demos are miserable. This was just fun to watch -- especially his reactions when he knows he's pulled something fucking good. Also, the amp sounds great. I'd like to hear it with a Strat that has a little more, shall we say, guts? EC's Strat sounds lovely, but it lacks that aggressive, dangerous quality I love about Stratocasters in general.
This is one of the only decent demos of this amp out there. This guy is digging into the string the way a real player does. I congratulate you on playing for real and not some wimpy pubescent faux-hawked poser.
I have a '76. Used to have to put that sucker up over my head to get it through the crowd when we were done playing. Then drop it down to my chest to get it through the door. Then back up over my head to get it out to my car. Now I need lower back surgery. But that's also after 35 years of moving Fender amps around.
coolmodine Nothing is wrong, you are just using the wrong amp. 57 twins only break up when they're being gunned and cracked loud. On a stadium you can do this but as you've probably realized you can't really do this at home. Get an OD pedal like a Tube screamer or Boss Blues driver BD-2. That should sort out your problem.
If I was going to buy an amp in that price range that I couldn't hear live in a music store,I would want to hear some fairly clean rhythm chording.Where you can hear the chords ring out in a slower fashion, not flying all over the fretboard. The Twin is noted for its clean, edgy tone on rhythm. But I havent seen one demo yet that does that.
This guy was playing to what this amp does best, which is why I sought out this video. Plenty of amps that will give sparkly clean rhythm sounds, which is OK if that is what you need. Personally, if I could afford one of these amps, I would buy a Radial Eng amp switcher and run between my Super Reverb w /1X15, and this amp, and be a very happy guitar slinger ...
I haven't really looked into the circuit for this thing, but it seems to have really exaggerated that farty low end found on some tweeds. Might be negative feedback related. Not really diggin it. Nice touch sensitivity though.
STRATMAN firdaus every couple yrs they make for awhile, they just re-released the 57 custom series, just not with tremolo, which was the defining feature of the ec line
Fender, in general, has a very suspect marketing plan. I don't know if they are contracted with Clapton to produce a certain number of anything, regardless of whether they want it or not, or for a particular period of time ... or what. But they don't seem to know when it is, that they have a really good ANYTHING in their line. Sometime, it just takes more time for a product to catch on (I'm just now finding this amp, in February 2020). Imagine if they had made the Super Reverb in 1964, and then cut it out of the line, in 1967? Think they would have left any money on the table? PLUS. They cannot quite get the mix of profit points-to-pieces built, ratio figured out. Sometime, you make more money in the long run, by taking less profit and selling more pieces over a long period of time ... I mean, you have to have SOMETHING to sell! Might as well be a darn good amplifier. What they need to work on, is a better financing system for people to pay for these things over three-to-four years ...
I would agree that trashing tweed amps is pretty uninformed. There are really only a few tube amp designs. A good player is going to do his/her own thing with any of em. When I started actually building them I also realized how cheap they are and what an incredible markup fender sticks to ya. Plenty of custom builders could do better for at least 1k less. They could copy this amp if you wanted. But big gig amps don't always have the same goal as the person buying this thing. Ie SRV's Diaz amps.
@petecockcroft This amp BLOWS doors on a Hot Rod Deville. Better tranny's, caps and pretty much everything. You can HEAR it can't ya??? I think it's a bit pricey.....
I have an original Blues Deluxe which, if it was a bit cleaner in the lows when pushed, would be a wicked amp ... just too darn loud with a Les Paul Deluxe running through it. And yes, would much rather have THIS amp ... very flexible in so many ways, WITH a tremolo which is a big deal to me. Pardon my arrogance, but it's just stupid to build a tweed amp without trem ...
Yeh. The amp is KILLER. But what a way to desecrate the Maker of the universe, and savior of the world. His name is Jesus. Repent and claim Him as YOUR Savior. You will be a lot happier.
If clapton designd the amp for his self use than it obviously cant be shit because he uses it on stage [=. Your not gonna get the originall late 50s early 60s bassman tweed amp sound but if you get this amp you will not be dissapointed because this is high grade tube amp designed for Eric f***ing Clapton by fenders best tech's
Do yourself a favor and buy a Carvin Belair combo with 2x12's for $599 and with the money you save buy a new strat .. I hate how much companies jack up their prices by attaching a celebs name to it .. go to Carvin.com
LifesonFan4Life hand wired goodness, carvin if ur poor of course, if you have ever played a custom shop amp u could tell the difference unless ur ears are shit
Great. I've been playing 58 years and don't even get to SEE an original tweed. Therefore, we have to take what we can find ... if we can even afford THIS amp. And yes, yes, yes, this amp sounds pretty damn good just as it is and will sound better in five years, ad infinitum, as your old amp does. AGE makes a huge difference in amp parts just as it does in guitars ... I'd be very happy and thankful to have one of these amps, between the tones and the flexibilities and the tremolo ...
Yes. Pricy. But I recently saw a chart that said the Super Reverb I bought new in 1964 at $400, was equal to like $32oo in today's money. Take it from someone who has been at this for 58 years, this stuff has never been cheap, has ALWAYS been way over what the average person/family can easily afford, simply because for most people, these things are luxuries. Having said that ... No. I can't afford one of these amps, either. Perhaps they were originally aimed at the arena-working musicians ...
audio quality is insane !!!
should be standard on every demo !
thx a lot.

