That last part where the guy says "in 10 years, we saved a little part of the meadowlands" is bittersweet because the Meadowlands commission approved to build the largest mall on top of the meadows and it's been the biggest blunder ever since.
I grew up in Secaucus. The 1970s we used to crab on Hackensack River in secaucus. I used to swim there right off the route 3 bridge. Late 1970s to early 1980s I used to swim in the Hackensack River right at the route 3 bridge.
Many fond days of trapping Muskrat and ,duck, pheasant, rabbit ,railbird hunting plus catching killies ,grassshrimp for fishing bait (now even deer there)
One note,, where the eastern spur of the NJTP goes over the overpeck creek a phenomenon occurs with the warm brackish water discharged from the public service power plant on a incoming tide the warm brackish water goes thru the cracks or sometimes open gates of the overpeck dam flushing grass shrimp and killies thru. To awaiting ( ready?) Striped Bass. Also large Mount bass, huge white perch, blue catfish and so much more. Launch your small boat on Hendricks causeway. Unless the state decided to kill all the resident fish as to "manage" the fishery.
Very good video
