Cool video. I've actually linked two alarms to one remote. I get double the sound. Now, a thief will have 2 alarms to deal with before working on my locks.
And the answer to the question when you arm it the second beep is a confirmation that the alarm is armed, as the first tones are that it's received the remote command. 👍🏻

A much more comprehensive review. Appreciate the two distance tests. Questions: 1)_What if the remote gets lost or broken while on the road, is there a way to disarm the alarm? 2)_Can you arm/activate the alarm without it sounding. 3)_Can you buy a backup remote? Thanks for sharing. Great review. Planning on buying a reverse trike hopefully soon. New on your channel. New subscriber. God bless.
My guess for most of these is "no, no, no, and no." only because it's so cheap that the company would either not respond to your requests or just send you another one. That would be my recommendation, too, unfortunately! You get what you pay for.
Remiong Cecilio: Ben Durham erred in his "guess" answer. These are the correct, researched answers to your questions: 1) The only way to disarm the alarm, without destroying it, if the remote gets lost or broken is to either have programed another remote or disconnect the internal batteries inside the unit by unscrewing the battery compartment. 2) The arm/activate function requires a sound and can not eliminate this sound. 3) The only way, currently, to buy a backup remote is to buy another unit, only $17 at the time of this reply, cheap enough, and program the remote that comes with each alarm to function for the alarm you wish it to function for.
These are alarms. They are not a substitute for a lock. If you are in earshot they are great. I've twice been wokekken by a siliars thing. The noise scares people off, usually. I once found someone had removed my front hydraulic brake, along with handlebar and stem, while chained outside my home. Now any tampering will wake me. My neighbours probably aren't so grateful, but twice in a year's not bad.
Thanks so much for your review! Mine is still sitting inside the house until I figure where to safely install it. I haven't enabled it yet, so now I know how it sounds 👍
Huh, mine came with zip ties and adhesive strips. But luckily zip ties can be had or very inexpensive at some local stores. It was probably a mess up at the factory or something (which I kind of expect at these price points) 😬

It stopped working it will make the beeping noise when I turn it on but no longer goes off. I just ordered one identical to the one you reviewed. Hopefully this one will hold up.
Hopefully, yeah! Just hard to know because they all look the same and tons of different brands sell them 🤷♂️ Good luck with your new one! Oh, maybe check the batteries in the controller and alarm. They eventually run out.
I use mine in a scooter that has a headlight housing on the handlebars. I mounted the unit inside the headlight housing under the speedometer. It's hard to get to. They would have to take apart the front body panel to remove the headlight housing unless they just smashed it to pieces which I don't think they will do if the bike is parked in a public place with cameras on it. It's armed After I lock the handlebar lock and attach a disk rotor lock with it's own alarm. Two alarms and two locks. I plan to add a heavy chain and lock with alarm they can't cut with bolt cutters and a GPS. 3 locks, 3 alarms and a GPS.
Wowsers, where are you leaving this scooter and for how long at a time? 😮 Looks like no one's stealing it... EVER! Hey, I have some machines that I would like to have these in. But I don't want the sensitivity feature. I would just want to be able to locate the machine if am close by. For example, they stole one of my machines. I know that it is within one of 2 houses that are close to each other, could I press a botton for the alarm to go off? So I can be sure which house the machine is in? I don't want to turn on the sensitivity option.
The reason I don't want the sensitivity option is that I don't want the culprit to know the device is in the machine because the machines are miles away from me. I realise that the tracking devices on the machines doesn't give the exact location. The tracker will let you know it is in this circle right here but that circle might have 2 houses. I bought one for my motorcycle. It’s OK, but not loud enough. For a bicycle ir is loud because it’s position out in the open, but on a bike if you hide it somewhere it tends to muffle the sound. Also, when adjusting sensitivity, it’s really hard to tell which level you are at. One would think that the beep would get louder (or the other way around) as sensitivity increased, but mine can be lousy, then it goes down, and up again, and I am only in 4-5 beeps. There are suppose to be 7. I changed the sensitivity and I have never been able to get it back to the most sensitive setting. Pretty lousy! But hey, for 16 bucks what can you expect, uh? Would I recommend it, yes I would. Something is better than nothing.