That was absolutely amazing. no one has done a demo like that.. ever. amazing bro
This is one of the best fender amp demos on yt.
Makes a pleasant change to see and hear a straight and simple demo of a major piece of kit - without the player trying desperately to overshadow the product they're supposed to be showcasing.. The best demo to date thus far...congrats.......
I especially like the drill press !
very throaty, love it - maybe the nicest fender ive ever heard
Thank you. Much agreed.
Good testdrive...thanks pal!
Great demo, thanks! Hello Fender-people - pleaaaase produce the 3 EC Amps unmodified again 🙏
some nice playing there
well done Damon...well done!
I forgot about that Clapton tone circuit in that there Stratocaster ... sounds mighty fine.
Great equipment
FANTASTIC!
Great amp! Audio quality also sounds top-notch, could you please tell us about the recording chain of this demo?
I have got two and they are amazing and loud! Rock'n roll.
SUPER good for you! I have a Gibson ES-355 and would LOVE two of these to run stereo!!
Thanks enjoyed the demo, were you going through any pedals, just loved the sound, think the piggy banks going to get raided.

good call! and doesn't EVH have his amps made at Fender, technically?
Have you heard this amp in person?
Eric's common tone!
Dam. I cannot take my eyes off that suburst over white strat.
white over sunburst...
what is that riff at 3:50?! that got me bouncing! :D
This is one of the only decent demos of this amp out there. This guy is digging into the string the way a real player does. I congratulate you on playing for real and not some wimpy pubescent faux-hawked poser.
I'd love to hearit with a Les Paul or SG guitar...
I'd take the time to whip up a reply for but you're apparently a fan of the Edge so....
It sounds amazing and of course really, really bluesy!!!!
And you make it smokes hhhh
Thank you for not running up the treble until my ears bleed ...
Should demo the guitar on many genre
Bend Em
To be fair nobody is realistically going to buy Eric Clapton's signature fender amp if they not a blues and Eric Clapton fan.
Anyone know which speaker was used?
he said a SERIES of signature amps. There are 3 of the EC amps
When did Fender release a Dick Dale amp?
First artist amp? Dick Dale and Showman amps maybe?
Wasnt this guy from Richer Sounds??
Surprised Himself At 3:02 That Face haha
Play that tone stick delight to your left........I wanna hear that, the amp is cool.
nice amp! Might have to check that out. I wonder if its lighter than my 78 twin lol....oh and FIRST LOL
I have a '76. Used to have to put that sucker up over my head to get it through the crowd when we were done playing. Then drop it down to my chest to get it through the door. I have a clapstrat and a 57 twin. I cannot get any grind by cranking up the midboost. it just get's louder. What am I doing wrong?
coolmodine

On a stadium you can do this but as you've probably realized you can't really do this at home. Get an OD pedal like a Tube screamer or Boss Blues driver BD-2. That should sort out your problem.
get a bigger room/stadium

xpmark1 ahh poor people

ha! nice one
pretyy sure thaz Cesar Diaz's original tweaks to ECs amp.....he should get the accolades deserved..
whats the model for the little one?
Sweeeeeeet!
I haven't really looked into the circuit for this thing, but it seems to have really exaggerated that farty low end found on some tweeds. Might be negative feedback related. Not really diggin it. Nice touch sensitivity though.
You ARE kidding, right? It's handling the lows darn cleanly. It's everybody else's tweeds that are wallowing in the farty mud ...
Why did Fender stop making EC amps?
Perhaps low sales due to the high price.
STRATMAN firdaus every couple yrs they make for awhile, they just re-released the 57 custom series, just not with tremolo, which was the defining feature of the ec line
only a limited number where made.

snd great to me
and the George Benson
Sounds quite nice. If only they put a proper master volume or variable attenuator in there instead of that useless half-power switch.
I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! update I got one :) :)
GOOD for you. I'm just finding these, in February 2020.
Not to mention Van Halen. The 5150 3's made by fender
play [no pun intended] to the strengths of your product in order to sell it. marketing 101, do you understand it?
Ive orded one ..............
yeah, because im sure every metal guys gonna sell his dual rectifier for this
@bluesinduluth the biggest one is like 5k :(
Peter Green model! haha
Could do without the cheesy 'EC' on the grille.
Tacky.
Not that hard to take off, I'm sure!
3:50

Sorry Damon, you're a very informative and talented bloke but I honestly thought it was a chubby kid demoing the amp in the thumbnail for this vid.
GoLo ...
I like how he looks at the camera...he's probably thinking, "you know this amp sounds like a fucking God."
Yeh. The amp is KILLER. But what a way to desecrate the Maker of the universe, and savior of the world. His name is Jesus. Repent and claim Him as YOUR Savior. You will be a lot happier.

NO no and no. I have an original tweed. This amp is not even close. and i am a big clapton fan.
Great. I've been playing 58 years and don't even get to SEE an original tweed. Therefore, we have to take what we can find ... if we can even afford THIS amp. @englishdeltajazz and I could do without your life. :-)
sounds good but the price is refuckingdiculous. you can do better for less. sorry fender, swing and a miss.
SuperMarioZombies i have one , and only people who are poor, say it cost to much ,like a ferrari is just a car, haha

Sounds like a Twin Reverb.... CONGRATS! lol
?????????? Not hardly.
Lame
"Lame" what? Been a player for 58 years, and both amp and player sound pretty darn good to me. Maybe you should go back to sleep ...
