ECHOES OF THE PAST, VOICES OF THE FUTURE - Washington and Lee
Great video Back in the depression there were Hooverville camps in the meadows my mother told me. The meadows were a great place to pick wild berries it’s ruined now
Miss you, Professor 😢 Jon taught me so much before he passed.
This remodeling job is truly great. I saw "Hair" here in late March 1972. This was a a time when I was able to score a ticket for the Saturday matinee for only $6, and that was orchestra 4th row. Hard to believe in late 2024, hmmm?
I grew up in Secaucus. The 1970s we used to crab on Hackensack River in secaucus. I used to swim there right off the route 3 bridge. Late 1970s to early 1980s I used to swim in the Hackensack River right at the route 3 bridge.
Very good video

That last part where the guy says "in 10 years, we saved a little part of the meadowlands" is bittersweet because the Meadowlands commission approved to build the largest mall on top of the meadows and it's been the biggest blunder ever since.
I grew up near the Hackensack River in the 60s & 70's. Water was nasty! Its gotten better since then, but still has a long way to go.
This may be me soon (50th reunion of Class of '73), this spring of 2023. One of the last single-gender classes, so the end of an era.
"They won't." They did.
Really interesting. thanks for sharing.
One note,, where the eastern spur of the NJTP goes over the overpeck creek a phenomenon occurs with the warm brackish water discharged from the public service power plant on a incoming tide the warm brackish water goes thru the cracks or sometimes open gates of the overpeck dam flushing grass shrimp and killies thru. To awaiting ( ready?) Striped Bass. Also large Mount bass, huge white perch, blue catfish and so much more. Launch your small boat on Hendricks causeway. Unless the state decided to kill all the resident fish as to "manage" the fishery.
I grew up there & I'm 66 now. Good vid .
The best is yet to come.
Most powerful President in all respects!!
Great program! thanks for uploading
I flunked the test by Lewis Black on the meaning of WTF. But I have come to experience you for the past 45 enriched years and, WTF, I will continue. Thanks.
How did I get here?
Many fond days of trapping Muskrat and ,duck, pheasant, rabbit ,railbird hunting plus catching killies ,grassshrimp for fishing bait (now even deer there)
This video needs to be seen by more people !
How many people are here because they are descended from Lion Gardiner?
As a 42 year old Scotsman it really does hit home what the world lost on Nov 22 1963 Such a great great man the greatest leader the world has known. To think of what he could've done had he been allowed breaks the heart of all people to this very day
A very nice film of a very memorable day.
Are you Calvin Plimpton's son? I seem to remember a "Teddy" Plimpton kid when I was at Amherst. If you are he, you are not a kid anymore...
@@JonathanHuberth Yes, I am, obviously JFK visit was a defining moment of my childhood since I got to meet and talk with him.
Great Video Thank You!!!
I wish for a greater Meadowlands
Great share, thanks.
The world will know the quality of such leadership again. He has inspired me completely and totally yet I am not an American. I have listened to this speech more than 100 times and I still want to listen.

AWESOME VIDEO!!!!
Thanks for sharing.💙
Thank you very much for uploading this.
Great movie that I have never seen thank you for posting!!! 🙂
Swarthmore sends out a lot of junk mail trying to get students to apply, more so than most colleges.
I have to admit that if it wasn't for those emails and mailers/postcards, my daughter would never have heard of Swarthmore, or much less applied. She found them clever, did some research about Swarthmore, and ended up applying. She was recently accepted in the Class of 2022, and goes to visit the campus for their admitted students event next week. Some may find their marketing cheesy, but if it weren't for those postcards and emails, we would never have heard of the school here in rural Bishop, CA.
@@joegriego9805 WELL SAID!!!
great video! Thanks!

Thanks for posting. Your introduction, the images and documents and your conclusion after JFK finishing the speech, brought me to tear. We lost a great President by assassination. For 1000 days of the administration, JFK accomplishment and vision toward future were enormous. The following is a clip regarding how courteous he was. The national press picked up Frost’s prediction that the junior Senator from Massachusetts, who had not formally declared his candidacy, would be elected the next President. Less than a month later, Kennedy wrote Frost, stating: “I just want to send you a note to let you know how gratifying it was to be remembered by you on the occasion of your 85th birthday. I only regret that the intrusion of my name, probably in ways which you did not entirely intend, took away some of the attention from the man who really deserved it-Robert Frost.”
1:21 That professor like I'm going to give you this director's contact info so you can stop bothering me lol. I wonder how the real world is going for these liberal art majors?
it's a liberal arts school, that doesn't mean everyone is a liberal arts MAJOR. educate yourself. STEM majors are actually the msopt popualr at swarthmroe