I knew you can get alarms on eBay but what is the brand name of this alarm and does it work really well at night time if it's lightning out it will not Set It Off
Kevin, depending on the level of sensitivity you've chosen lightening may, or may not, set it off. This alarm is sold under many, many brand names but they all look and are the exact same item.

So far so good 😉. I did actually just come up with a question. Do you have any idea if these alarms can actually distinguish between different keys? Preventing that one key can disarm all alarms?
Kev, the odds of a thief carrying the correct remote are as close to zero as you can imagine, even if they happen to get one with the correct frequency.
@@BenDurham hi, thaks but i tried that already, throught you mentioned 3 audible levels to someone else, how do you change that? (not the 7 sensitivity levels) thanks
@@steveulliott4106 To adjust the audible levels you, first, press the top button of the three small buttons that are below the arm/disarm button. This button displays an open lock. This button is continually pressed until a blue light surrounding the arm/disarm button stays on, which means that the alarm is in program/set mode. Then press the bottom button of the small buttons, the one with the bell figure on it. It will scroll from loud to not so loud. Stop at the loudness of your choice. After several seconds the blue light will go off and, now, the alarm has been programed for the loudness you selected.
Just my opinion: Keep everything well away from your spokes, including this when you fit it. If it comes loose then it is a big accident that is easily avoided.
Fair point! It actually ended up coming off on the Biktrix bike and we were wondering what a rhythmic sound was while riding. Didn't cause chaos but could've! Great suggestion!
@@BenDurham Sorry to hear that. It was some great advice from my father who used to do a lot of cycle touring in the 1970s with the CTC, and my sister's partner who got flipped after a twig got caught.

@@pgreenx I mean, what happens if you lose the keys to your car at the store? You have to call someone. Same here. The alarm stops after 45 seconds, so I'd just make sure you grab some ear plugs, snip the alarm off, unscrew the screws on the alarm, and then rip out the batteries.

Hmmmm that might be a dud D: Make sure that pull-tab is pulled out, too! But otherwise, that might be broken and need to be returned. But I'm no expert!
Major problem mounting it where it is visible. If they quickly cut the two straps all the have to do is drop it in a glass of water and Poof, fried alarm. The unit is not waterproof only water resistant to spray. Immersion can still kill it. It's also not dust proof.
@@BenDurham Right.. thing is most people don't really understand how little protection IP55 is. You can layer your deterrents as much as you can afford, it's still not gonna help if someone really wants to take the bike. Although Good to have, some is better than none and More is better than some, we really need better solutions. The thief needs to know the alarm is in a place he could never get to, with a GPS that actually calls the cops in real time with tracking data for the cops. Even that may not be fool proof but No One makes such a unit and The Cops are part of the problem because they don't want to pay for a department to do just that. Most cops rely on federal funding.. if federal money isn't in it, they aren't interested. This is why cops keep busting kids with weed a more harmless drug than alcohol because it's paid for by the corrupt American Federal Government.
I saw sometime trying to steal a bike one time they heard one got hear alarms and ran for their life haha these sounds are very piercing and terrifying lol it like they think it’s an officers bike or something.
I own this device and there is one thing that really annoys me: The sounds for "armed" and "disarmed" are freakin loud too. Absolutely no need. When I get home in my relatively quiet neighbourhood in the evening, I often will not use it because of that. And this is the way you use it all the time. I don't understand why I can change the alarm sound which is rarely used but cannot change the behavior of the 95 -%-of-times-sound.
RIGHT?! I 100% agree and wish it would be less loud. But I think the reason is that there is literally only one chirper in the device because it's so cheap... So only one dB level: SUPER LOUD 100% OF THE TIME 😂
Hi.. does this alarm goes off on it's own after lets say 20 sec or so ? It's important to me because.. I need it to stop if someone moves my bike by accident on a bike parking and Im not there personally to shut it off.
The first bump results in a quick warning beep. The 2nd bump makes the alarm sound for around 45 seconds, then it resets. So if you hit it again, it would do a warning beep then the 45 second alarm... and repeat forever.
No it is not because knowone takes any notice & if they did they would not get involved!. Watch other videos on here I have seen people watch in a crowd as a bike is being stolen!
