I think the Cle de Peau looks better, and I noticed it immediately the first few times you used it during your videos. I was like, what is she wearing? In part the shade match is spot on, with a slightly brightening effect. I’ve seen you go through lots of pinky/peachy foundations before, that just looked off. Here is what I think: these foundations are a godsend for mature skin. Younger skin does not need them. Anyone who hits 50 is justified, in my mind, to buy foundation with no price tag consideration except it looks the absolute best you can buy for your skin. Younger people, save your money, enjoy less expensive choices, wider range of choices while you can. Put the money on other things in life. Then, at 50 pick your best products.
Thank you! I really think CdP foundations have the best shade match for me out of any brand. I really like how consistent they are between formulas too. I think that is a great point about mature skin. I think in general, any time you find something that works that well, price shouldn't be a consideration any longer. Great points!!

Hi Lexi, fantastic comparison and wear time test. Both look amazing however I do see the slight luminosity of the cdp to Chanel. I'm glad you're happy with both as foundation matching is difficult at best.

It’s possible that at some point the Chanel Sublimage Foundation may have changed its formula, but the first time I tried it, it left a bit of a tacky residue on my skin. It’s been awhile since I tried it & perhaps my skin care that day may have contributed to that effect (who knows?) but I DO know that Cle De Peau: The Foundation is my absolute favorite in the winter for my incredibly dry skin!👍

I would definitely love to try the Chanel foundation. I really like the new concealer they released. I voted for the Chanel side on your test…took a screenshot & really studied it. The Chanel side looked slightly better around the nose area. They both look beautiful on the skin; but, I can’t justify the price of CDP. Great review Lexi.

Thank you for the review. I am glad you tried the Sublimage Foundation! I will have to try the Cle De Peau Foundation next time. Both look beautiful on you. It is a matter of preference. I love glow too but for video, I like the Sublimage side better on you. I ditch the inner lid on Sublimage after about a week from use up the product on the lid. I have not had any problems with it spoiling but I do use the spatula. : )

Hi Lexi - your blush pink jumper, nail polish and eye make up colour mix look super pretty - such a lovely combination! Right, on to the foundations. I hate to say it, but I do prefer the Cle de Peau - the price though! 😓The other thing I am not so keen on is the whole jar/pot affair. I always get in a bother with these sorts of things and find them to be so messy. That said, the Cle de Peau looks absolutely stunning on you - I always favour a dewy finish - and if I ever had the chance to try this I'd love to.

Hi Lexi! I like them both on you. I guess it depends on which one feels more hydrating on the skin because who doesn't need extra hydration. On the other hand, double the price? I think I would stick with the Chanel Sublimage and use a more hydrating cream underneath like Chanel Hydra Beauty Nutritious which I love xx

I bought the Cle de Peau after watching your review. It is so fabulous, especially if you have dry skin. The price made me want to cry, but I got it during the black Friday sale, which helped a bit.
I hate, hate, hate foundation, but this feels like skincare, just as you stated. It really is the nicest foundation I have ever worn.

Hey Lexi! Thanks for the lovely review. I think the CdP looks just fabulous on you, each time you have worn it. The Chanel is similar indeed but misses the special something IMO. Would you mind comparing the CdP to their other foundations? I recently tried a sample of the Sublimage and didn't like it. I much more prefer the Dolce Gabbana luxurious creamy foundation and the newly purchased La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer and Foundation. As for the plastic lid - I remove these instantly and it won't be messy and somehow unhygienic anymore 🤗

I prefer the Chanel, which is good because I already own that one and it is one of my favorites. I was curious about the Cle de Peau but I will stick with the Chanel. I have super dry skin but what I like about the Chanel is that it is very blurring but not drying at all

I love both foundations on you. Coming from me, a person who tends to powder down because I can go oily in a few minutes, I will probably be biased. I prefer the Chanel side because it looks like perfected skin. Then again, your skin is perfect. Cle de Peau side is also skinlike, but like you said - radiant. I think I’m going to talk in circles here.😅 It seems impossible to choose. I say the best for you is whichever makes your complexion feel as though the formula is the most beneficial. This was delightful. I haven’t tried either, but I’d love to try the Sublimage. Thanks, beautiful Lexi.

I bought the Cle de Peau and I really like it a lot. I only bought the Chanel concealer, which could work as a foundation. But I have other Chanel foundations I love. I rarely use my other pot foundations: Chanticaille, SUQQU, Cle de Peau (the older version), and one other that I can’t even remember.
I'm so glad you like it! I rarely use my Chantecaille foundation anymore either. I really don't love jars in general but these two I seem to enjoy enough that I can look past it. It would be nice if there was different packaging though!

