  • I trained like John Wick for 21 days to blend my martial arts skills with firearm skills and shooting to master what is known now as GunFu or Gun-Jitsu.
    ---
Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey UA-cam channel!
My name is Rokas. I'm a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises.
Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton.
After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my UA-cam channel called "Martial Arts Journey".
Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries.

I grew up shooting guns, so this is childs play. I find it interesting how people for communist countries like the UK don't understand the fundamental right to self defense. I look at guns as the ultimate equalizer in a fight. Commies look at them as death machines.

I mean this is it... This is what it means to be a well rounded martial artist in today's world. Striking, takedowns, grappling, submissions, small arms training - next on the list, tactical driving and maybe even improvised demolitions! This is the modern day samurai equivalent of jiu jitsu, kenjutsu, kyudo and horse riding.

@@MartialArtsJourney [sorry, angry keyboard warrior here] 13:03 better don't put your hand on his head, when you are going to shoot there. Also reload shoot one round reload again and shoot another round - doesn't make sense, unless you reloaded to magazine with only one round. And your grip could be better, you have too much space between your hand and beavertail. But it's still an excellent result, with only three weeks of training.

You're going to get comments like "John Wick isn't realistic, you can't take on that many guys" etc, but I think that's the point of an ideal. It's always just a little too far out of reach, but in striving to achieve it you end up much better than you once were.
Maybe you can never be as combat aware and of sheer will as John Wick, maybe you can never achieve such mastery over your mind, body, and various fields of expertise as Batman, maybe you can never remember to floss your teeth twice a day. But trying to be is nothing but beneficial.

Great video, really cool to see you learning about firearms especially after there weren’t any in the Self Defense Championship Season 1. If you want to continue on this path, you should come to the USA and take at least one class from Craig Douglas, I guarantee it will blow your mind and really show you the reality of defensive use of firearm. However, I must correct you for referring to the magazine as a “clip” at 3:50, they are two different things. Clips are not in common use anymore because clips are for rapidly inserting bullets into an internal magazine, whereas most modern firearms use external magazines.

Glad you had fun and experience with a gun.
The fact you know how to use properly a firearm just open up your eyes and mind on this weapon.
How to act in front of or using one.
It's an addictive fun item as an hobby.
Friends or other martial practitioners i met who didn't even use it once are so far from reality most of the time when it comes to really understand a gun.
Everyone should at least experience it.
I miss the days when i was in a shooting range unloading 5.56 7.62 9 .44 .38. Here in Belgium it's so restrictive nowadays to own and keep a gun sadly.

Hey Rokas, its really cool to see you get this kind of training. I wish I could have taken you shooting when you were in Portland. You looked really good for your first time. Something interesting to note is that the techniques you learned were pretty specific to Israeli methods used in their military. If an American was training you it would be quite different.
Wearing sweatpants wasnt necessarily bad. There are specific holster attachments that are meant for pants without a belt. I use one called an Ulticlip. I can carry my gun while wearing sweatpants, kick boxing shorts or gi pants when I drive to the gym, or regular pants with or without a belt. LOVE this video and love the progress you made. And the action sequence at the end was awesome despite the LOWEST capacity magazines I've ever seen 😅!

Rokas slowly turning into a legit badass. Not that he wasn't already.

Man it was so cool to see the evolution leading to the final action scene! I guess you can be an actor in action movies now, haha. So cool! Congrats, and thanks for sharing your journey!

    This is absolutely awesome!!!
I'll blame the algorithm for the low view count it must have lumped it with other stuff (movies and guns) because at least really like it (and would love more of this)