Don't worry, this was done a long time ago for 20 or so minutes + 20min a bit later that day. No one remembers the time that a random guy was testing an alarm 😂 They do, however, remember all of the constant traffic noise brought on by a car centric city 😬
oh it's loud! Not sure if it sounded as loud because I needed to adjust it for audio levels (so it wouldn't make people's ears bleed while watching the video) but it's REALLY loud. My neighbours asked what was happening throughout the time I was filming this haha!
@@ArthurKlisiewicz wait "almost"? Because almost implies you were able to get a replacement battery. I didn't hide anything in this review 😅 What else is trash about it? Seems to do the job for cheap.

@@lazurm yep, these alarms are more for when you are locking up at stores or for doing errands, etc. Having an alarm on your bike when it's near your home is key, too, though! @@BenDurham Regarding the "insurance", at $40/year it won't cover much, yes? I have an "ebike" that retails for $7,000. I sincerely doubt that it'd be covered for $40/yr. More like $40/month.
What keeps a person from just clipping the the alarm off with a Nail clipper or other, and tossing it into the bushes before attempting to steal a bike. Bike thieves are sophisticated. They know what these things look like This seems like a waste of time and money.
It depends on where you put it but you can hide it inside a case like a lot of commenters have done. But otherwise, it's for the more sophisticated thieves.
Good mini review! I agree, sometime a bit 🤷♂️ but overall pretty good for around $20!
Very helpful video, Thanks
np!
Your bike looks very nice and I'd definitely like to steal it . Could you let us know where you leave it so that I can come and whisk it away . Thank you.
For sure! Stop on by our booby trapped, surveillance heavy property anytime and be arrested within minutes of stepping foot on our property. Unlimited time offer! 🤣
Can the wind make the alarm go off ?
If it's heavy enough! But you can adjust the sensitivity.
Thanks for the great breakdown of the bike alarm. Would be nice if you also had an international link to the alarm 😉👍🏼
I actually do, just forgot to swap out the links! I'll do that in the coming days :)
There we go! Finally got around to swapping out the links for global ones! Live in the description now! :)
(I know, probably too late for you but thanks for the heads up! 🍻)
Yup, but no worries. I found the same one thanks again.
@@yumedan Cheers! Hope you like it :)
So far so good 😉. I did actually just come up with a question. Do you have any idea if these alarms can actually distinguish between different keys? Preventing that one key can disarm all alarms?
what if the thief also carry the remote with him/her??? nit is pretty cheap. or do the remote all have different frequencies???
I believe they all have different frequencies.
Kev, the odds of a thief carrying the correct remote are as close to zero as you can imagine, even if they happen to get one with the correct frequency.
Just pull the thin plastic battery protector out of the unit. You don’t have to unscrew anything that’s the whole point of it.
hi, ive had mine for 2 months, but the volume gone almost silent, is there away to adjust the volume and how? thanks
Might be to do with a dying battery on the actual alarm. Replace that and see!
Zip tie alarm on $2090 bike?
Just an extra precaution! Something else might be better but 🤷♂️
Just my opinion: Keep everything well away from your spokes, including this when you fit it.
Is there a good version of this that allows you to disable alarm if remote is lost
I mean that'd defeat the purpose. But a sledgehammer works quite well to disable it 😅
@@BenDurham how about if you are in a store, lose the remote and the alarm goes of by accident and you (anyone) are standing there like an idiot with a screaming bike alarm
@@BenDurham that’s helpful to know the alarm stops after 45 seconds. Thats what I was looking for. Thanks
@@pgreenx For sure. Be sure to watch through the video fully - I cover that! Cheers :)
you can have a tracker on it
Can confirm: you definitely can do whatever you want! Maybe even an airtag or similar.
I bought one everything is recieving electricity but when i press the arm lock nothing happens i also changed the batteries and everything it still doesnt work
Hmmmm that might be a dud D:
Make sure that pull-tab is pulled out, too!
But otherwise, that might be broken and need to be returned. But I'm no expert!
@@BenDurhamI pulled the tab then after 2 mins tried locking it and it did not work at all. Seems weird idk tho… Might be right it could be a dud.
Dang 😬
Is it water proof?
Hasn't died yet and I've biked with it in the rain about 4 times now! But it also says it's water resistant, so I'd say it'll be fine in the rain 👍
What if thief buys an alarm, Will the remote they have turn your alarm off?