Interestingly enough, I think the concealer texturally feels a bit more like the CdP foundation than the Chanel. The Chanel is creamier while the CdP is moussier. I have to say I think the Chanel concealer is a bit better than the Chanel foundation but they are close.

Good morning Lexi. I love your nail polish, I think it is the same as in the brush short. And I love that you are holding off buying more foundation until you mostly finish these! You can pick up samples for your channel. I think it works to show these again as part of other videos as well. I try to surmise which products you love most partly that way. Which ones you truly love to wear. CDP looks more luminous, but to me, as you say, fairly comparable. CDP not made in Japan, how do they justify the price!
Thank you! It is the same nail polish - Mooncat Electric Sheep. Their newest collection is really pretty with subtle nuances of color shift that aren't always noticeable. I was surprised the foundation was not made in Japan as all of their products are but I triple checked that. I had the same though about the price. At least with the Chanel I understand that the labor and time for the extract really drives up the cost for the sublimage line but CdP just doesn't share any info so it's hard to understand why it is so expensive.

I have not tried the Chanel foundation but love the concealer. They both look very similar on you CDP maybe slightly more dewy. Does one have a tad more coverage than the other? It looks like the Chanel might have more but it just could be because it’s more dry than the CDP. But they are very close. Thank you for doing a side by side review!! 😊🌺

In foundation I need med coverage. I have rosacea and I like to cover it but not too heavy. I can’t buy something expensive and not giving me the coverage that I’m looking for no matter how nice it is. BTW you look pretty.

I like the CdP side better. I had the Chanel le Teint in the jar a long time ago. It was too matte for me. Kinda drying, even with a rich cream underneath. I also had the old formulation of the CdP The Foundation, and I absolutely loved it! Best ever foundation I have ever tried! Unfortunately, I have run out of it. lol. Now, I need to save money to purchase the CdP, new one. It is soooooo expensive. Sigh.
It really is expensive! It's 15% off at Nordstrom right now but I think you can get a better deal if you leave it in your cart at saks for a few weeks. I am not always lucky enough to get the coupons but it's totally worth it if you can!

With a very good skincare in winter time I really love the Chanel one because it gives the right amount of coverage without being detectable and it lets the shine come through the skin in a very natural way. People always think that I don’t wear makeup 😂

I personally prefer Cle de Peau, as I have dry dry dry skin and like to include actives in my routine. Sisley also has a beautiful foundation product and I prefer it over Chanel as well.
I love the Sisley foundations! Their shade ranges are a bit inconsistent but the finishes are some of the best!
I’ve only tried the Sublimage Chanel and I totally love it for my skin and age (56). Unfortunately I can’t try the Cle de Peau as it doesn’t exist in my country (Portugal)

I really like the Cle de Peau on you as it is really more radiant. Which one do you feel is more transfer-resistant? I am slightly torn between both as I sometimes still wear face mask.
Thank you! They both are pretty much the same with the transfer resistance. After a mask, I have a little transfer but it isn't too bad.
When I was at the Chanel counter, I found that the texture of the Chanel Sublimage L’Essence le Teint is nicer than this Sublimage Le Teint in the jar. Now that the L’Essence le Teint has the BD01 shade, do you think it’s worth trying? I gave my B10 to my mom.
Yes I think it's worth trying. It's a nice foundation. Try to get a sample first though.

I have a few favorites depending on the finish. Cle de Peau foundations work very well for me so one of my favorites is acutally a 50/50 mix of their radiant natural and radiant matte foundations. For matte foundations, I love the Chanel Ultra Le Teint. For cushions, the Cle de Peau and Sisley are both amazing. These are probably my top favorites but I also really love Koh Gen Do (both moisture and aqua formulas).
I much prefer Chanel on you. The CdP has a weird powdery effect on your skin, while Chanel gives an healthier skin look. That’s what I noticed from my new oled TV. Anyway, I’m fine with my Suqqu cream foundation. I’ll stick with that 😘

I keep going back and forth between these two. I have Sublimage Le Teint. I have gotten generous samples of the Cle de Peau three times. Sublimage is such a great foundation for my skin type (40+ and dry/combo. Will get oily spots when dehydrated). That was an easy purchase after going though my sample pot and would 100% buy again. It’s beautiful, it’s easy, and it just works. But the Cle de Peau… there’s something about the finish on that one. It’s ethereal. Slightly more hydrating, which I like for this time of the year. But is it really worth double the cost just for the finish? Eh, no. But do I plan on getting a jar of it sometime in the near future with my gift card when Saks has a sale? Yes. Yes, I do, lol. It’s the most gorgeous foundation I have ever put on my face. Still love my Sublimage, though.
Oh! And I should also add that I work 24hr shifts (medical field). Both the Sublimage and The Foundation look beautiful after a long day. Coverage has definitely worn down after 24hr but it’s almost as if those two truly melt into the skin. My skin still has a soft focus blurred appearance with a healthy radiance. It’s not patchy, cakey, and no settling issues. But the real kicker is that my skin isn’t an oil slick from being dehydrated, my cheeks are still plump (they typically get that crepe skin after a long shift), my redness is still toned down, and I don’t have any inflamed or flakey spots around my chin and cheeks from my mask. Never had any other foundations do that in my 20 years in this job and working these hours. I usually look a hot mess after a 24. I guess there is something to the skin care claims after all!