Probably not. There are enough frequencies out there that this would rarely happen, if at all.
Major problem mounting it where it is visible. If they quickly cut the two straps all the have to do is drop it in a glass of water and Poof, fried alarm. The unit is not waterproof only water resistant to spray. Immersion can still kill it. It's also not dust proof.
Yep! I mentioned that in the video! While most thieves will be detured, some will just snip it right off and toss it away. Not foolproof!
All good bike thieves carry a glass of water with them! 😂
Or they could just stomp on it or simply take the battery out. That is if they aren't carrying around their trustee glass of water that day 😂
Ok so when the alarm is set, it does go on for 30 sec
Yep! First, a warning beep and then if it's touched again, 30 seconds or so of blaring loudness!
@@BenDurham thanks for respondind
@@AirbrushDGart no problem, glad to help!
I saw sometime trying to steal a bike one time they heard one got hear alarms and ran for their life haha these sounds are very piercing and terrifying lol it like they think it’s an officers bike or something.
Hah! So they DO scare some thieves off!
So only one dB level: SUPER LOUD 100% OF THE TIME
😂
I guess the strong winds won't activate it?
Depends on the setting!
Hi.. does this alarm goes off on it's own after lets say 20 sec or so ? It's important to me because.. I
need it to stop if someone moves my bike by accident on a bike parking and Im not there personally to shut it off.
The first bump results in a quick warning beep. The 2nd bump makes the alarm sound for around 45 seconds, then it resets. So if you hit it again, it would do a warning beep then the 45 second alarm... and repeat forever.
'tis better in Japan then where if somebody actually tried to steal a bike, most bystanders would intervene.
How long it will be making noise if you will stop touching the bike?
As I mention in the video, around 45 seconds.
This would have been good for a laptop.
No it is not because knowone takes any notice & if they did they would not get involved!. Watch other videos on here I have seen people watch in a crowd as a bike is being stolen!
I bet everyone loves you noise polluting this peaceful patk
Don't worry, this was done a long time ago for 20 or so minutes + 20min a bit later that day. No one remembers the time that a random guy was testing an alarm 😂
They do, however, remember all of the constant traffic noise brought on by a car centric city 😬
Oh shut up!!
It's not loud enough to me. Needs to be like close to a police or ambulance siren
oh it's loud! Not sure if it sounded as loud because I needed to adjust it for audio levels (so it wouldn't make people's ears bleed while watching the video) but it's REALLY loud. My neighbours asked what was happening throughout the time I was filming this haha!
@@BenDurham Ok in that case it's a good alarm
@@matthewcox1093 👌
I bought it ! IT IS A TRASH. Almost unable to get to the battery to replace it. Super bad design.
@@ArthurKlisiewicz wait "almost"? Because almost implies you were able to get a replacement battery.
I didn't hide anything in this review 😅
What else is trash about it? Seems to do the job for cheap.
Just bring your bike into your house at night.
Some* people can't do that though? We just use our garage. But these alarms are more for errand runs and parking at different places, imo.
@@BenDurham I understand you.
Isn’t it easy for a thief to find the alarm and cut off the zip ties?
Yea but it'll be blasting noise while he does that
None of this matters ): some people keep stealing bikes in the neighborhood even if you replace the bike the next day it's stolen and even if you catch them with this or track where they go they're just going to be sent to jail for a day and then come back ):
Ouch. That's unfortunate. In those cases, I'd be bringing my bike in, for sure.
@@BenDurham yeah that's what my uncle has been doing, but recently he left his bike outside for a few seconds to fix something on it and then it was stolen again sadly
In cases like this ALWAYS bring your bicycle inside. Or, in worst case scenario, use Hexlox for all components, two alarms AND the Skunklock which will definitely stop the thief, no matter what tools they used.
@@lazurm yep, these alarms are more for when you are locking up at stores or for doing errands, etc.
Having an alarm on your bike when it's near your home is key, too, though! Because you'll hear that something's up and can scare them away.
We also have inexpensive ebike insurance (about $40/yr per bike).
There are a lot of opportunists that would be scared away by this... And it would at least draw attention to them which a lot of thieves don't want.