Such a typical Lexi video, so detailed, so much in depth about the flowers/plants, i just love that about you doing your video's!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩 I have that Chanel foundation since a very short time, could not use yet, will soon i hope! The very expensive CDP i bought with 25 pct off at Black Friday, did doubt between shades O20 and O30, mostly between them, bought 030 with the reason to keep it close for some time, as foundations expire, and i have quite a few still opened. So i wait a while, maybe a month or a few months. I loved the good reduction but want to look first, check the expiration dated of my opened foundations, want to think/check first, and not waist this beautiful product. But interesting comparison, Lexi! I see difference, and both sides of your face are beautiful, both foundations in their own way, i think. It's also nice to have different foundations, also in lower priced category, i mean in general. Because the face is than dry, than dryer, than less dry, it depends for me on how many medication, the weather, etc. Thanks for another very very good video, have a great day!!!😘😘😘😘

Not waiting until summer as i saw here and there on UA-cam that the shade of The Foundation can be a bit lighter than their others, i have their glass bottles that i also love and first want to use. I don't change in a medium in summer, a sort of light medium, so, want to use this around spring, i think. Yes, correct. It depends. I'm still so much in love with my Chantecaille Cushion, it was so easy to take to Rome, but sometimes my skin can be to dry for it, than i prefer the jar from Chantecaille, although i love to support the orphan elephants of course! The Cle de Peau the Foundation is definitely much nicer, IMO. I am pleasantly surprised that it came out even nicer than the Sublimage le Teint!

The Chanel N1 foundation is a thinner texture with a bit more coverage and has a more satin finish. This one is moussier and has a bit more of a "natural glow" look. Since the texture is different, it really feels more like skincare whereas serum like foundations are a bit more "paint" like in a way. Overall they are both fantastic foundations but the sublimage looks a bit more like real skin imo.

I used the Sonia G Jumbo Base in the side by side and the Koyudo F-04 (formerly the FuPa 03) in the demo alone. It's a favorite!

I think the Suqqu cream is kind of in between the two texturally but has a bit more coverage. I love that one!

Cle de peau I own the foundation. I’ve returned three different Chanel foundations last return was no 1 just bad really bad. I’ll stick with CDP.
I have to admit their foundations are amazing! I think they are probably my favorite brand for foundations overall.
I couldn’t help myself. Nordstrom had the Cle de peau 15% off so I bought it. I wore it tonight for the first time, but I think I put on way too much.
I hope you love it! I put on too much the first time too. It's amazing how far a little goes with this formula.

I couldn't tell much of a difference in the finish after your wear test! I still have some of the old version of the Cle de Peau, which I have loved very much and gone through 2 of them, but it's expensive enough that I didn't rush out to get a new one. If I could actually limit myself to ONE foundation, I think I would pick that. But, I like the look of the the new Sublimage foundation and concealer, but not sure about the packaging--looks messy and then maybe I wouldn't use it, so maybe not the better buy. I think they both look nice on you though!
Thank you! It's so hard to limit yourself to one foundation. I feel like 3 is a reasonable number so you can have different finishes but I definitely have a few more than that.
I just ordered the Chanel Sublimage and have been trying to assuage my guilt because I really can't afford it. There's no way I'll order the Clé de Peau. I can't justify paying that much money for a foundation. I thought the Chanel side of your face looked softer and more touchable. I don't care for the dewy look, but I hope the Chanel won't look too dry on my skin. I'll be trembling as I open the package when it arrives.
See if you can get a sample from a counter to test before you open it just in case. I think you will love it though and if you use it every time and feel great in it, it will be worth it.
I probably should have done that before I ordered it. It was kind of an impulse buy after I was disappointed with the Chantecaille future Skin, which I got on sale. Thought the Channel would be better.

@@LexiJong Me too!! I used Chanel's earlier cream foundation years ago and loved it, so I hope this Sublimage cream will be even better. Can't remember why I stopped using the original cream. It might have been because I found better shade matches with other brands. Crossing fingers. It should arrive tomorrow. I might get some use out of the Chantecaille next summer.
